Global duration rule

A work permit cannot be issued beyond the expiry date of the passport. Health insurance must cover the full intended stay; otherwise, the permit may be issued only until the insurance expiry date. An officer will not normally extend an IEC permit later merely because the participant purchased shorter insurance coverage.
