3
See Snow/Fords page for updates on Snow & Creek crossings & Road Closures in Oregon.
4
Never rely on water caches!!! Beware of contaminated water. Purify backcountry water.
5
Send email updates to water@pctwater.com or phone/text 619-734-7289 or 619-734-PCTW [voice mail/text only, no one will answer]. Mileages and waypoint names used in this water report are from Halfmile’s PCT maps [www.pctmap.net]. Please send photos & videos of water sources, fires, passes, Poodle Dog Bush, and stream creek crossings to our Facebook page called "PCT Water,Fire,Passes,Fords Update Group"
6
Take fire safety seriously. Alcohol stoves start fires – go stoveless or carry a stove with a contained fuel source and a shut-off valve.
7
Water sources with blue text [marked with * or **] have historically been more reliable. Sources marked with ** are more likely to have water year-round than those marked with a single *. Water described as seasonal, usually dry, early spring, etc. are less reliable.

B71760.81763.3BrownMtn Shelter*South Brown Mountain Shelter, cabin, picnic table, water pump.9/22/18 (Morning Angel) : good water from pump, notice from 9/15 says water has coliform bacteria but it's not dangerous.
9/4/18 (Thibaud) : Pump gives clear ice cold water.
8/24/18 (Lickity Split) : Pump is delivering plenty of clear water.
8/17/18 (Ryan) : pump on and flowing.
7/26/18 (Shepherd) : pump is on and water is cold!
7/23/18 (Deuce) : Pump operational.
7/15/18 (Spice Cat & Big Dog) : Water pump is now operational, nice cold water!
7/8/18 (Campfinder) : Need a cup to collect the water from the small spring referenced in Phoenix 6/30/18 report below.
6/30/18 (Phoenix) : Water pump is off. You can get water from a small spring 0.2 mile North of the jonction that leads to the shelter. The spring is just by a dirt road and is flowing at 1 l/min. Bring something to scoop water out.

6/6/18 (Prince) : Just northbound from the bridge, look for a tree with a silver PCT marker with “H2O water” written on it. Follow the social trail approx. 200ft. At least three small, shallow, clear pools with water flowing a bit.

C51801.81804.3RangerSpring TRTrail to Ranger Spring (0.8 miles west of PCT)15 foot wide torrent of cool, clear water gushing out of the earth. There are also standing pools at the horse camp, half a mile from the pct, but I would go all the way to the spring - the path is easy. If you are planning to stock up for the whole 19-mile stretch south of Mazama Village, I would do it here rather than honeymoon creek, or further south.8/7/18Devilfish
33
C61806.41808.9JackSpringTRSeasonal Jack Spring, 7/10 mile W of PCT, may be dry, difficult to find.Jack Spring (1808.9) is dry as a bone, but two of the three ponds in the immediate vicinity of the jack spring trail's junction with the pct have water. The southernmost pond, covered by lilypads, has receded to maybe 20 square feet. To reach it go 0.1 miles north of the trail junction, to a green oasis in the burn zone, and look for a "candle" (a lower-case "i" carved into a tree). Go northwest up between the two rock outcroppings you see on your left just before you reach the "candle" (northbound), and you will find the first pond in 200 feet.
The second pond, larger than the first and clear of lilypads, has hardly receded at all from its maximum extent. From the first pond, looking northwest you will see two dry, interconnected basins topped by a low rock wall. Go to the top of that rock wall and you will see the second pond. The third pond on the map is dry, and looks to be much smaller at its maximum extent.

34
7/10/18 (Christopher) : Number of places in the burn zone 1806 to Crater Lake it's hard to find trail and footprints are misleading. It's important to have a GPS apps to help you stay on trail. One concern is 1810.5 were all trail marking burnt away at the intersection and wrong trail goes straight and the PCT goes to the right.
