4/21/2013 12:04:40041Gator might be on his way out. Lots of howling, whining, seizing like body movements. He spilled water overnight and was in a pile of it when we got here- temp at 95. Gave 90ml hetastarch with .9cc baytril and 15ml dextrose over 30 minutes. 1cc oral dextrose and a number of other meds. Keep this angel in your thoughts. 02Lunar and Johnny (who sounds like he's having an exorcism performed on him by the way). 0IV Lines (with port + screw), Dextrose, CereniaStuff is bleached but not screamed.

Cain should be good for a Parvo test this evening.

Apogee's catheter was blown- pulled, she's doing well and moving around a ton so a new one was not placed.

Sport is going downhill (v and d) so catheter was placed.

Everyone else is somewhere between awesome and okay.

4/23/2013 20:55:3861.50N/A000Cerenia, NoneWe need more gloves - size small and medium! We'll add gloves to the list soon.

Mix a little bit of wet food with majority i/d and Apogee will eat it!

Onyx tested negative!!! Shae tested negative!

Sport is doing pretty ok - No V/D, QAR and even ate a bit of turkey and just a lick of some peanut butter.

Everyone else is on oral meds! Very easy shift, training usually takes a little longer so tomorrow treatments shouldnt take so long tomorrow.

Signing out!

4/24/2013 19:59:3931Christine, Kate, Kevin1Puffin threw up and is having very runny, bloody poop. He's new and a bit scared, but he's on IV stuff so hopefully he'll be ok!2Sport and Apogee are good! Sport doesn't play nice with other dogs yet though.000NoneNone

4/25/2013 19:56:1371Peggy, Sarah, Marisa1Kosta is the most critical, liquid D, no vomit...just really leth.

Puffin was critical but is now Intermediate so I am not including him in the number but please keep a close eye.
1Puffin - Cath very positional so he now has a large splint. Please make sure to check really closely (toes and upper arm) to ensure that it is not blown. Temp 101.7 so no need for IV Baytril but poss. in the a.m. if temp spikes again. Liquid brown/red D in kennel but none while on shift. Yellow V in kennel but none while on shift. FF 6cc BF and he's holding it down. Left heating pad off b/c of high temp earlier today.
Sport :) Whoohoo he's negative!
000Technically not new b/c they had been set up and treated but the newbies from Bastrop are Belinda, Dino, Heather, and KostaFrontlineCanned I/DEasy shift full of lil lovers. Apogee still had no poo so no test. Fingers crossed for testing tomorrow.
10
4/26/2013 20:38:1361.5Sara M. Rebecca1Puffin - Had a temp of 102.8 when we got in, looked to have vomited all day and had some BD. FF 3cc Nutrical, which he seems to be holding down alright, and his temp had gone down to 102.0. 0001Samuel - No diarrhea or vomit, but not eating or drinking. On IV meds, watch!NoneCanned I/D, Critical care or Recovery foodKosta had pulled her catheter completely out when we got in here. Dr. Johnson had us stick to SQ tonight since she's eating so well, but if she looks bad/is not eating like crazy tomorrow morning resume IV. If she still looks good and is eating well tomorrow she and Belinda would love to play together! :)

Belinda, Dino, and Heather are all on orals, eating, and pooping solidly like champs!
11
4/27/2013 11:13:3763Lauren, Shelby2Both Puffin and Samuel were pretty critical this morning. Both had bloody diarrhea and vomit in cage. Puffin had some bloody diarrhea during shift, so he got hetastarch, LRS bolus, dextrose, IV baytril, cefazolin, and other IV meds. FF 3 cc baby food and threw everything up at the end of shift. Keep a close eye on him. Also had a little more bloody diarrhea at end of shift.
Samuel is also very critical. Had a very high fever of 103.8 in beginning, and went down a little by end of shift. had bloody blow out during shift. Gave hetastarch bolus, and LRS bolus, and also got IV baytril and other IV meds. Cooled him down with some ice packs, but he is not doing very well, so keep a close eye on him as well.

Keep both these pups in your thoughts today!
1Kosta- Ate a ton of food, and was BAR, although a little shy. got SQ meds. 000NoneCanned I/DBelinda, Dino and Heather are all doing very well, eating a lot, and only on orals. Dino and Heather both had solid poops, so they can probably be tested soon.

