5 | Robert Van Peer | There are several ways I use Burning Tango to make it more than just another festival. First, I plan my drive to and from using scenic backroads as much as possible and have gone through parts of California I had never visited. Second I always leave time to fly fish for wild trout in one or two (or five...) creeks or streams, from the lower McCloud and Upper Sacramento to small off the beaten path creeks which barely show up on Google Earth! Of course there are the hikes to the fall on the McCloud but there is also the hike Beyond Hedge Creek Falls, down to the Sacramento River and....well the rest is technically trespassing....but ask me, it is worth it! A few hours break in the town of Mt. Shasta can be great with several very nice restaurants and even a bar or two with music. There is a great restaurant in Dunsmuir, Cafe Maddelena! Truly excellent food on all three visits. Also the brewery in Dunsmuir is a favorite, though I tend to visit that place when in the are fishing and less when at BT. Then the is that somewhat unique thing about BT, because it is held in McCloud with the housing situation, and that is the house parties that happen....some can be a bit "wild" for me but most are an avenue to get to know fellow dancers and even dance a little. | Northern California | Hiking, Swiming, Fishing, Fine Dining, Beautiful scenery, Casual eating, snacks, coffee etc, Travel

11 | Steve Morgan | 250 465 4966 | Fly fishing on the McCloud river | Fishing | https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/McCloud_River | The McCloud holds a unique place in the history of American angling. McCloud River redband rainbow trout were so admired by early fish culturists that in 1878, their eggs were sent to hatcheries in the eastern United States and, in subsequent years, around the world, establishing rainbow trout as the most popular trout on earth

14 | juliana | bohn_juliana@yahoo.com | Motorcycle | ride yr motorcycle | I love riding my motorcycle to Burning Tango even tho Im 650miles distant as the crow flies. I take the coast line going south stopping and hiking/motocamping at various beaches and parks along the way. Lots of good riding in the area including riding up Mt Shasta. On the return, I take the twisty roads north on the East side of the cascades and enjoy the higher altitude and drier scenery. LIving the Life!
15 | Jericha | Great thrift/vintage shops in Dunsmuir & Mt Shasta | local thrifting/vintage | If you love funky thrift or vintage finds, don't miss Dandelion Dust in Dunsmuir and Moonrise Canyon in Mt Shasta! Both shops are run by really creative and wonderful women with a great eye for treasures, and they're reasonably priced (and usually open to a little good-natured negotiation). Moonrise Canyon in particular is a great place to go to support the local queer community.
