| Note that smudges are often tricky/impossible to spot if the background isn't plain. Also there are obviously a lot more than on this sheet so similar ones might exist. Always be careful with using these. No guarantees these are actually state specific. |
| |
| WA / NT / QLD from Nanutarra to Pentland |
| https://goo.gl/maps/aA9girEGRqwV7ruu6 |
| Multiple smudges at the front left, two of them especially notable. |
| Useful to recognize multiple very long roads. Starting from Nanutarra in northern WA, following the 1 all the way to Katherine in NT then moving south along the 1 and the A87 to the 66 and following it and going along the A2 and A6 in QLD to ~Pentland. |
| Infamous is the part between Pamayu and Mount Isa for the additional huge smudge (a bit smaller near Pamayu): |
| https://goo.gl/maps/8BctyZPc78xXzziUA |
| Also make sure to remember this smudge: |
| https://goo.gl/maps/H1HFRndPMrRPjQs7A |
| It's located at the front when looking at the street. |
| This one starts a few kilometres west of Kununurra near the WA/NT border and continues to Gregory in NT. This one can help for state streaking as it tells you you're around the border and you can simply scan that area. |
| |
| TASMANIA |
| It's located at the front right inside the halo not too close to the edge of it. |
| Very useful as this smudge is found in most of Tasmania's gen 2 (~80%) |
| |
| NEW SOUTH WALES |
| As a rule of thumb, NSW loves their gen 2 to be full of smudges. If you see like 5 smudges or more there's a good chance you're in NSW. |
| https://goo.gl/maps/9vNx5K24dJ8sokfq6 |
| https://goo.gl/maps/7zTjt3MZRK3WEMRe6 |
| https://goo.gl/maps/ynGij35693YmqSFz9 |
| The only other state where this seems somewhat common is Vic. |
| Pretty well known, cum cams like this are also a good clue for NSW: |
| https://goo.gl/maps/Q7YYJtWhZpoZPVVL8 |
| https://goo.gl/maps/mzsLvVqNwTQWmQAW6 |
| And here are some more noteworthy ones: |
| https://goo.gl/maps/GxUEzLDCdVBCZF3TA |
| This very unique double smudge at the back right inside the halo is mostly found in the area around Wagga Wagga. Unfortunately also seen once in Vic near the border. |
| https://goo.gl/maps/wpTpeizK3YqQiyM58 |
| https://goo.gl/maps/FjA2VJDL3B1BoZou6 |
| This one (often with lots of additional smudges) is recognizable through its 5 smudges at the front forming something like an M. |
| Commonly found in northern NSW (north of Newcastle, mostly even north of Port Macquarie) |
| https://goo.gl/maps/pNc97rjAJkVWNGgs5 |
| https://goo.gl/maps/C2stMeKdXuHsG8jk6 |
| This is recognizable through the twig on the right. Additionally it also has three notable smudges inside the halo (one at the edge in the back and two right next to each other more central). |
| Mainly found around Bathurst/Orange City and near Newcastle. |
| https://goo.gl/maps/4CNN2HpWszNJDMYr9 |
| https://goo.gl/maps/e9crWUQHk9bNKmXt7 |
| This smudge located at the front slightly to the left can be found all along the B79 in the far west. |
| https://goo.gl/maps/mA2ApUrRHDbxPQDj9 |
| https://goo.gl/maps/poCEPNEkJ4bgvs2t5 |
| Included this one as it is very similar/identical to the Tasmania one, so careful. |
| |
| VICTORIA |
| https://goo.gl/maps/QnFw7KaBTfnEsffWA |
| The most common smudge (~40% of Vic's gen 2) is directly at the front inside the halo. Most of the time it's accompanied by a small twig in the unblurred part at the front left. |
| Mainly seen in the area from around Ballarat to Horsham and nearby. Also been seen near the M31 more east though. |
| https://goo.gl/maps/gY4Pes9v1aGJ7LLHA |
| https://goo.gl/maps/U2ud9pYqagUvWkbt6 |
| Additionally you can sometimes get these thin lines. |
| Spotted around Ballarat/St Arnaud. |
| These two smudges are found in a lot of 2018 Victoria coverage. Here's a map of that coverage (doesn't mean all the coverage has the smudges though): |

| Gen 3 coverage with a blurred view to the front is especially common in the coastal parts south-east of Melbourne. |
| https://goo.gl/maps/AqRXKAQe5H7p6W7UA |
| This type of gen 2 with a lot of "stars" is quite common around Bendigo. |
| |
| SOUTH AUSTRALIA |
| This leaf is very famous but also super common (~50% of SA's gen 2). |
| Mostly found around Mount Gambier in the south but can also be found quite a bit more north. |
| https://goo.gl/maps/3t2MB8E2uBSy6fhB9 |
| This is the other leaf which can also be found in Victoria though. |
| It's especially common around Renmark. |
| https://goo.gl/maps/YqrZqdUSzodUET8d6 |
| Gen 2 with a lot of "stars" is also quite common just like in Vic. |
| |
| QUEENSLAND |
| Queensland doesn't have too much gen 2 but there are still 2 smudge metas that are quite important and will narrow down the region a lot. |
| https://goo.gl/maps/aQFSBLe8JjsRyXBC6 |
| This one might seem familiar and yes, it's actually the same as the most common Vic smudge. |
| Mainly found around Mackay and Rockhampton. The car somehow had to get there all the way from Victoria though so I wouldn't be surprised to see it in NSW as well (but I haven't so far). |
| https://goo.gl/maps/4XK7LMoGDyCaCdDP9 |
| https://goo.gl/maps/7ZXEwTyWxvfybafs5 |
| These three smudges are commonly found in the region between Brisbane and Toowoomba (around Plainland) |
| |
| WESTERN AUSTRALIA |
| https://goo.gl/maps/fSW8AinM1cVXvR6w5 |
| The most common gen 2 smudge is very close or even inside the edge of the halo at the front and slightly to the right. Often there are multiple other smudges as well. |
| Mostly found in the rather empty and flat part south-east of Perth, pretty big range though. |
| https://goo.gl/maps/rcEywJgxjnBuRZYS8 |
| https://goo.gl/maps/7miw5UHn3GEmdCEu6 |
| Hard to spot but very useful so I'll include it here. Found on the left back side and usually only visible on clear sky. |
| This one is found in late 2014 and early 2015 coverage. Here's a map with that coverage: |
| https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1037713686581755985/1052233310509727754/grafik.png |
| Most importantly this smudge helps you recognize the 95 which is a long road and also can easily be confused with the A87 north of Alice Springs in NT. Checking for this smudge can save you both in terms of state streaking and points. |
