Alternative Certification Program: In SY23-24, 464 candidates enrolled in the alternative certification program​. The program specifically targets areas of critical need: Core Subjects EC–6, Bilingual EC–6, Special Education EC–12, Math 7–12, English Language Arts and Reading 7–12/ESL.

Implementation Fidelity
The Alternative Certification Program received three commendations from TEA in February of 2024​
HPC campuses are always provided first-priority to access candidates from this pipeline

AC interns’ responses about the program were positive. Most interns felt that they received feedback and support from the AC program about their classroom teaching in a timely manner, and that the AC program provided them face-to-face and ongoing support and specific strategies.

Student Performance
Of those who completed the Alternative Certification program in 2022-23, 98 percent (n=166) continued to teach in Dallas ISD during the 2023-24 school year. This is an increase over SY21-22 (69%), SY20-21 (88%), SY19-20 (81%) and SY18-199 (66%).
