|*It is the policy of the board of education of Ogden City School District, in partnership with parents and families and in accordance with state and federal guidelines to establish a parent and family involvement procedural framework.|
*It is the policy of the Board of Education of Ogden City School District that the district and schools coordinate with families to improve student academic rediness to learn and academic outcomes.
*It is the policy of the Board of education of Ogden City School District that the district and schools will inform all stakeholders of the parent and family involvement policy and procedures, and annually update its effectiveness.
|Some examples of Parent Engagement Activities at Ben Lomond High School are:|
|*Involve incoming 10th graders and their parents in a BL orientation night. The time will include clan/club exploration, presentation to students by teachers, cheerleaders, students, and admin. Parent presentations will be by admin and include basic information on how to be involved as aprents both academically and wih extracurriculars.|
|*Increased ineraction by parents as their student transitions to high school. This includes awareness of how to access SIS, programs available, important dates, etc. Dinner will be provided.|
|*Participation in the past for this event has been lean. Changing the time and providing meals will increase participation.|
|*More than 200 students and their families attended - more than double any orientation we'd ever had.|
|Our literacy goalis two-fold, the first part building a baseline for data in the second half of the school year. First, we will improve students' vocabulary comprehension in every content area through the instruction and use of metacognitive strategies focused on vocabulary comprehension as measured by teacher implementation (implemented in first semester, so completed by January 26, 2019). Hattie's research shows the use of metacognitive strategies has a .69 effect size and that the use of teaching strategies has a .6 effect size. Next, student reading comprehension will be measured using the TABE test and/or SRI during the 2nd half of the school year.|
|The BLHS graduation goal for 2019 is 93% There will be a net increase of students in the “green” category at each grade level by January 25, 2019. |
10th grade will have a net increase of 15% (25 additional students will move into the "green" category).
11th grade will have a net increase 17% (38 students will move into the "green" category).
12th grade will have a net increase of 24% of students on track. (45 additional students will move into the "green" category).
