Studio 4/4 started at Lo-fi over five years ago, since then we worked to bring the biggest names ever in house and techno to the NW. Artists like Richie Hawtin, Maya Jane Coles, Maceo Plex, Danny Tenaglia, Tale of Us, Claude Von Stroke, Hot Since 82, The Black Madonna, Nicole Moudaber, Green Velvet, Duke Dumont, Gessaffelstein, The Martinez Brothers, and Alan Fitzpatrick are among the 250+ international headliners.

Over the past 5 years, their sound has expanded to encompass the rock ‘n’ roll past and funky present of their hometown of Seattle, WA. The band’s songwriting continues to evolve, blending fresh horn hooks with powerful vocal melodies. The live Tubaluba experience is a high-energy combination of a stage show and street parade. The stage show has the feeling of a rock ‘n’ roll tent revival with fans chanting vocal hooks and trying out dance moves alongside the band’s soundtrack. The band has also been known to become “Tubalubradours” and head out into the crowd to, sometimes quite literally, take the party to the street.Their new album, Champagne Sunday, is an extension of their live show. Big vocal hooks, crackin’ horn lines, and those New Orleans grooves filtered through the rock n roll, funk machine that is present day Seattle. This album finds ways to move you and groove you. This is not trad jazz. This is not old school. This is something new. This is Jambalaya Brass Rock.Tubaluba has shared the stage with many of New Orleans finest, including Big Sam, Preservation Hall, and Rebirth Brass Band. Several members of the group have played with national powerhouses such as Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Sophistaphunk, the Polyrhythmics, and Odesza. They are becoming a national powerhouse in their own right. Come on and join the parade!

This event takes place on the occupied, unceded, ancestral territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) nation and the Coast Salish peoples more broadly. Our ability to work, play, and organize on this land is tied directly to the violence against these communities, past and present. Due to the intersecting forces of colonialism, poverty, institutional racism, and intergenerational trauma (among other factors), indigenous people experience overdoses at a rate three times higher than the general public. These facts must be in the forefront of our minds and actions as we undertake this work.

This event will happen come rain come shine, your ticket is not refundable!

There will be no in & outs allowed at the event; once you are in, you're in.

This is a wheelchair accessible event. If you need additional accommodation, please contact us 72 hours prior to the event.

Three rising stars in the Portland music scene share their versions of soul music, each take as different as the songwriter singing it. This night will be a powerful musical collaboration between three artists never seen together on stage. Great songwriting, outstanding vocals, and music inspired by soul, blues, roots, jazz, R&B and rock.

These three women love to write and sing, have been regulars on stages throughout the pacific northwest for years, and have been inspired by soul music. That is where the similarities end. Karyn Ann draws comparisons to 60’s troubadours like Carole King and modern singers like Brandi Carlisle, and her approach to soul has been heavily influenced by them. Bre Gregg (Red Bird) dances between soul and roots and if you close your eyes, you will hear her years of listening to Bonnie Raitt as a child while singing into her hairbrush at top volume. Michalangela combines elements of neo-soul, R&B, jazz and rock into an intricate and accessible sound bringing to mind singers like Erykah Badu, Little Dragon and Emily King.

This night will be something special…don’t miss three outstanding songwriters sharing their music together for the first time. You will leave feeling inspired by their creative ways they have taken soul music, and made it uniquely their own.

Music legend and Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson and iconic British pop pioneers The Zombies announced today a North American tour celebrating the music from the late 1960’s and early 1970’s called ‘Something Great from 68’and beyond.

The tour will kick off August 31st at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas and will visit 15 cities with more to be added celebrating an evening of historic music, collaboration and harmonies to fans. VIP ticket packages are also available. Fans should visit or for ticket links and more information.

Former Beach Boys bandmates Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin will again join Wilson and his band to create some of the most cherished music of that time. The newly inducted Rock and Roll Hall of famers The Zombies will open the shows with all original founding members (minus guitarist Paul Atkinson, who passed away in 2004) performing on stage alongside the newer members of the band.

With the theme leaning toward the music of 1968 and beyond, Wilson and his long-time band will be performing selections from his two of his favourite albums – “Friends” and “Surf’s Up” – as well as rare gems along with the biggest hits that he created with the Beach Boys.