Got through most of laundry.
12
4/28/2013 21:19:4582Katie, Emily2Puffin- Alert, not crashing like this morning. Temp was low, though (99.7), I covered him up and made sure he was on his heating pad. There are stuffed animals around the walls of the kennel so he's less likely to get off the heating pad by mistake because they block him. There's still room though, he won't get burned or anything. He doesn't really want to stay covered up. QAR/leth pink, warm paws. No v/d this shift! no LRS at all, just hetastarch pump with 5% dextrose and reglan. Flushed and checked catheter, It's working. He got cefazolin, and famotadine IV, and sucralfate oral. FF6 cc baby food.

Samuel- QAR/leth, woke up more when I started treating him. His catheter blew sometime during the fluid bolus, he needs a new one in the morning. Gave Polyflex SQ per Dr. Jefferson. He may or may not have gotten his
IV meds before the catheter blew. Was going to give hetastarch but couldn't.

2Sinsay- He's really sweet!! QAR, pink and warm. He didn't absorb his fluids this morning, we talked to DVM and gave less. Got Reglan, polyflex, and anzamet SQ. Should probably get a catheter in the morning. He was still really drooly and nauseated looking at the beginning of the shift, but FF after meds kicked in. Had a little bit of bloody diarrhea at the end of the shift.

Begonia- No v/d. Fiesty, but we took her out and held her and muzzled her just to be safe, and she was fine once she wasn't in the kennel. FF. IV Tx. on Pump.
000AnzametCanned I/D, Dry I/D, Critical care or Recovery foodThe four good puppies are still doing well. Dino and heather had two solid poops each, and either Kosta or belinda had one too. No V or D. Everybody is eating!

We're out of wet food, and we finished the plastic container of wet food! there's a bag under the baby food, but we need more! I also opened the last box of 18 gauge needles, so lets get more because running out sucks.

13
4/29/2013 20:27:2181.5Kate, Melissa, Christine02Puffin: QAR, pink and warm. Doing better! Ate wet food and sausage on his own after FF 6 cc of BF. Also drank a TON of water (two bowls). No V/D so didn't give Anzemet.

Sinsay: QAR, pink and warm. Started on a pump due to having had three bouts of bloody diarrhea. Got Hetastarch. No vomit. FF 5 cc of BF...ate some but didn't like it at all.
000NoneCanned I/D, Dry I/DDr. Sheih was in here earlier and had to break up a fight between Kosta and Belinda. They've been fine so far during shift but just an FYI.
14
4/30/2013 21:00:4061Lauren, Kevin2Anastasia- QAR/lethargic. When she came in she was pretty much comatose, but she is responsive not, just doesn't really want to move. Got IV bolus, cefazolin, and famotidine. No e/d, and no v, but some runny D. Keep an eye on her. Her temp was also a little cold. 5Samuel is doing alright, but he's not drinking water yet.

Orville is the new guy. He's shy and scared, but he's good about being poked.

Puffin is doing better little by little. He got all normal IV injections tonight, pump is going. He had mega paw, so Dr. Johnson loosened the vet wrap. He was eating and drinking tonight, and no v/d during shift! He liked baby food and the chicken sticks.

Sinsay isn't great, but he's awake and trying to get out of his cage. He had some throwup and runny poop, and he doesn't want to eat. His boluses go easy!

Begonia she's eating and still really growely.
None at the moment.001Orville got here during the shift. He got his first round of meds (SQs) and his vaccinations/frontline/strongid. He's shy and scared, but he's really sweet.NoneNone

5/1/2013 20:11:4961Marisa, Kate, Christine1Anastasia - lethargic, pink and warm. No V/D. a lot of drool.1Sinsay - QAR, pink and warm. No V/D. Tried to give pepcid but would not take it, even with peanut butter and sausage. Not e/d. FF 4 cc of BF. drooly.None000NoneNoneMoved Orville to a bottom cage and cleaned the top one that he was in before.
16
5/2/2013 20:38:1151.5Lauren, Melissa1Anastasia- QAR, but still critical. She got all her IV meds and bolus, also wiped her rear end.Took her out and did PT work. Hopefully she gets better soon! Skipped FF since she was drooly and not feeling great. There was some bloody D on the pillows when we got here, but didn't have any more during shift. Sweet girl.Piggy-backed bag so she will have plenty of fluids for night.1Sinsay- BAR. He makes a lot of very pathetic whiney "love me" noises. He got IV meds, and ate a tiny bit of dry food, but not a ton (like a bite). There was a little vomit in cage at start of shift, but FF 12 cc and held it down fine. No diarrhea before or during shift. He's just as cool and lovable as ever. none000Nonesausage/chicken sticksPuffin is still doing well, likes the vienna sausages and turkey a lot. no v/d and eating and drinking. Just as cute as can be. On orals.
Begonia is doing much better behavior wise. She is eating a little, also likes the vienna sausages. She likes to be out of her cage, and she didn't growl at me once this shift, so that's good. Still hid her meds in food.
Orville is being quite nasty. Tried to get near him, and he went for my hand, so decided to skip, since he's just on orals. Watch him, because he is quick and not feeling very friendly. Don't think he ate anything on his own, but we didn't try FF because of how nasty he was.

