Rates lowered ✅
Fluoridation controversial topic -pros include healthier teeth for all. Cons-research highlights negative long term effects.
Cycle lanes are important but I would say they have a place but not a priority.
The evidence of climate change in 2023 floods showed the importance of having adequate infrastructure to cope with the climate effects.
The council removed Māori ward. If the issue is raised to reinstate Māori wards I would vote yes.

If my income does not keep pace with inflation it is unfair to expect me to pay a 5, 7 or 13 % increment in my rates. Climate change decisions must be made by the central government for all of New Zealand. Councils do not have the mandate to take climate action piecemeal.

Auckland CouncilJamesPembertonLocal Board Member (Auckland only)YesNoYesYesNoNoWe are not voting on this in our areaRe rates caps, rates are not decided by local boards. Due to the previous government we are now faced with the long term poor decisions like energy shortages, energy prices etc. Re Climate, Paris agreement needs to be scrapped and a balanced argument needs to be allowed. Rather than cancelling anyone that challenges the narrative.
Councils need to be constantly audited for efficiency with all expenditure, staffing levels, contractors etc to ensure value for money for ratepayers.

Auckland CouncilDavidRobbLocal Board Member (Auckland only)YesNoYesUnsureNoNoWe are not voting on this in our areaOn rates, my view is that they need to, and can, decline (e.g., through waste reduction, focusing on core services, selling some assets, and public-private partnerships), but that to cap rates would potentially hamstring councils in genuine need (e.g., responding to disasters), and increase financing costs (via lower credit ratings)

Auckland CouncilGreggWaldenLocal Board Member (Auckland only)YesYesNoYesNoNoWe are not voting on this in our areaSome existing infrastructure such as pools and leisure and libraries play an important role in our local communities. Libraries for some are the heart of the community and cover a huge demographic of people groups. Cycle ways are expensive and in congested areas are a hazard to motorists. The council and the community in partnership need to build resilience into their emergency plans if there is a disaster. Maori need a voice in local governance and I am pleased to represent my community.
65
Auckland CouncilDeonWallaceLocal Board Member (Auckland only)YesYesUnsureUnsureYesYesPrefer not to sayI think there should be a rethink of the way Local Election are done, as the current way marginalize's participation by ethnic communities. I believe that local govt should only be run by Independent candidates.
I am not against cycle ways, just that more money should be spent on the maintenance and building of wider footpath in the communities so that more people can get out and cycle.

I stand for AQUACULTURE in our estuaries, K-VALLEY Forest & Lake Park planting 1 million mature native trees, RANGIURU INLAND PORT Log Transfer Station Road to Rail for 1000 trucks off the road, SMART AUTOMATED Port of Tauranga. Vote Mark Wassung. I don't support the selldown of the Quayside Port shares. I don't support Amalgamation of Councils. I have signed the Ratepayers Protection Pledge to keep rates down and aligned with inflation. I stand for Planning for future Infrastructure, innovation, stages and funding aligned with these for a Multimodal Transport Network for Tauranga with other modes than just diesel buses, like smaller EV shuttles, passenger trains and ferries. I stand for peninsula protection from erosion and aquaculture.

Carterton District CouncilRachelRoundCouncillorPrefer not to sayPrefer not to sayNoYesNoYesRemoveShould Council prioritise maintaining existing infrastructure over new large-scale projects? Prioritise spending on essential services—not commercial enterprises that extract profits from local ratepayers.
 Ensuring projects are viability-tested and community-focused.
 Building resilient infrastructure that stands the test of time.
Do you believe rates need to be capped? I believe rate increases should not exceed inflation rates annually.

This would ensure success in starting the scheme, and avoiding interference from Central government, especially if our council is amalgamated out of existence. Such a structure would insure that CHB interests while financing the schemes do not lose control to constituents down river of another Council.