"'Pet Sounds' is by far my very best album, though my favorite is 'Friends'," stated Brian.

Additionally, The Zombies will perform their seminal album “Odessey & Oracle” in its entirety – a record that features classics like “Time of the Season” – and other selections from their 50+ year career, which began with the 1964 smash “She’s Not There”, and continues with their latest Billboard-charting album “Still Got That Hunger”.

“It’s been quite a year and I’m ready to go out and tour some music that makes everyone have a feel good vibe,” says Wilson. “The Friends album has always been one of my favourites, and I love the music from that time in history. I’m psyched to go out with The Zombies who have some of the best harmonies ever.”

“For at least the last five years, we’ve expressed the thought to our management that a tour with Brian Wilson would feel to us pretty much like the perfect pairing. Now it’s something we’re actually able to look forward to, and with a great deal of excitement - particularly as, along with a whole set featuring our fantastic current band, we’ll be performing “Odessey & Oracle” in its entirety, with all remaining originals plus expanded forces, so that every note from the original album will be reproduced! Roll on autumn - we can’t wait!” - Rod Argent

Brian Wilson began his career as a teenaged founding member of The Beach Boys, who signed with Capitol Records in July 1962 and released their first album, Surfin’ Safari, that same year. The band’s initial surf-rock focus was soon broadened to include other themes. Wilson’s innovative vocal and instrumental arrangements for major hits including “I Get Around,” “California Girls,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” “God Only Knows,” and the No. 1 smash “Good Vibrations” established The Beach Boys as America’s preeminent band of the 1960s.

Wilson has also achieved great success as a solo artist with 11 of his own albums released to-date, including his acclaimed 2004 completion of an album he first began recording in the ‘60s, Brian Wilson Presents… SMiLE. The album earned Wilson his first GRAMMY® for a recording, which was followed by his second GRAMMY® win for producing The Beach Boys’ acclaimed 2011 release, The SMiLE Sessions.

Wilson is also a Kennedy Center Honors recipient, a Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, a multiple-GRAMMY® award winner, and a U.K. Music Hall of Fame inductee. As a member of The Beach Boys, Wilson was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and honored with The Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.

Iconic British psychedelic pop legends The Zombies are celebrating their long-awaited induction into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. After receiving their 4th nomination in 5 years, the support for The Zombies’ induction among the public and their peers was undeniable. On March 29, 2019 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, The Zombies joined Stevie Nicks, Radiohead, The Cure, Def Leppard, Janet Jackson, and Roxy Music as the 2019 Class of The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Fittingly, the Induction Ceremony took place exactly 50 years to-the-day after The Zombies’ classic “Time of the Season” first hit #1 on the charts in America.

Never content to only look back, The Zombies are also touring in support of their latest Billboard -charting album, Still Got That Hunger, led by founding and current members, vocalist Colin Blunstone and keyboardist Rod Argent, alongside Steve Rodford on drums, and renowned session guitarist Tom Toomey. New member, Søren Koch, joined the band following the untimely passing of The Zombies' beloved bassist Jim Rodford (formerly of ARGENT and The Kinks) in early 2018.

The band’s live performances, described by Rolling Stone as “absolutely triumphant,” take fans on a journey through time, from their early hits…their 1968 masterpiece Odessey & Oracle …post-Zombies solo favorites…right to today with Still Got That Hunger.

Having recently made his inaugural outing on Brainfeeder with “Aphelion EP”, British producer Ross From Friends aka Felix Clary Weatherall returns with his debut album, “Family Portrait”, on Flying Lotus’s label. With a handful of revered 12”s under his belt via Breaker Breaker, Lobster Theremin, Distant Hawaii, Magicwire and a 10” on Molten Jets. “Family Portrait” showcases Weatherall’s ability to shift and evolve, moving from the world of lo-fi to the world of FlyLo, demonstrating a versatility exemplified by the ease in which he can switch between playing shows with Little Dragon and holding down a peak-time slot in Berghain’s Panorama Bar.

