GENERAL TUNE - Go to the garage and note down at what rpm you hit maxiumum engine power. Play around
4
with the "top speed" slider in the tuning menu until you roughly hit your top speed at this rpm in top gear.
5
Special Stage X is the perfect track for this. Tweak the FD until you are dead on the optimum rpm at top

speed. You will need to reduce FD if you go past the optimum revs in top gear before reaching top speed

Goto the tuning screen and multiply 1st gear ratio by FD ratio and put the result in box G2. Multiply 6th gear
14
6th0.980ratio by the FD ratio and put the result in box G3. Never touch these again.
15
16
Step 3
17
Enter your FD ratio into box G7. If you change this ratio from the one you used to perform steps 1 and 2,
18
the spreadsheet will automatically recalculate 1st and 6th gear to keep them the same as what you found
19
in step 1.
20
21
Step 4
22
Now you just have to manipulate the figure in box G6 ("peakiness") until you are happy with the gearing.
23
The peakiness value determines just how much we shorten the ratios between gears 3,4, and 5. This value
24
must always be greater than 1. A good default setting is 1.4. Going higher makes 3,4, and 5 even closer
25
together. Going lower does the opposite.
