Mayfield road, by the roundabout with the petrol station & Spar shop.
No safe crossing/no pavement. Crossing is so close to a fast and busy roundabout. The only way to get across is wait for someone to stop the traffic. Visibility is poor. It's very dangerous, moreso with a wheelchair.
Walking, Wheelchair (manual or power assisted), Mobility Scooter, With Pram/Pushchair/Buggy
Extend the pavement along the grass to further down the road and add the same kind of crossing (island) or, better still, a zebra crossing).

Bus stops up Kirkham Road, Whitby
Multiple cars constantly parked in bus stops meaning we have to alight the bus in a dangerous manner with the wheelchair
Wheelchair (manual or power assisted), With Pram/Pushchair/Buggy
Enforce parking rules and deter people from parking in bus stops. It is a very normalised behaviour in Whitby which seems an odd thing to tolerate. Create better parking solutions for residents.

Adding a graduated slope would make this more accessible. Adding rails like the west pier would also be a great idea.

Path has eroded so much that it's too scary to risk with a wheelchair
Wheelchair (manual or power assisted)
Protection for the cliff, regular evaluation for safety, perhaps a new path to reflect the changes and make it safer.

Kirkham Road-Rivelaux road. These paths need jet washing - they've been treacherously slippy over autumn and winter which is terrifying with a wheelchair. It's the only route to the doctor's surgery but it's never gritted during icy weather which has prevented us from accessing healthcare.
The community nearby is almost all elderly and disabled folks, it should be a given that the paths are made safe.
Steep slope but also badly maintained.
Wheelchair (manual or power assisted)
Jetwashed paths, properly maintained. Gritted in winter as appropriate.

No pedestrian lights for safe crossing
Walking, Wheelchair (manual or power assisted), Mobility Scooter, With Pram/Pushchair/Buggy, Affects everyone
There are lights for traffic in both directions but no pause or indicator of safety to cross for pedestrians and limited visibility. This is extremely dangerous with a wheelchair and could easily be remedied.

My little boy is in a wheelchair and would love to go on a boat ride. He can walk small distances and sensible steps but the steps to the boats are very old and unsafe. Imagine how many more locals and tourists would be served by safer methods to board boats.

Pedestrian path next to airy hill primary school/waterstead lane
Steep Slope
Walking, Wheelchair (manual or power assisted), Mobility Scooter, With Pram/Pushchair/Buggy
This path is great for being safe from traffic but seems to have been installed without thought. There's plenty of space to stagger the incline and make it more user friendly. Especially as it gets muddy and slippery there.

Bottom entrance to the park and many of the paths are not accessible. Plenty of space to sort it. Better signage for which paths lead to steps etc would be handy.

Wheelchair (manual or power assisted), Mobility Scooter, With Pram/Pushchair/Buggy
Many tourist/beach towns do work to make the beaches accessible for all. A wheelchair friendly walkway serves a multitude of access needs.
Paths to the beach are all very steep - the easiest slope by the west pier is very dry so the hardest to manoeuvre across. A small change could mean a great deal. Hire of a beach wheelchair isn't the solution most days unless you want to get close/in the water.
This could also seevce disabled people who want to do fossil walks etc as part of education.

Walking, Wheelchair (manual or power assisted), With Pram/Pushchair/Buggy
I don't know what can be changed but wheelchair users weren't thought of at all for access to this hospital. The incredibly steep hill, there are no dropped curbs or pavements coming out of the basement exit so you just have to hope no cars come up. The hill is incredibly steep all around the hospital. I'm not sure how we'll access it when the weather is icy/snowy. We've had to purchase a special strap to tether the wheelchair to the person pushing specifically for this hill because it's scary.