Enlisting the skills of two friends to build out his arrangements into a live show, John Dunk on sax and keys and Jed Hampson on electric guitar, the band have been touring extensively at venues and festivals around the world including The Roundhouse, BBC Maida Vale Studios for Radio 1’s Residency, Primavera Sound and Parklife to name a few.

His affiliation with music came through his dad, who built up a sound system in the 1980s and toured it in a van to various squat parties around Europe—and it wasn't long before Weatherall's own experiments began. He divided his time between making music in bands and solo work, operating under a slew of different aliases, before becoming Ross From Friends in 2012.

Your new weekly destination for house & techno every Thursday at Kremwerk

Daniel Avery

“Electronic music is unique in that, whilst it has an immediate effect on the body, the culture surrounding it has the ability to run deep into your life. Whenever I’m in a club, I want to give myself up to music. This is the very thing that excites me the most. Witnessing a DJ create an atmosphere in a room from the ground up takes patience and effort from everyone present but when the pivotal moments hit, your watch stops ticking.”

It is this thinking which motivated and inspired the making of Daniel Avery’s entry into the treasured DJ-Kicks series. Across its 78 minutes the mix creates a hypnotic space focusing on “music by some like-minded souls” from the outer reaches of techno. It is a mix concerned with the idea of taking a collective breath and allowing records their own space.

“The music that always hits hardest is what I’d consider to be unreal, something that sounds like it comes from another place entirely and moves at its own pace. I want to create those moments where opening your eyes on a dance floor becomes difficult. When the outside world is nothing more than a distant thought.” The mix also features three new original Avery productions including a track from Rote, a project with BleeD boss Volte-Face. It follows three years’ worth of studio experimentation in-between a life spent on the road touring the enormous success of debut record, Drone Logic. Released on Erol Alkan’s wildly psychedelic Phantasy label, reviews were unanimous in praise: “A mesmerising debut” (Mixmag); “In a league of its own” (NME); “Exceptional” (The Times); “One of the finest techno albums of the year” (The Quietus); “Underground dance music with this much ambition hasn’t been heard in quite a while” (Resident Advisor); “Avery owns this space” (Pitchfork); “A benchmark for so many other dance albums to aspire to” (Dummy).

Its success was furthered by the fact that Drone Logic didn’t really fit expected templates of what a dance record today should sound like. There are no set piece vocals; when voices emerge on tracks, they are invariably disembodied, odd. And as distortion whips across techno-based backing tracks, it splices modern club music with the kind of sounds that forward thinking guitar bands might conjure up. The result was a wholly compelling, gloriously transcendent album and one that continues to strike a chord with new listeners.

Coming off the back of 2012’s much-lauded FABRICLIVE 66 compilation, many of Drone Logic’s early demos were first tested at the London clubbing institution. Whilst Avery claims that his music is affected by every stop on a relentless tour schedule, one that has cemented his position in Resident Advisor’s “Top DJs” poll for several years straight, his debut was a record very much conceived in fabric. It seemed natural, therefore, for his residency to be taken one step further with Divided Love, “a semi regular gathering and a chance to present acts who are doing something special; music for the mind…”

The night, now expanded across Europe and beyond, has already played host to the likes of DJ Nobu, Helena Hauff, Voices From The Lake, Xosar, Kassem Mosse, Dopplereffekt, Answer Code Request, Lee Gamble, Voiski, Factory Floor and Objekt to name a small handful. Furthermore, a distinct line can be drawn between Divided Love and the double album of carefully curated remixes that followed Drone Logic: New Energy. Featuring reworks from Rødhåd to Powell, Silent Servant to Roman Flügel, Perc to Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve, it stands with the DJ-Kicks CD as yet another testament to the strength of the current state of affairs in underground electronic music, borne out of one of its most original talents.

Mob Tactics seem to be a name on people’s lips more and more of late. Already renowned for their inimitable style of techy – yet very funky, dancefloor orientated Drum & Bass, the duo appear to be going from strength-to-strength with each release. Their tunes are already firm staples in the sets of Andy C, Friction, Matrix & Futurebound, DJ Hype and Audio, to name but a few, and the demand for them on the DJ circuit is rapidly gaining momentum.

