Notes:

Courses in bold font are prerequisites and requirements for the BA major in Hawaiian Studies and/or MEdT. See page 2 for additional information about the
30
teaching methods courses required for MEdT (STE404G or 401 in Spring, Year 4 and 404D or Alpha in Fall, Year 5.)
31
HWST 442, is the gateway course for the pathway, which requires a grade "B" or better.
32
*Courses are double counted for both the BA and MEdT (9 credits): HWST 601, HWST 6XX AOC, and STE 604B. For all three double-counted courses, the
33
student must earn grades of "B" or better. Total credits for the BAM Pathway is 166, including these 9 double-counted credits. These courses are offered every
34
year in the semesters identified above. See bullet below for additional information about STE 604B. See p. 2 for additional information about the HWST 6XX AOC
35
and how these courses will be counted for the BA and MEdT. *HWST 6XX AOC Hawaiian Studies Area of Concentration Courses: HWST 640, 690, 691.
36
†Courses are excess credits (7 total), which are part of the required course work for the MEdT: STE 600, 602B, and a Research Methods course.
37
These courses are offered every year in the semesters identified above. Given the cohort nature of the MEdT, these three excess credit courses need to be taken
38
together, in sequence during the first year of the graduate program.
39
**BAM students will take SPED 444 or 445 and STE 404G or 401 as undergraduate electives and the MEdT program will waive these 6 credits as long as they pass
40
with a B or better. Therefore, there are 46 credits for the MEdT, but 40 of them will be taken as a graduate student.
41
Students are highly encouraged to maintain regular communication with their academic advisor throughout the BAM pathway.
