The invited speakers were Fuad Hamdan, a Palestinian activist from Munich, and Gady Gronich, the managing director of the European Rabbinical Conference in Munich. The reason given was social media posts by Hamdan where he compared Netanyahu to Hitler and Gaza to the Warsaw Ghetto and described the war in Gaza as a genocide. The cancellation stemmed from an email written by Volker Beck to the anti-Semitism commissioner of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD). The decision was criticized by all invited speaker as well as the academy director Barbara Hepp.