Extra note/question:Are the crates out in the front changing area clean or dirty?
17
5/3/2013 21:27:0351.5Rebecca, Rachel, and Sara M. 1Anastasia: not much new to report. All meds as directed, ROM, Oxytetra, Famotidine. Temp 101.9 beginning of shift, 102.3 by end of shift. CRT slow. FF a little Nutrical. Piggybacked new bag with same []
Rachel did AWESOME with this little one.

She lifted her head and made the effort to stand up and roll over. Albeit a little sloppy and tired... that's something!

UPDATE: by end of shift, she was having tremors.
0001Walrus - Not eating or drinking, no diarrhea but vomiting a fair amount of clear yellow liquid. Did not FF because vomiting. Scared but sweet! NoneNoneBegonia - Total attitude shift! Still doesn't like oral meds but not snappy! Wanted to come out of her cage and walk around and play. LOVES baby food!

Orville - Scared but if you go slow and take him out of his cage he does fine.

Kudos to Sarah for running the Parvo show like a champ this evening and awesome job to Rachel- all kinds of incredible and able to answer even some of my off the wall questions.

5/4/2013 20:35:0661.5Katie, Christine1Anastasia - QAR/lethargic, pink and warm. Temp of 102.6. Bloody diarrhea and had dark yellow watery vomit. She puked on one of the cushions so we switched that one out and put the dirty one in a black bag next to her cage. Not sure if we should throw it out or not. Didn't FF since she was vomiting, even after given anti-emetics. Did PT/ROM. Left her upright with her head propped on a rolled up towel in the back of her kennel. 1Walrus - QAR, pink and warm. No V/D. Ate a lot of turkey. Begonia! Parvo Negative!!!001Isis - QAR, pink, and warm. On SQs. Treated by staff before we got here. Didn't eat any food but drank water. No V/D. 5/5/2013 20:53:0651.5Katie, Rebecca, Anne1Anastasia: not much new. nebulized, ROM, URI meds and standards, stood on her own for a while. 1Isis: got more heta tonight per Dr. A little bloody D, 100.6 with pale gums and slow CRT. (looked better after heta but still not great). IV baytril. FF some BF. No V. Responsive but in that "I wish you weren't bothering me cause I feel lethargic" kinda way.None.000NoneCritical care or Recovery food, Chicken Sticks, 18g needles, sharps containerWalrus cath was blown, Yatzel pulled. Eating and drinking and was scheduled to be removed anyway so it wasn't replaced. got poly.

Sinsay is great except that you canNOT put food in the crate without expecting it to be EVERWHERE 43 seconds later.

Orville is adorable and rode on Rebecca's shoulder for about 10 minutes... just hanging out being a rockstar.

***SINK SEEMS TO BE DRAINING PRETTY SLOW... should we look into that before we run into bigger sink-related issues?***

5/6/2013 12:09:0553Rebecca, Kumiko1Isis : Tissuey blood with a white long worm. pale gum. Hetastarch 75ml/30 minutes.4cc dextrose. Famotindine changed SID to BID ( all per Dr. Johnson).

5/6/2013 21:04:4851.5Kate, Nipuni12Isis - Small amount of bloody diarrhea, no vomit. Active, wanting to get out of cage, very responsive to SQ injection and baytril (yay!). Trying to bite at catheter, so got the cone of shame - is very dissatisfied about it. Seems nauseous when offered turkey. Force fed 7cc food after antiemetics.

