(Optional, 1-2 paragraphs) This can be starting a specific initiative (such as a new event or program), something relating to an existing activity (such as increasing attendance, maintaining existing programs, raising funds, or improving resources), or solving a problem that the organization has not yet addressed (or not focused on enough).
| 2/26/2024 13:00:06 | sambaeseman@gmail.com | Sam Baeseman | Hello! I'm Sam, a recent graduate from UW Stout's Game Design program, and a current volunteer member for IGDATC. I am a relatively newer member of the community, but for the past 10 months I've been attending events, making improvements to the community discord, and representing IGDATC at professional conferences, such as M+DEV 2023! I am excited to make the move to the cities officially this Spring, finally shortening my commutes for our regular meetings and being able to wholly immerse myself in the Twin Cities gamedev community. | In my time as a volunteer thus far I've found a major passion for promoting our community wherever possible, be it social media, community events, or plain old word of mouth! I would like to do all I can to further bolster IGDATC's presence, making it a visible and welcoming community for anyone local and feeling detached from community in games! I would like to become a board member to help further these initiatives, as well as ensuring our existing event programming is sufficient enough to support our current and longtime members. | I'd like to direct my main efforts toward outreach and retention for our community in any form that comes. I have already done some work with social media and discord management for the community, and I'd love to use this next year to formalize those efforts with regular plugs for our events and additional outreach efforts, as well as new avenues for attendees to give feedback and suggestions on events.
| 2/26/2024 14:24:34 | rngwrldngnr@gmail.com | El Berg-Maas | I am the sitting Secretary for the IGDATC board. I've been a member of this community for more than 5 years and a board member for 4. | I enjoy this community and I want it to thrive. Being on the board is a good way for me to help it do so. | Working under covid drastically expanded our virtual meeting capabilities and brought in a lot of members from further a field. All of that is great, but I think we could also foster smaller, local groups, particularly those far a field from the twin cities. These might be other game dev organizations or simple adhoc get togethers of nearby IGDATC members.
| 2/26/2024 19:00:07 | rob.frostiii@gmail.com | Robert Frost III | My name is Robert Frost III. Professionally, I make sound for games and other forms of media. I’m also 1/3 of Space Mace, creators of Joggernauts. I started coming to IGDATC in 2014 to learn more about game development and the people who are passionate about the process. Before the pandemic, I was very active in the community and attended most community events. | I owe my entire career in games to IGDATC. It was in this community that I felt safe to grow my game audio career goals, celebrate new opportunities, and network with incredibly talented people. I’d like to give back by sharing knowledge I’ve gained over the years. I think I can also assist with sound during events because of my background with professional AV. | Since my focus working on games is audio, I’d love to spear head some new programs, events, workshops, etc. with a game audio focus.
| 3/1/2024 19:13:14 | deannagreyoak@gmail.com | Deanna Greyoak | I'm Deanna, I grew up in MN, went to art school here, moved to Austin, TX to be in a game development hub, worked on some cool games (XBLA Crimson Alliance, Halo Anniversary & 4) and then moved back shortly before Covid to MN to be near family again. I have been working in the game industry since 2010, in the last 5 years I have been working remotely for small game companies as a Senior Environment Artist / Art Director off and on. I run an indie game company called Lucky Egg and have been in development of a cute co-op cooking & building game, Cookeshi, with Trenton, for some time (also off an on). We both started coming to IGDATC starting with the first in-person Holiday Party after Covid. Since then I've come to most of the monthly main events, in-person Women In Games, and Devs Play Games. I commonly support IGDATC events in small ways like teaching people how to play new boardgames, greeting people at the door, and other random tasks like printing supporting materials or reaching out to people personally to encourage them to come to specific events. | I think it would be great to have more women to be on the IGDATC board. I believe in IGDATC, it's community, and I really would love for it to continue to grow, and dream that MN could be a bigger game dev hub in the future. | I'd like to help get more engagement from our women attendees in other non-WIG events. Plus more engagement from artists/creatives! Additionally, I want to find ways to gather feedback/suggestions from attendees or could-be attendees to find ways to get more people involved or make sure. I'm happy to do Treasurer-related tasks and want to double-check we are fully utilizing any potential benefits from being a chapter in the greater IGDA organization. I want to help brainstorm and implement ways for us to be more efficient and reliable as an all volunteer organization.
| 3/1/2024 19:10:45 | trentongreyoak@gmail.com | Trenton Greyoak | Hiya! I'm Trenton. I'm a professional/indie game designer and programmer. Back in the Ancient Times™, I worked on MMOs at Sony in Austin, TX before going indie (all the cool kids were doing it) with my wife, Deanna. Since then, I've bounced between various projects, contracts, app development, web tech, tabletop RPG supplement, designing & running MEGAGAMES, Unity projects, etc. I began attending IGDATC in-person events last year and quickly became a volunteer. I attend every IGDATC event I can! Last June, I started and continue to run the Devs Play Games event (1st Wednesday every month). I nat20ed a charisma check and joined the Board a few months ago by special appointment, but now I must face cruel democracy to earn legitimacy. 😮 | I love this community and wish to continue doing what I can to support it! My level of commitment, skillset, and availability make the board a good fit for me, but I'll be here helping out regardless. | I plan to continue running Devs Play Games and helping with other events where I can. My focus for 2024 is organizer/volunteer sustainability, i.e. preventing burnout, pushing for event continuity, etc. Oh and an OUTDOOR event this summer like a BBQ at a park. YEAH vote for that #democracy! 🌳🌞🔥
