Throughout 2018 and 2019, the GIIN, with the contribution of over 850 stakeholders, evolved IRIS, which since 2008 and to that point had exclusively been a catalog of standardized social and impact performance metrics most widely used by impact investors worldwide, into IRIS+, the generally accepted system for measuring, managing, and optimizing impact. One main update in IRIS+ is an upgraded version of the IRIS Catalog of Metrics, IRIS 5.3, which was released in June, 2022. This document is a downloadable version of the IRIS 5.3 Catalog of metrics. It also includes the IRIS 5.3 Glossary and Reference Lists. An accompanying resource, the IRIS 5.2 to 5.3 Upgrade Guide, which explains in detail the material differences between IRIS 5.2 and IRIS 5.3, can also be downloaded via the IRIS+ website: https://iris.thegiin.org/catalog/download/

The IRIS+ system includes the ability of users to provide comments and express interest in joining the IRIS+ Working Group. Comments provided through the website are reviewed, responded to where appropriate, and logged for the planning of future versions.
