Note: some of the stuff in here I just replaced with parts I had on hand for the hell of it, such as ceramic caps, etc
5
There are some ceramic disk caps on some of the VCA boards I replaced with films, as well. I unfortunately didn't write the values down and they aren't on the 118 schematic, but I replaced them with C0G MLCC caps I had on hand
6
Another fun mod would be to remove the RCA I/O panel and replace it with 1/4" jacks, which will still be unbalanced but easier to interface with.
7
8
I ordered all of the parts below off mouser but they could be sourced elsewhere

C_ (see note)2u2/16v electro2u22UKW2A2R2MDDOne of the three VCA cards has two 2u2/16v radial electrolytics. I couldn't fit films in these places so I replaced with audio-grade electrolytics
16
C_ (see note)1u/50v electro1u/100v film4MMK15105J100B04L4BULK There are two 1u/50v axial electros with 15mm LS that I replaced with film across the two "260382" VCA cards
17
C_ (see note)1u/50v electro1u/50v film1B32529C0105J000this is on the aforementioned unmarked VCA card with the 2u2 radials. I was able to fit a 5mm lead-spacing film cap here

C16*
330n/100v polycarb
330n/100v polyprop.1MKP2F033301M00JA00the lead spacing on this might actually be 7.5mm but the specified 5mm part will work fine if you bend the legs

C1, C2470u / 25v2200u / 35v2EEU-FR1V222Bmain filter caps. note: these are axials in the PSU, I replaced them with higher quality radials - they fit fine, you just have to bend the leads a bit.
25
C5, C94u7 electro4u7/100v polyprop. film2ECW-FD2W475Jreplaced with big film caps that fit the lead spacing, a big upgrade over the non-polar electrolytic as these are the output coupling caps

Realistically you should also replace the opamps for more hifi, but I opted to leave mine stock to retain the "character" for now, plus I think the stock ones are probably behaving just fine.
29
You could replace the TL082 in OA3 with OPA1642 (with an SOIC8 to DIP8 adaptor), TLE2072, LME49720NA (you'd want to add a 100n C0G/NP0 MLCC to the supply rails for stability, though). This is probably the most important IC as it is in the signal chain
30
The 4558s could be replaced with OPA2134, OPA1612 (with an SOIC8 to DIP8 adaptor), LME49720NA, NE5532, etc. as well -- just be sure to add 100n C0G/NPO "bypass" caps on the power rails and see if there are any other specs on the datasheet to adhere to with your replacement IC
31
You could also optionally replace CR1 and CR2 (PSU DC rectifier diodes) with UF4007 if you're concerned about switching noise
