General guidance

Timetables are provisional as classes are offered subject to viability of student numbers and availability of staff. Contact time may also vary according to the size of the group.

Please note that the times are provisional and will be confirmed at the start of the semester. Teaching is mainly delivered through a two-hour seminar and a one-hour language tutorial, however some modules have more contact hours and follow a slightly different structure. We have returned to face-to-face teaching and all of our seminars and tutorials will be delivered in person. Seminars will be in groups of up to 23 students and tutorials will be in groups of up to 15 students.

Please note that the MLTC uses the University of Sheffield's standard teaching weeks on its timetables in relation to classes and submission deadlines.

Generally, when there are several groups, the seminar group and the tutorial group are allocated independently from one another (e.g. you may be allocated to Group 2 for the seminar and Group 4 for the tutorial).

Most of our courses comprise a 2 hour seminar followed by a 1 hour tutorial, however some modules/languages have 4 or 5 contact hours that are split into a two seminars and a tutorial and may follow a slightly different structure. Please see the individual language timetable pages for information regarding specific modules.
