1/29/2015 5:59:58Darrell Hingledarrell_hingle@yahoo.comI am in favor of increasing the size limit to 34" fork length for greater amberjack, this would give additional breeding cycles before being harvested and should help stabilize the fishery over the long term.

for commercial fishing trip limits I think the current 2000 lb trip limit should be maintained. I think that should be whole weight. if you use gutted weight for that measurement it would actually mean more fish in box and hurt the biomass.

3/31/2015 17:02:38Mark Thomas Kelleyladykelleycharters@yahoo.comI am not for a March 1 - May 31 closure on amberjacks. Keep the June and July closure. Our customers are already aware of the June and July closure also we need the amberjacks in the spring. I could go for a fall closure if it needs to be longer than June and July. I don't like the 34" size limit but I could learn to live with it. Panama City Florida 32408Charter/Headboat Operator

3/31/2015 17:40:38Capt Steve Rosslegendarynewbeginning@gmail.comI am NOT in agreement with the proposed March 1st thru May 31st closure. This could put us out of business since this is our target fish during the slow early spring season. Keep the current June and July closure as is. We also do not agree with the 34" size limit and would need to see more data to justify this increase from the current 30" limit in effect.Panama City, FL 32408Charter/Headboat Operator

3/31/2015 17:42:27Captain Kory Freedkoryfreed@yahoo.comI am highly opposed to the March 1st through May 31st closure on greater amberjack. I would rather it remain status quo. I am also not in favor of the 34 inch minimum size limit, but would be willing to accept that if it allowed for the season to stay the same.Panama City, FL, 32409Charter/Headboat Operator

3/31/2015 17:47:16Anita Rosstiaross60@gmail.comI do NOT agree with the March 1st thru May 31st proposed closure! As a new boat owner this would greatly impact our early spring season and possible put us out of business. We depend on Amberjack to bring customers fishing during this time of year. The June and July closure is fine as is, since this is a busier season with Red Snapper as the target fish. As for the 34" proposed limit, I would need to fully understand why an Amberjack needs to be larger than the current 30" to agree to this as well. Thank you.Panama City, FL 32401Charter/Headboat Operator

3/31/2015 17:54:51Benjamin Kelleymisskelley29@aol.comI have been in the Charter fishing business here in Panama City Beach, FL for 32 years now. I have a federally dual permitted 52' offshore boat. After the NMFS took our Red Snapper away in the spring of the year we have rebuilt our spring business by catching Amberjack. We have nothing else to market here in this area in the spring of the year. I am totally against a closure of Amberjack in the spring anytime before June 1. This could be the final nail in the coffin for many here. Close the Amberjacks any other time of the year but not in March, April and May. If we have to increase the size limit then so be it but it is stupid to open Amberjack in the busiest month of the year and the effort will be through the roof. panama City, FL 32405Charter/Headboat Operator

3/31/2015 18:01:53Nicholas Amleynickolo500@yahoo.comMy family plans an annual charter fishing trip every year for the good Amberjack fishing in May. We spend a lot of money with the Kelley family and in the Panama City area for this trip. We are totally against any talk of a March, April and May closure of Amberjack. 3/31/2015 18:34:27Michael SullivanFishing@captmikecharters.comI am Mike Sullivan owner operator of two U.S. Coast Guard charter for hire fishing boats in Panama City Fl. I would like amberjack to be opened in the spring so we have something to catch and keep during that time of the year. Close it June 1st when the red snapper open and stay closed for as long as it has to be so we do not go over the quota and then reopen it for the rest of the year. I would like to keep amberjack at 30 inches because if it goes to 34 inches the mortality rate will go up a lot. Once the 34 inch amberjack stock get more plentiful we will catch the quota faster and faster and then we will be in the same boat as the red snapper only open for only 9 days. 3/31/2015 18:46:48Raye Webbsahmeen32@yahoo.comI am opposed to the amberjack closure in March, April and May. I believe it should be open during these months because so many other species are closed at this time. These are the only big fish that we are able to target during these months and bring home to eat. I also think the size limit of 34 inches is absurd. 30 inch amberjack are obtainable in a small boat like mine. very rarely would we ever see a 34 inch Jack. Don't mess with the Amberjack, they are fine the way they are. 41164Private Recreational Angler

3/31/2015 18:53:32Christine Parsonscookieparsons@bellsouth.netLeave the Amberjack season as is. Do not shorten the season. This gives the average recreational fisherman a chance to catch early in the season. These boat owners work hard and depend on amberjack to jump start their season.Jasper GA 30143Charter/Headboat Passenger

3/31/2015 19:06:17B.J. Burketthookemupcharters@gmail.comRecreational: I am opposed to changing the amberjack season. We need amberjack during spring to be able to offer our customers something they want to catch. Amberjack is the only species left for springtime. Please keep amberjack open March, April, May and closed June and July.

We also need the smallest size limit possible. status quo would be best. A larger size limit would make it almost impossible to catch legal jacks on a shorter trips.

Commercial: A 2000 pd trip limit has worked great for years why change it now?

Thank you for your consideration. B.J. Burkett