Anastasia - looked pretty out of it when we first came in, but once we began treating, she started moving around a little bit (resisting me, mainly!), and much more alert. Lots of nasal discharge. No V/D, but a good amount of blood on the thermometer. Pink gums, 102.0 temp. Syringe fed 20cc (seems to enjoy it!) Please dont use the cages adjacent to hers for other pups since this one is a distemper watch. Treat last.
Sinsay tested negative.
Walrus can be tested after one more solid poop!
Orville needs 1-2 more solid poops before testing as well.

5/7/2013 10:45:2543Ayari, Hyeyeon, Rachael1Anastasia : she had greenish bloody diarrhea, the pump was beeping when we came in so we gave IV bolus.
We left some cloth hanging on his cage for nebulizing so that the next shift people can use it again.

1Isis : is walking well but dripping bloody diarrhea, explosive bloody diarrhea several times, hetastarch, replaced the catheter01Sinsay0None24G catheterSinsay will be discharged now.

5/8/2013 20:45:4061.5Marisa, Kevin, Rachel2Anastasia is looking ok (P, W), but still a little mucusy. Not tremoring or anything. Seems a lot better when compared to last week. Didn't eat or drink. She won't stand up on her own with made the PT stuff pretty lackluster.

Ranger had a 104.6 degree fever so he's on ice packs. He's perked up since the ice packs. He's leth but getting better the longer we're in here. We were going to take the ice packs off but his fever didn't go down very much and he seems to like them so we're going to leave them in there overnight.
2Isis is looking pretty good. He got up and tried to walk off when we left the door open.

Raindrop was really cooperative, drank a lot of water, but isn't eating.
No one yet.004Lana is loud and healthy.
Master P is bitey (we didn't treat).
Raindrop is sweet and easy but obviously nervous.
Ranger is the worst off of the newer ones.

5/10/2013 22:42:39123.5Sara, Christine2Isis: QAR, pink and warm. Dr. Johnson placed a catheter on her inside back leg. No vomit but did have lots of runny brown diarrhea. FF 12 cc of BF. Since she has edema due to low protein, if she holds it down, we should try to increase how much we give each time.

Ranger: QAR, pink and warm. Had yellow, bile vomit and mucousy green diarrhea. Also whining a lot :( FF 3 cc of BF.
3Blueberry: QAR, pink and warm. Had little bit of runny brown diarrhea and some yellow watery vomit. FF 3 cc of BF but spit it all out so gave Dextrose.

Nana: QAR, pink and warm. Drank water. FF 5 cc of BF. No diarrhea but vomited up the water and BF afterwards.

Master P: QAR, pink and warm. Had yellow watery vomit and some runny brown diarrhea. Didn't like FF at all so gave Dextrose. Wasn't growly at all!
None002Molly - QAR, pink and warm. Got SQs at AAC beforehand so just got Strongid tonight. No V/D. Ate some baby food.

5/11/2013 22:08:2782.5Lauren, Christine1Nana- She wasn't doing so great this evening, obviously not feeling well, QAR, but could go lethargic soon. Front leg catheter blown, so Nicole was nice enough to come back and place one in the back leg for us. Got hetastarch, cefazolin, oxytet, famotidine. Took temp and it was 101.8, so no fever. Also no v/d in cage. Didn't eat, but FF 6cc BF and kept it down. Also drank a little water. Keep a very close eye on her. Also moved her from a top cage to a bottom cage. Didn't give dextrose because FF stayed down. Bag should last until morning.1Rhino- QAR, seems to be doing alright. We moved him to one of the larger runs, since he's a bigger boy! Got bolus and cefazolin, eating a little, no v/d.none000metro, cerenia tabsTurkey, Paper Towels, Toilet PaperOdell and Molly each got SQ treatments, and both were eating and drinking. Odell also got orals. Tawny had a semi solid poop, and on orals, eating really well and drinking.
Lana is eating and drinking and pooping and peeing everywhere, like dogs do. Got metro.
Anastasia is doing really well, got out and walked around a little, although still a little shaky. Likes to cuddle, and is just the sweetest thing ever. We tried to nebulize, but the nebulizer seemed to not be working, nothing was coming out of it. Eating and drinking like a champ.
Raindrop is also doing well, on orals, eating, drinking, etc.