Fast forward a few years and the boys are in full swing. 2011/2012 saw several releases on the duos own imprint: Tactical Recordings – including the critically acclaimed ‘Kansas’ and a track for BTK’s Dutty Audio label entitled ‘Prang’. But it was 2013 that proved to be the most successful year to date. The dancehall tinged hit: ‘Crazy Hype’, featuring ragga legend, Elephant Man, was snapped up by Playaz. Their remix of Cause4Concern’s early 2000 anthem: ‘Soul’went on to feature in the sets of just about every man and his dog! Prolix snatched up ‘Grotbags’ for his Trendkill imprint, and legendary Andy C signed up ‘Wolf Trap’ exclusively for the sixth installment of his hugely successful ‘Nightlife’ compilations.

Now moving into the next chapter of their careers, Mob Tactics have signed exclusively to Futurebound’s Viper Recordings label with their debut single ‘Neon God’. Walking the fine line between uplifting and underground, ‘Neon God’ signals the exclusive and triumphant pairing of Viper Recordings and Mob Tactics which is going make a lot of noise, both figuratively and literally.

A veteran of the Canadian DnB scene, Pacific’s music has been supported by Andy C, Pendulum, Bad Company, Ed Rush & Optical and includes collab releases with Noisia, Concord Dawn and Mayhem. His sets run the full spectrum at 174bpm, from light to dark, liquid to tech, always rollin, always mixed with pace and purpose. This fall is set to be an exciting one for Pacific as he joins the #RAMily.

One third of MOD3S (Pacific /Krusha), Chris has a vast amount of talent as a producer and sound engineer. You can quickly hear this behind every track he touches. Catch him for a special Bday set at our massive 1 year anniversary event!

Ranked 68 on’s Top 100 DJs List in 2005, Donald skyrocketed to 48 this year and his genius keeps on growing…

Born in Tacoma, Washington, Donald’s love for music began at an early age. Originally a disciplined student of classical music, he was well-versed in the upright bass and violin. Any aspirations Donald had to continue in the classical vein vanished once he heard his first house record. With an ear for blending music already under his belt, and a love for the energy and soul of musical prodigies like George Clinton and Funkadelic, Donald began to amass a collection of house records which he taught himself to mix with a pair of mismatched turntables and a Radio Shack mixer. Before Donald few DJs had attempted to spin house records. Donald’s fine ear helped him give birth to a new style. After mastering his craft, Donald began DJing in various clubs around Tacoma and Seattle. During that time he made several important connections which would launch his music to the forefront of what was quickly becoming one of the largest underground movements since New Wave in the late-70s. Perhaps the greatest connection Donald made was with another aspiring DJ and friend, DJ Dan.

Together Donald & DJ Dan sparked the rave scene in Seattle and developed large followings. Knowing that Donald possessed an energy and ability to work the crowd that was unparalleled to anyone else on the circuit, Dan convinced San Francisco’s legendary Funky Tekno Tribe to bring down his good friend Donald to play at one of their parties. Donald’s talents quickly made him a permanent fixture on F.T.T.’s roster. Some DJs seek commercial acceptance. Donald, on the other hand, has always preferred an emotional connection with his audience. For Donald, house music is not simply a mixed bag of sound, but rather an experience that provokes the soul. Apart from his mastery on the decks, Donald is best known for his dynamic showmanship. He enjoys his music as much as his audience does. Embracing their energy, it is not uncommon to find Donald pumping his hands in the air, jumping up and down and shouting back his love to the crowd. It is this powerful signature style which has led fellow DJ and musical producer, Dave Aude, to call Donald the “James Brown of DJs.” Donald also caused some stir in 2005 and 2006 with his residency at ICE Nightclub in Las Vegas.

Donald’s uncompromising style and innovation show no sign of slowing down any time soon. With the credit of 5 full-length CDs and numerous remixes under his belt, Donald has focused much of his time to production work. Producing such dance floor hits as “Get Up” and “Soul Cha Cha”. As such, Donald has launched two record labels in which are causing rumblings in the industry...

Tom Marshall, known to the world as Marsh, is a British deep and progressive house producer currently residing in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born to a musical family in Brighton UK, Marsh became a classically trained pianist at an early age. In 2009, he embarked on his music production journey and spent three years studying Music Technology at University in London.

