HOW TO USE THE TRACKER

Hi! I wanted to use this first tab for a bit of an explanation of what this tracker is for and how I built it. I started with a base from The Hillbilly Oracle (see link --->) and used their Tarot Cheat Sheet and added to it. https://hillbillyoracle.tumblr.com/my-tarot-resources

How to use it:

All the action is happening on the next tab called the Daily Card Pulls Tab. This is where you will be entering your daily data!Behind The Scenes
7

Column A / Date: Enter the date of your card pullEven though most of what you do daily will take place on the Daily Card Pulls tab, there are a lot of tabs on here to consider. The third tab, Card Stats is a data fanatics dream. This is a quick way throughout the year to see how many of each card, suit, etc you've pulled for the year so far! This information is all being pulled TO the Card Stats tab from the Daily Card Pulls tab using COUNTIF formulas.

Card Meanings is the tab where the Key Point Meanings field on the Daily Card Pulls tab gets all of its information.

Card Number Assignments is one of those "where the magic happens" tabs. This is one of those means to an end tabs, there may be a more effective way to do this but if there is I haven't figured it out yet. In order for the tracker, as it is set up here, to work correctly this tab shouldn't be changed as it is part of what makes it work.

Card Meaning Data Validation is honestly a tab I use to make myself feel better and sort of check my work before I change things. When I want to adjust what will populate in the Key Point Meanings column on the Daily Card Pulls tab before adjusting in on the Card Meanings I do the work on the Card Meaning Data Validation tab and then copy/pste values into the Card Meanings tab for the formulaic data pull.

Data Validation is a tab that should not be altered in order to keep the tracker working as it does now. This tab is where the Card column on the Daily Card Pulls tab will pull its data from to ensure consistency in card naming conventions.

I intentionally did not hide the tabs for validation in an effort to allow those using the document to see the where and why to how it works rather than hiding them in an effort to protect the information from being changed. I'd rather a user understand that something exists and why it shouldn't be changed than keep it a secret from them from the start!

Column B / Card: The cells in this column are free cells in the sense that they will allow you to type anything in them without limitation however to have the tracker work properly you would want to utilize this limited list of options shown below. These items are pulled using Data Validation and a look up to the Data Validation tab. If you are not familiar with Excel I will advise this, if you delete or alter the information on the Data Validation tab it was alter or cause an error in the options available in Column B.

The SunOh friends, I love tarot and cherish the Rider-Waite tarot deck I've been using since the 90's. Its fun, incredibly diverse and interesting, and a wonderful tool for introspection and growth. Due to my day job being heaviliy data driven (and being a baseball fan) I've had the chance to really lean into the joy of statistics and data as an interesting aside to my hobbies.

Another fulfilling way to utilize this tracker is doing so along side a tarot journal to log what you felt and thought about the cards you pulled, whether that card was pulled as a daily card pull or a more elaborate or specific spread. The journal helps by providing you with a more elaborate log of what you've learned/felt about the card. In addition to expanding on the meanings in a more personal way, the journal connects you to the cards in your deck even more. Handling the cards every day and spending time getting to know them and how they work best for you adds depth to your practice and clarity to your card pulls.

This tracker would not exist without the work and effort from The Hillbilly Oracle or Labyrinthos. I, personally, am going through as I pull cards and adjusting the short meanings found on the Card Meanings tab to best align to my practices and I think you should too. While I don't have a specific format for the Tarot journaling to share with you at this time the internet (and the foundational resources I've listed here) has a lot of options when it comes to that area as well. I hope that you find this both useful and interesting. I hope that you find clarity and confidence in your tarot practice!

Column C / Suit: Just like Column B these cells will permit you to enter any word or number, however for the tracker to work the options which have been conditionally formatted to adjust to color correspondences are as follows:
50
51
Major Arcana
52
Cups
53
Wands
54
Swords
55
Pentacles
56
57
Column D / Orientation: This column is a true drop down and will only allow the use of “Upright” and “Reversed”
58
59
Column F / Card Name: Using a Concatenate formula this field auto populates with a general description of the card. Do not type in the cells within Column F as they are pre-loaded with a formula and typing there will disrupt that formula and cause the tracker to not work properly.
60
61
Column G / Data Validation (Copy/Value Paste Card Name): Now here is where we get a little fiddly with things, as the title mentions what you need to do here is copy the cell in Column D and then right click and choose Paste Values (small clipboard w/ 123 on it). This pastes the information as plain text and not the formula found in the Column D cells. You can also just type the description exactly as it appears in Column D and that will also work. It is important to have the description exactly as it appears in Column D as the next field of information relies upon it to allow the necessary formulas to work and pull the Card Meaning Data into the tracker with ease.
62
63
Column I / Key Point Meanings: This field should not be typed in if the tracker is to continue working as intended. This information will auto populate using a VLOOKUP formula which points us to the tab titled “Meanings.” The information listed here is a sort of place holder for you to adjust and change as you see fit. The items listed there have been pulled from the Labyrinthos website where they have a downloadable cheat sheet you can use. I tried to use listings that were short and concise. Just enough to point you in a direction. I will suggest, and this is based purely on over cautious preferences, that when you decide you would like to change some of the meanings to initially use the CARD MEANING DATA VALIDATION tab to enter your initial changes and then copying and once again using the Paste Values option mentioned above to enter the change in the Meanings tab once you’re sure you have things the way you’d like. Again not required for the document to work the way it is intended, but a helpful way to avoid over writing data you maybe didn’t intend to. https://labyrinthos.co/blogs/tarot-card-meanings-list

The Legend of the Hidden Columns!
66
67
If you’re unfamiliar with Excel you may not be aware of the purpose of hidden columns. On this tracker I have two. Column E “Card Stats Data” and Column H “Number.” I just want to advise that I am far from an expert in Excel and frankly I just know enough to get things done and not a lot more. That being said, I often do things the hard way because I don’t know a more efficient way to do it. These two hidden columns are used to make formulas between various cells and tabs work correctly. In other words, a means to an end. I wanted to make the directions as clear as possible for people who perhaps don’t use programs like Excel in their day to day life like I do for work. If the tracker stops working for you, I MAY be able to assist with getting it to but that is dependent on the issue. I built this in Excel but my partner opened it in Google Sheets and says it carries over ok. I know not everyone has Excel but Google Sheets is free to use!
