The purpose of this exercise is to easily identify content gaps at the intersection of personas and their buying cycle stages, as well as to ideate new content to fill those gaps.

Some Tips:

Create a tab for each new Topic/Persona combo.

An easy way to discover topics is by starting with the top-level category navigation on your site (e.g. widgets, thingamabobs, doohickies... or shoes, clothing, accessories).

Provide a URL to content that has already been published, and provide ideas where there are content gaps.

A good rule of thumb is to have at least one piece of content that applies to each persona at each stage in their buying cycle.

Some content may appeal to multiple personas, but more targeted content is usually better.

Look for notes like the one in this cell.

Put a capital "X" in cells to indicate a lack of content. The cell should turn red for easy gap analysis.
