Worker will drive 10-wheel, straight-frame potato field truck to/from specified destinations within area of intended employment; maneuver trucks into and out of loading and unloading positions. Destinations will included, but are not limited to, fields and plant facility. Operator will perform duties in both on-road (paved) and off-road conditions. Worker must possess the ability to successfully operate in rough and adverse off-road conditions and ability to drive truck underneath the harvester boom safely, as instructed by the harvester operator. Install/maintain irrigation systems and water lines. Move and install irrigation pipes and equipment. Dig and maintain ditches.

Apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other crop protectants. Apply fertilizers, plant growth chemicals, conditioners, and other plant related treatments at the correct times depending on plant type, growth, climate and crop conditions.

Workers must operate all equipment properly and in a manner that protects operator, others, the employer's products and property. Failure to comply with safety requirements and operating instructions may result in disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination.

Housing is a 400 sq ft brick, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment with a fully furnished kitchen. Housing is leased and operated by LaJoie Growers LLC.

Workers will perform general farm duties, such as manually plant, cultivate and harvest vegetables including; thinning and weeding plants using hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes and rakes. Workers will dig, cut, pick, bunch, clean and grade, and package crops by hand. Workers must take care to not scar or bruise vegetables during harvesting and/or packing process. Workers must be able to lift, load, and unload 50 pound crates/boxes of harvested vegetables. Workers may perform maintenance activities on buildings and equipment such as washing, painting, minor repairs or routine maintenance. Duties may include ground keeping around the farm such as landscaping, mowing, organizing, and participate in farm and field clean up. Workers will need to have a minimum 3 months prior experience with general farming and harvesting and/or packing vegetables.
The employer does in fact need (4) workers to perform the duties listed on the job application, and to further clarify, the duties performed in Feb and March, by all 4 workers, is the inspecting, grading, packaging, and packing of potatoes there were harvested in the late fall and stored in cold storage. The potatoes are in high demand and sold February through April and is the lifeblood of this farm. The workers also clean and maintain equipment and machinery utilized in this process as required for health and safety standard. Furthermore, during the months of February and March, the workers do perform ground prep with fertilizers and prep and cut potatoes for the spring seeding season.
