(1)This spreadsheet is intended to list equipment for the Seed Factory Project by project phases. It includes conventional and Project-made custom items. It will be a dynamic document, updated as the design progresses and equipment is acquired or built. We are using Google Sheets to make it easier for project contributors to collaborate. Eventually copies can be exported into other formats for local use (e.g. shopping lists at machine tool auctions, etc.)
11
(2)In addition to this general notes tab, each phase of the project has a separate tab, found below. In turn, these phase lists will be divided into candidate items, planned additions, and existing inventory categories by type of equipment. Multiple similar items may be listed as candidates until selections are made, or where it allows people to work in parallel.
12
(3)General notes will be collected in this tab, while sections in the other tabs can have specific notes unique to them.
13
(4)Each tab accounts for quantities at the start and end of that phase, and planned and actual changes within the phase. Since equipment will accumulate from one phase to the next, line items can appear on multiple tabs when their amounts change. They do not need to be repeated if there is no change - it is assumed to carry over from the previous phase. In the case of equipment being removed (e.g. if replaced by a larger or better item) then the "planned" quantity will be negative.
14
(5)We plan to use the same functional breakdown and numbering system as with the other project work, so that this list can be compared to flow diagrams, construction drawings, etc.
15
(6)In addition to one tab per phase, we also have an "Unsorted" tab to hold items that have not yet been sorted into a particular phase, have incomplete data, are new suggestions, etc.
16
(7)As a starting point, we are drawing from existing equipment lists, and modifying them as our self-expanding designs are developed. Lists used to date are: Artisan's Asylum makerspace, MIT FabLab to line 789 (see about acquiring reference books or equivalents), HS makerspace.
17
(8)In item listings, "=" means "equivalent product to", and "=>" means "equivalent or better than" the item listed. Exact brands and models are not required if the same functionality can be provided by other ones.
