Overview:
15
StrengthsNotes
16
First StepHis pop, timing, and quickness at 325lbs is freakish despite his lesser combine numbers.
17
Contact AngleHe maintains leverage well when rushing the passer, especially against taller offensive linemen. His balance and hand placement help him maintain contact angles that most players his size simply could not.
18
Quick HandsHis first pass rush move at the onset of the rep is generally quick and precise.
19
20
WeaknessesNotes
21
Tackling26.9% missed tackle rate in 2023.
22
AnchoringMust improve his anchor at 325lbs if he wants to see early down work as either a nose or 3-tech. Hr also must improve his balance.
23
Bull Rush Leg DriveWhen bull rushing, he often lacks the power needed to collapse the pocket despite his size. He then follows up his power move with a quick rip, push-pull, or other speed rush move. He must gain some functional strength if he wants to become an every down NFL defensive lineman.

GameTakeaways
27
Auburn (09/23/2023)Great angle and effort from nose. Very light on his feet for 325. Tries to make play instead of holding the point of attack. Quick and active arms. Appears to be a much better pass rusher than run defender. Can beat interior offensive linemen one on one with quickness on top of great strength and burst. Doubled on nearly every play. Can be late off the line at times, but not an every down concern. Needs to utilize length better from the outside. Needs work shedding blocks and filling gaps in interior run defense. Absolutely violent up the gut on passing downs. Looks as if he is pushing a sled with some of his angles. Could legitimately play 3-4 base end at 325lbs with his quickness and pass rush profile. Quick hands when crossing a guard from 3-tech are consistently highly effective. Plays primarily nose, but is considerably more effective from 3-tech. Often does not handle double teams well, particularly in the run game. Remarkably fast push-pull. Oddly good short area quickness. Upper body speed rush is top tier. Guys his size simply do not move like him.Impressive athlete who plays with high effort and consistently makes an impact in the passing game. Easily 2nd round tape.

Miami FL (09/09/2023)Elite first step. Good angle and leg drive. Good upper body quickness as well. Extension and angle was effective from the nose into double team. Favors penetration over holding the point of attack. Effective rip. Leg drive occasionally stops. Gets his shoulders rotated at the line in the run game. Drove through double team. Great contact angles. Often doubled. Sheds quickly on pass rush. Faster hands early in the rep than later. Rep is stopped once he is upright.Early-Mid Third.
29
Tennessee (10/14/2023)Quick hands. Explosive off the line. Highly explosive with quick closing burst for 325lbs. Difficulty getting off of blocks. Good leg drive. Excellent contact angle on bull rush. Anchoring rather well this game. Great first step to penetrate in outside zone blocks. More of a single gap shooter despite his size. Excellent spin move. High-end pass rush rep with excellent burst and hand usage. High effort open field player. Great rips for penetration. Very quick and active hands. Crazy steep contact angles on many pass rush reps. His ability to maintain balance through those angles at his weight is rare. Leg drive occasionally diminishes.Early Third grade.
30
LSU (11/25/2023)Slight delay off the line. Explosive with good contact angle, but did not drive forward. Active hands. Not using his momentum at his weight. Leg drive is failing. Extremely effective gap shooter when he elects to be violent. Balance is definitely a concern. Linear player. Power profile at 326lbs must improve. Leg drive stops into double-teams. Static hands and feet. Lacks violence with his upper body on many reps. Lacking power to drive back the center. Often oo upright.Mid 3rd

Final Scouting Report
33
McKinnley Jackson is a 325lbs explosive pass rusher with an arsenal of speed rush moves. His release and quick hands often give him the initial advantage on reps, allowing him to penetrate when gap shooting and rushing the passer. His contact angle is absurd with the ability to launch himself at a 45º angle and maintain balance, although his overall balance could still use some work. Jackson uses his quick hands, firm grip, and clean rips, chops, and push-pulls to get himself into the backfield regardless of the play type. The drawback to this is that he does not showcase many two-gapping reps in the run game. His run defense as a whole is rather poor. He gets pushed out of gaps too easily for a 325lbs man, and has a high percentage of missed tackles. As it stands, he is a rather linear player as a pass rusher and gap shooter who still has a ways to go regarding functional strength. His high-end reps as a pass rusher are still highly enticing, leaving him with a day two grade. If Jackson can round out his game with some practice in the right scheme, then he could become an every down impact defensive tackle.