Marsh’s passion for electronic music began with the three disk album compilation 'Classic Euphoria’. Over the years his musical tastes deepened, but always remained loyal to the emotions found in early trance music. These early inspirations have continued to contribute to Marsh’s signature atmospheric and melodic sound.

’Sleeping Now’, released on Silk Music in October 2012 grabbed the attention of Above & Beyond and was supported as ‘Record Of The Week’ and ‘Web Vote Winner’ on their radio show; amongst the top 10 most downloaded music podcasts on iTunes. Marsh has since remixed Above & Beyond’s ‘Counting Down The Days’, released on Anjunabeats in March 2016 and later received the invite to be the featured guest mix on the acclaimed radio show.

In June 2017, Marsh released his debut artist album ‘Life On The Shore’. ‘Make' from the album accumulated over 7.5 million streams on Spotify alone. Marsh spent the majority of 2018 producing a wealth of new music. Meanwhile his Spotify page has accumulated over 9.8 million streams and reaches 3 million listeners. In November, Marsh embarked on a new adventure with Above & Beyond’s Anjunadeep imprint. His label debut ‘Black Mountain’ was played on BBC Radio One.

Marsh is a touring artist, featured on the 2019 Anjunadeep Open Air tour and supporting Above & Beyond on multiple Group Therapy tour dates in addition to headlining some of the most prestigious venues around the world. Marsh was recently featured on the Anjunadeep Edition mix and has so far announced two EPs with the renowned label.

Nox Vahn

Nox Vahn first began his journey under the alias ‘Fairchild.’ His prior name might have a familiar ring to it, and that’s because Fairchild first burst onto the underground music scene in 2015 by catching the attention of internationally-acclaimed DJ and Grammy-nominated music producer, Kaskade, who began to release and support Fairchild’s music on his newly founded record label, Arkade.

The young, classically-trained musician was immediately recognized on a global scale as an exceptionally exciting electronic-music-producer to watch, promptly earning him support from a wide range of the biggest names in dance music history including Above & Beyond, Paul Oakenfold, Hernan Cattaneo, Sander Van Doorn, Henry Saiz, Lane 8, Eelke Kleijn, Jeremy Olander, and a nod from the “Pied Piper of Dance” himself, Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1.

Soon, word of the up-and-coming American artist made its way across the pond where he was picked up by London based record labels, Anjunadeep & Anjunabeats. The powerhouse sister-labels both went on to feature a total of 5 of the aspiring American’s productions as standout moments in their chart-topping and legendary compilation albums in Anjunadeep 9 & 10 and most recently, Anjunabeats vol. 14.

In early 2019, the musician announced a brand change, citing complications with the name ‘Fairchild’. In an open statement, he genuinely explained the struggles he’s had and reassured fans that the branding changes would have no impact on his sound or style, stating “I’m still making whatever music I would have made as Fairchild. It’s still me in the studio, only now, I have a new name and brand I can call my own. It’s something I 100% believe in and can feel confident operating in for years to come.”

The highly-anticipated alias reveal was met with excitement and interest from fans and industry professionals alike. When asked how he came up with the name, he mysteriously responded that he felt like ‘Nox Vahn’ chose him, and not the other way around.

He would go on to perform at some of the most legendary venues in the United States including Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, and the Brooklyn Mirage in New York; while supporting names like Kaskade, Above & Beyond, and Lane 8 on tour; and continuing to see highly successful releases on labels such as Kaskade’s Arkade, and London based powerhouse label, Anjunadeep.

Clearly, Nox has proven himself worthy of a seat at the underground table. He has vowed to continue to explore the depths of his mind and electronic music - and with his heavy progressive influence and signature dark sound, he will continue to win the hearts and minds of people around the world - a shining beacon calling out to all of those who will listen 🌒

About JX-216:

Formerly known as Milkplant, JX-216 is a new alias developed by veteran San Francisco Techno DJ/Producer, Justin William Pennell over the last several years. Schooled in the Midwest and developed on the West Coast, his work encompasses well over 30 years of combined DJ/production experience, and over 10 years of record label management.