5/12/2013 9:52:0302Amy, Rebecca, Garrett01Nana: interested in food but not eating on her own, nothing bloody and no vomit. Very minor fever at 103 -give baytril SQ because it was such borderline and she was otherwise pretty healthy looking. Whiney and active first thing, chills out to QAR by end of shift. Got oxytetra, cef, fam also. Piggybacked bag with slightly higher KCl concentration (20meq as opposed to 10) because we couldn't make a new bag with the right amount of KCl. 000KCl Turkey, Paper Towels, Toilet Paper, Laundry Detergent, Chicken sticks Anastasia!!!!! She was walking around like a newborn fawn... Yeah, that's how wonderful it looked- I feel the need for poetics.
Rhino looks generally better.
All other dogs are eating so most injections were discontinued. Lots of guys on just metro or doxycycline or a combo.

Rhino, Odell, Tawny, Molly, Lana - all eating and will be ready as soon as they give us some solid poops!
000Cerenia tabs (any donations?)Paper Towels, Toilet PaperAnastasia the princess - walked around the ICU quite a bit (kept away from other pups' cages)! Lots of runny, dark brown diarrhea all over her cage and on herself. Dipped her paws and tails in warm water to remove urine and feces, wet wipes around other areas, and dried her off. She still sounds slightly congested and is still struggling with movement, although she is definitely improving. Offered her some EN + fortiflora softened with water.

Lets start using the EN for our puppies that are BAR, eating but still have runny poops!

Anastasia - BAR, pink and warm. No V/D. Ate three whole slices of turkey on her own, not so much of the wet food though. Drank water. Walked around for a while and got lots of cuddles :)

5/19/2013 21:17:4462Nipuni2Pajama Sam - His diarrhea is starting to become more brown, less bloody. QAR-lethargic. Got more hetastarch tonight. He's a big boy and on a high pump rate so dont forget to piggy back a new bag when/if needed!

Tallulah - QAR, pk, warm paws, walking around a bit, wagging her tail. Holding down 12cc of food (10 recovery, 2 nutrical) like a champ. No V/D on shift or seen on the blanket. Her pump was set to 3drops/minute as apposed to 3ml/hr!!! She was breathing abnormally due to this - check respiratory rate for the next few shifts. It's at 40 right now. She got a half dose of IV baytril due to temp. of 103.1
1Aurora - New intake. Had some water vomit, not diarrhea yet. QAR. Got SQs when she first came in, then had a catheter placed by Dr J and got cefazolin and hetastarch. temp is 101.0.Rose tested negative, woohoo!

Princess? (see additional notes)

Precious still hasnt pooped... its been 4 days!
1RIP Tinker :(
She had passed before me or Dr J had gotten into the icu, even though she didnt look too bad at mid-shift :(
01AuroraNoneNoneMake sure to write the results of your parvo test on the chart! Princess' chart doesnt indicate whether she is + or -.

Tallulah's pump had her on 3 DROPS per minute instead of 3ml/hr so she was getting more fluids than she was supposed to. Make sure you're always using the ml/hr setting. She is breathing abnormally now because of this. monitor resp rate.

The oxytetracycline is now GREEN instead of bright yellow! Please do not use this. I made oral doxycycline suspension which is in the fridge.

Good night! Time for me to take care of my own vomitting pup at home!

5/22/2013 21:03:4071.5Nipuni, Marisa, Rachel, Emily M (new)1Inigo Montoya - lethargic, lateral the whole time, can't seem to hold herself up really. I tried to get her to sit up while feeding but she just plopped back on her side. FF 3cc, spit up some mucous/saliva immediately (but there was no food in it). Had a little bit of mucousy yellow diarrhea. t=102.4. On a pump, catheter flushed and patent.4Pajama Sam- He is deaf! Ate a tiny bit. QAR. On SQs. He seems to have swelling and redness anywhere he had an IV, on his eye (right eye may be starting too), and his testicles. He may just have super sensitive skin b/c he seems to be a bully breed and they often do but I was wondering if he may also have some type of immune disorder...just a thought, I'm no Dr :)

Wesley - had a small pocket of fluid under his neck. QAR, FF 13cc. No V. Had green runny diarrhea. On a pump, catheter flushed and patent.

Buttercup - looking good and doing better than wesley. eating baby food from my hand, had ~20cc. No V/D. On a pump, catheter flushed and patent.

