12/17/2008 16:20:23Notre Dame High SchoolPeoira, IL17245 minutes 8 periods5We try to keep the assemblies we have at a minimum of one a semester for outside groups that present. We run a homeroom program opposite of lunch. So if Freshmen are at lunch sophomores are in homeroom. We can do some presentation in this 25 minute homeroom slot that narrows the time out of class. We have a daily Mass open to faculty and students everyday at 7:15AM. It is reasonably attended. We have an all school Mass once a month in the gymnasium. Every Wednesday during homeroom and school wide penance services during Advent and Lent. yesOur department meetings meet usually before school and after school. During professional development days large tracts of time are set apart for teachers to meet and work in groups on their various growth plans. Our students complete 100 hours of service to graduate. This is done during their time. Occasionally students "ambassadors" leave class to help with certain school functions: golf outing, 8th grade visit day etc. We do our senior retreat during the day at an off site location.... so yes they do miss a day's worth of classes.