In 2008 he began the internationally recognized label, From 0-1 with fellow artist Sone. His newly updated Live PA (which we will enjoy at Tenth Aesthetic) debuted at the 2018 Droid and Blank Code Interface/Scene official Movement Festival event at The Works in Detroit; alongside Kr!z, DJ Hyperactive, Vril, Phase, Sophia Saze, and others. Less than a year into his new alias, he’s already had releases signed to Sleaze Records, BEK Audio, Impact Mechanics, TMM, SUB_tl, and Ascetic Ltd., with more on the way in 2019.

His productions have drawn critical acclaim from many notable artists; showing up in mixes and charts by Dave Clarke, Ben Sims, Cari Lekebusch, Norman Nodge, Richie Hawtin, Randomer, Joachim Spieth, Tommy Four Seven, Tadeo, Joton, Electric Indigo, David Meiser, Samuli Kemppi, Joel Mull, Arnaud Le Texier, Patrick Skoog, Abstract Division, and many others.

He has played in various cities across the US, most notably in Detroit for Interface/Scene at Movement Festival 2016, and 2018. His mixes have been featured on Tbilisi based Dark Underground, Sleaze podcast, Drone podcast, and Error Sessions. In early 2018 he launched 'Konstruct', a monthly Techno event at Underground SF in San Francisco with fellow artist, Rubidium, showcasing talent from across North America and beyond.

About Rubidium:

Rubidium is a DJ and producer, based in Oakland, California. Resident/promoter at the Konstruct monthly party in San Francisco.

Rubidium’s current take on techno is heavy and dense. Her sound can vary from driving to hypnotic, experimental to atmospheric, with an occasional dip into an ambient realm. She is fond of tension, creative sound design and exploring darker themes in her sets. Rubidium has opened for notable techno artists Cio D'Or, Black Asteroid and Tommy Four Seven. Her tracks can be found on the From 0-1, Webuildmachines, Subspec and Anode labels, with more on the way. Rubidium also serves as art director of From 0-1, pushing pixels and podcasts since the label began in 2008.

About Sone:

Sone is Seattle, Washington based DJ and producer Brian Sonnleitner. His first exploits into live music was being immersed in the underground punk scene in Wisconsin during the mid/late 90's. Fast forward to now, while keeping the same energy and ethos of his early experiences, Brian is a DJ of well over a decade with his sets trending towards the driving and tracky side of techno.

2008 brought Sone into the realm of production with his music exploring a heavier, stripped down sound. His original productions and remixes have received support from Ben Sims, Reggy van Oers, Joachim Spieth, Juho Kusti, TWR72, Soolee, and many others. His tracks appear on his home label, From 0-1, which he runs with long time friend JX-216 aka Milkplant; while surfacing on other labels such as Android Muziq, Webuildmachines, Rheostatus, and Darknet.

DNB Tuesdays proudly presents a special FREE from us to you event featuring:

.:Titan Records:.

A.M.C Titan Records CEO is without a single doubt the most impressing dj-talent to emerge from the UK in recent years.

He was discovered by the gang behind Drum&Bass Arena and was made resident of Drum&Bass Arena’s D&BTV when it first came about.

Subsequently in 2010 he won 'Best D&BTV Live Set' and repeated this a year later while also winning 'Best Newcomer Dj" in 2011.

Most recently he has won “Best Dj” at the Czech Republic Drum & Bass Awards 2015 beating the likes of Andy C, Friction, Marky and more.

A.M.C is the head honcho behind the drum and bass label imprint "Titan Records" which has immediately proved its self to be among the top drum and bass labels in the world.

Even though he is heavily into producing these days, the main focus is still on his dj sets: big combos, astonishing double and triple drops, speed mixing and combining classics and dubplates: he does it all.

With a very large and continually growing dj schedule A.M.C is definitely the name to watch for the future.

.:Ram Records // Eatbrain:.

Ironically, given the fact that they've got “Tactics” in their name, Mob Tactics came about quite by chance.

Mark was producing as The Funktion, and Luke, in his role as label manager for RUN DNB, liked what he heard and signed some of his tracks. It became apparent that Mark and Luke's taste in music was ridiculously similar and, over the course of a few weekends, they decided to get in each others studios and see what happened.