5/24/2013 10:07:5462Alicia, Cecilia, Kumiko06We're just waiting on poops from Tallulah and Aurora. Tater Tot is eating well! Off of the pump and we're anxiously awaiting his poops.
Pajama Sam is still tentative about eating, but liked some cream cheese.
Wesley had to be force fed and Buttercup was licking food from a syringe, but isn't eating from the bowl yet.
000NoneTurkey, Gloves - smallMake SURE when you make a new bag of IV fluids that you set a new volume on the pump.
Make sure when you make a new bag, to reset the mLs to be administered back to 1000, otherwise it will stop the fluids, even if there are still fluids in the bag.
Make sure to accommodate for the lapse in between shifts and bear that in mind.
When we came in this morning, Buttercup hadn't received IV fluids for heaven knows how long, because it was beeping and saying FINISHED while fluids were still in the bag.
I sometimes forget about it to, so everyone needs a reminder sometimes ;-)

(hopefully Tater Tot will be ready to test soon- has had a couple semi solid poos)
002Millie (see critical)
Malea: big scared girl. on SQ. Not eating but CRAZY thirsty-- we limited her water intake. Drooling a bunch and has a lot of eye discharge (eyes are swollen and super red- may want to check those out)
doxy suspension (took from clinic and they have none now)cotton ballsWesley: doing pretty well but not eating much.
Buttercup: catheter replaced (Rebecca's first on my own-- we'll see how long it lasts!), just on orals and cefazolin
Pajama Sam: eats especially well when little dogs are out and he gets to show off all the food he has. What a lover.
Tater Tot: as mentioned, 2 semi solids so hopefully on the road to parvo negative.

These CDs are no longer doing it for me. I think we should make mix CDs like the old days in honor of migraine awareness month (june). Anyone in? Before you ask... no... you are not allowed to include "who let the dogs out" on the CD.

We are running low on injectible cerenia. I'm working on a small fundraiser that will hopefully get us some cash to buy some. It'll basically be a parvo-awareness/fundraiser event at Zilker park and/or barton springs. We can pass out little fliers about parvo and vaccinating your puppy, and sell snacks and drinks. I'll send more information out later but if you're interested in helping me plan the event, please send me(nipuni)s an email!

Most pups had to have their bags piggybacked.

THANK YOU SO MUCH to Melissa for swinging in to my rescue. Thank you Kumiko for the loving spring into action attitude and willingness to come in. And thank you Won for making it in :) This team is incredible and I'm so happy to be a part of it.

We started the last bottle of Ampicillin, but morning shift will probably need more. There are no new IV lines, only the ones we re-use. I left a syringe of recovery in the fridge, anyone can get it tomorrow. I was gonna give it to Paps, but then he vomited a bunch while I went to get it.

6/13/2013 22:42:08113.5Katie, Rachel4Max: Bloody diarrhea, green vomit. Pink gums, cold feet. lethargic. Got two hetastarch boluses and two doses of dextrose per Dr. Johnson because he still looked awful after the first time. IV baytril. He looks awful now too, treat him first in the morning. Temp was 97.7 at the beginning of the shift, got him a sweater and put a blanket over him, up to 102.7 mid shift, so uncovered him halfway.

Mollie: Bloody diarrhea blowout, also vomited bloody, mucus-y vomit. IV baytril. Hetastarch CRI and fluid pump. Didn't FF because she vomited after anti-emetics.

Dopey: Bloody diarrhea, vomited after FF so gave dextrose. QAR, pink, warm. Fluid and hetastarch pumps. IV Tx, IV baytril moved to morning.

Flynn: No V/D this evening, but still pretty lethargic. IV pump. Held down FF, 9 cc Recovery. He's intermediate-ish, but pretty lethargic so I left him as critical.

Tried to replace Max's, not successful3Sleepy- diarrhea (no blood), seems to be holding down FF. QAR, pink warm.

Cookie- SQ treatment

JC- new this afternoon. QAR, pink, and warm. No V/D since she's been here. On IV fluids. She looks pretty good right now, though intake paperwork says she was very nauseated. Not interested in food. Very sweet!
4Flora- eating, orals

Janna- BAR, eating, orals, made herself a little cave :)

MInnie- BAR, eating, only on metro,

Gooch- eating lots, soft poop, BAR.
None00None1JC- See intermediate. AnzemetLaundry Detergent, ThermometersthermometersWe got 3 loads of laundry done, but it's really piling up back there.

This is the second shift I've found the needles for CRI hetastarch disconnected from the fluid line even though they were taped in. When you tape in needles/lines that need to stay in (because there's not a screw-on port), make sure to tape it really well, probably with at least one loop around the fluid line that's actually in the catheter and another couple of loops around the hetastarch needle and line, not just one loop around everything. Thanks for labeling the tape, though, it makes it easy to figure out that the hetastarch line should be connected and came loose.

I can only find one thermometer and it's not working real well. We shouldn't be immersing them in water to wash, just wipe all visible debris off then spray with alcohol and let dry. I think a lot of the thermometers stop working because they are getting washed in the sink and the water ruins the electronics.

6/14/2013 11:09:42103Maria P, Emily M3Mollie: most critical, on hetastarch CRI, bloody diarrhea, vomiting, QAR and cold feet but 103.4F temp

Dopey: still on IV baytril and hetastarch CRI, but no diarrhea this morning. Likes to tangle IV lines, please make sure to write down how much was left in the bags! Both were stopped this morning, not sure how much of heta/fluids he got overnight. Seems to feel better now that they are flowing

Max: generally okay, warm and QAR. handled 4ccs FF well. Shivering so we covered him up
5Flynn: doing much better! QAR, FF 9ccs baby food. on oral sucralfate, still IV cefazolin and famotidine. No dextrose in IV bag any more. Sneezing a bit, watch for possible URI

Flora: BAR, all oral meds, ate on her own. Scratched neck and bust open a cyst/abscess this morning. On clavamox PO per Dr Johnson, we tried to clean it up a bit but she's quite squirmy. keep an eye on it.

JC: QAR, had some watery brown diarrhea and mucous-y vomit later in shift. not eating.

Sleepy: QAR, on IV meds and SQ baytril. FF 3ccs baby food

Cookie: SQ treatment, QAR, still does not like being poked. Handled PO meds well, not eating on own
2Gooch: eating like a pig, does not like when other dogs get near his kennel.

Minnie: only on metro - please watch her, she may go downhill. Did not want wet food this morning
01Janna!0KCl - only 0.6mLs left, so new bags do not have itNoneonly one box 10cc syringes

6/14/2013 22:59:19103.5Lauren, Rachel3Max- QAR, jugular catheter placed earlier this evening. IV baytril, cefazolin, anzemet, and famotidine. FF a little baby food and seemed to hold it down. She is not feeling well, keep a very close eye on her. A little bit of greenish D. no v.

Molli- QAR/leth, although part of this may be due to an earlier dose of buprinex. Not doing very well, also keep a close eye. Had BD and had vomit both before and during shift, so didn't attempt to FF. Got IV baytril, cefazolin, anzemet, famotidine. She seems to be a little more alert towards the end of shift, which is good.

JC- QAR. Had some runny D, but not bloody. Held down some FF baby food. Got cefazolin and anzemet IV
Max got a jugular catheter this pm5Sleepy- QAR, runny D and watery V. Got all IV meds.

Minnie- QAR, very adorable. Had a solid poop, but had some watery V. FF baby.

Flynn- QAR, ate on his own tonight. IVC patent. Sneezing, so probably has URI. He had 20 mg of pepcid on his chart, but only gave him 10 mg, because that was all we had left of pepcid.

Finnigan- Put him on the pump w/ reglan. He started w/ 104 temp, put cold packs on him, and at end of shift was 102.3. no FF due to him being extremely nauseous.

Dopey- QAR- doing pretty well, FF baby food, Catheter blown this evening, so he was disconnected.

2Gooch- Had some throw up, but we think it's because he ate too fast, the food wasn't even digested! Otherwise doing very well

Cookie- injections d/c, just on pepcid. Didn't eat on her own yet, but maybe tomorrow.

Dopey ate so fast he made himself sick and sleepy did have some d but gave some more food after meds and they have kept it down nicely.

00NoneCritical care or Recovery food, Gloves - medium, black bagsGloves - mediumPeggy got all of the ice out of the freezer but it needs to be completely unplugged and defrosted for probably 2 days. When we have time we can do this.
Also we noticed a few bags that were open but not dated or not labeled SQ....we were unsure if it does not say SQ on it can we still use it for that? I tossed all bags that weren't dated. Also noticed a lot of bags with reglan on the wall that were not covered...are they still good???
Thanks all....keep an eye of Minnie.

oh one last thing....we poured bleach water down Gooches drain do to sooo much poop that had fallen through it and a large roach crawled up and died, rip....can we bleach those out from time to time....they get very musty smelling from urine and vomit that land through there.