What happened was “Gunjack” & “Stick-up Kid”, two tunes which would go on to be supported by some of the biggest deejays in the business, and become the first Mob Tactics release. That was back in 2010 and, in the intervening years, these two have seemingly never let the momentum drop for a moment.

Early releases on Mob Tactics' own Tactical Recordings label, like “Kansas” and “Fugazi”, established their brand of drum & bass. Complex and technical, but with an irresistible edge of funk aimed straight at the dancefloor, no wonder they quickly caught the ear of the likes of Andy C, DJ Hype, Crissy Criss, and Chase & Status.

Seattle Trance Alliance Presents:

John Askew

VII/Assured Agency

John Askew is, without doubt, one of the hottest tech-trance producer/DJs in the world. Over the last two decades his energetic, high octane performances featuring his unique, trademark, razor-sharp sound have captivated fans and industry the world over.

From early days signed to Discover Records where John released initial hits “Vellum”, “The Door”, “New Dimension”, “Fade To Black”, “Vandalism” and “Chime”, John has gone on to deliver a catalogue of big singles and remixes for the coolest labels in the scene – including Duty Free Recordings, Vandit, Armada, Captivating Sounds, Perfecto Fluoro, Subculture, Monster Records, Euphonic, and Mental Asylum…..

Today John’s record label/brand VII is the hottest entity in trance. The label exclusively releases music from the seven artists signed to it (Astrix, Simon Patterson, John Askew, Sean Tyas, Freedom Fighters, Will Atkinson and Alex Di Stefano). John’s last two singles on VII – “Raven” and “Black Coffee” both hit number 1 on Beatport and marked a new era for the evolution of John’s sound - a sound that is widely recognized as the epitome of high-quality tech-trance.

2018 looks set to be John’s biggest year to date with a new album scheduled for April and global tours already locked in and confirmed right through till December.

As a member of both VII and Simon Patterson’s Open Up brand, John is a consistent team member of the two of the coolest label/brands in the scene.

John’s debut artist album “Lower the Tone” (released 2006) received critical acclaim and within 4 weeks of its release sold out – having to be repressed not once but three times. This was a testament to John’s die-hard fan base that relished the

diverse and meticulously compiled 3xCD box set format.

In 2008 John released his second artist album “Z List Uber Star” which was met with amazing reviews from the most respected dance music press (Mixmag, M8, DJ Mag, IDJ, Harder Faster, Trance.Nu....).

John has mixed six compilation albums – most recently “Resident” for Subculture and has released three live albums - recorded in London, Beirut, and Los Angeles.

In 2007 Pete Tong asked John to do an Essential Mix for BBC Radio One. A rare honor and one that confirmed John’s status as a member of the global DJing elite.

For two years (2009 / 2010) John hosted his own weekly show on legendary London FM station Kiss 100.

From exclusive residencies at 2 of the World’s most influential clubs (The Gallery, and Ministry of Sound in London) to a constant stream of high profile guest slots playing the coolest dancefloors and festivals around the world, John is now enjoying the fruits of over twenty years hard work.

John has performed at many of the world’s best festivals including EDC Las Vegas, Dreamstate So Cal, Luminosity, Creamfields, A State Of Trance, BAT Buenos Aires, Trance Energy, Subculture Melbourne, Nature One Festival…..

In recent years John has played on all the far corners of the globe including: North America, Canada, Australia, Russia, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Venezuela, Egypt, Germany, The Netherlands, Romania, Bulgaria, The Czech Republic, Slovakia, China, Poland, Sweden, Finland, Turkey, Cyprus, Malta, Italy, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Greece, Ukraine, Georgia, and of course all over the UK…..

After spending most of his teens playing guitar in a variety of local rock bands, John Askew’s musical alliance was suddenly disrupted when he attended a rave in Cornwall in 1993. He was transfixed by the immense power and emotional impact that electronic music seemed to possess. He rapidly swapped his beloved Les Paul for a pair of decks and so began his journey into DJing.

In 1994 John made his club debut at the notorious North London 80’s Acid House venue – Woody’s. A few months later he blagged himself a slot at a rave in Wiltshire which in turn led to a residency for the then infamous Wiltshire based sound system “Code Red”. This position gave John the opportunity to regularly play to thousands of underground revelers that would loyally make their way out into the countryside every weekend to party in the open air. His sound was influenced by a mixture of tough melodic German dance music that was fast putting Frankfurt (and DJs like Sven Vath and DJ Dag) on the map as the epicenter of the global trance scene. He also drew influences from the harder, more percussive sounds that artists like CJ Bolland, Westbam, and Jeff Mills were pioneering. In many interviews over the last two decades, John has quoted CJ Bolland’s groundbreaking album “The 4th Sign” as being his single biggest influence in determining/defining his sound.

At the end of 1995 overwhelming pressure from the police led the organizers of the Code Red parties to move their events from the fields into licensed clubs and venues. With this move, John started warming up for a host of top international techno names such as Billy Nasty, Dave Angel, and Dave Clarke. He quickly established a name for himself and was subsequently booked to play a number of other underground nights including Universe's legendary Final Frontier at Club UK where John rocked the decks alongside a plethora of big names including Paul Oakenfold, Carl Cox and John’s biggest DJ hero of the time DJ Dag.

The next 5 years brought John residencies and guest slots at some of the hottest club nights in the South of England, including the infamous UFO Club which hosted debauched parties for thousands of party people every weekend at the picturesque Longleat Country Estate.

In 1999 John teamed up with Bristol's most respected techno DJ, Simmer, to partner on the formation of Shimmy Recordings. Having this platform to start producing and releasing records gave John a presence beyond the local scene. He fast developed the nucleus for what would later grow into his trademark sound, combining melancholic melodies with hard punchy drums and aggressive percussion.

In 2000 John was asked to be the resident for Universe’s (of Tribal Gathering fame) “Sorted” tour. In one month John played 21 gigs across the country alongside many of the world’s finest DJs including Carl Cox, Orbital, Timo Maas, Danny Rampling, Danny Howells and Way Out West……

On NYE 2000 John rocked the main stage to 20.000 people at Ministry of Sounds’ infamous London Dome event. His technical wizardry on the decks in front of this massive crowd led Ministry to offer him a residency at their world famous club – Ministry of Sound – London – where John was resident for 2 years.

John’s end of the night 3-hour sets in Ministry’s “The Box” main room were legendary and often had those capacity crowds rocking long past their official 8am closing time. In 2001 John was signed to Discover Records where he also took on the role of head A&R – soon after signing young up and coming talent John O’Callaghan, Bryan Kearney, Sean Tyas and Greg Downey…..

In 2003 Danny Newman (owner of London’s coolest electronic music venue Turnmills) heard John play and immediately asked John to become an exclusive resident for The Gallery – the flagship night for Fridays at Turnmills. Accepting the offer did not require much persuasion.

Soon after John Began touring heavily, remixing regularly and releasing continuously – and thus the story properly began…

Smoke & Mirrors, Sasha Velour's first one-queen show, is an effortless blend of drag, visual art, and magic. Velour introduces audiences to a whole new side of her artistry, through 12 dazzling and genre-busting lip-synch performances, all directed and choreographed by the queen herself. You’ll be on the edge of your seat as she explodes into rose petals, vanishes in a poof of smoke, saws herself in half, conjures a rainstorm, even transforms into a tree in front of your eyes (to name just a few). But the real magic is the way that these illusions and deceptions serve to unmask deeper truths, sparking fresh analysis of gender, fame, family, and the importance of dreaming big and living life over-the-top.

Featuring the music of Annie Lennox, Whitney Houston, Shirley Bassey, Judy Garland, Celine Dion, Sia, Nina Simone, Le Tigre and more. Video created by Sasha Velour. Costumes designed by long-time collaborator Diego Montoya.

The show toured Australia and New Zealand with In The Dark Events in January 2019 to rave reviews. It debuted in the U.S. for the first time in March 2019 at New York Live Arts, played The Ace Theatre in downtown Los Angeles in May, and made its UK debut with two sold-out engagements at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London this August.
