JonathanChandlerdjchandler@embarqmail.com1087 Bellevue RdHalifaxVA24558AnyRiding a bicycle in the city and sounding roads is very hazardous due to the vehicle drivers not watching out for the bike riders. Hopefully this sign will serve as a reminder that every lane is a bike lane.Three people riding bicycles alone a mountain road. ChristinaLoFaroclofaro1@gmail.com22 Gilmer AveRoanokeVA24016anyEveryone seems to be on phones these daysI have sketched tons of ideas so I have a few concepts and ill create the final using procreate and photoshop and illustrator. I had a yetti on rollerskates saying slow your roll Roanoke but i saw the message was focused driving safe arriving so i wanted a dog a yetti and a squirl or bird on a motorcycle driving just as a cute image each animal represents the diversity. The sketch is rough . I also have a car with a deer driving very focused with a yetti and a fox…. so may ideas i wanted to upload all so you can choose the one you like most but there is no way to do that https://drive.google.com/file/d/10jCnV7pUXcCs6UO2S_xXv-i03kI45Tqr/view?usp=sharinghttps://drive.google.com/file/d/1UJ1EBC6n1CYA_CGyoc7aZ7Lp3HAO-qeF/view?usp=sharinghttps://drive.google.com/file/d/1d0O5BZ8uF2DhVHovnYHDPh6XEVM_YxQt/view?usp=sharing

RobynMitchellrobyn@lovelightdesign.com4803 Autumn Ln NWRoanokeVirginia24017NWI grew up around two busy intersections in NW Roanoke— Melrose and Forest Park, and 10th Street and Orange Ave. In growing up in these neighborhoods, I regularly had to cross busy intersections as a latchkey kid on my walks to school or just to go to the playground or park. While these regular crossings were without major incident, I can see how safety is a major concern and factor for consideration when we have to keep in mind all of our community members, young and old—the fabric of our community, who are traveling through their day to day lives. My artwork, “Keeping the Fabric of Our Community Safe,” is a mixed media piece that combines digital collage and fabric textures. I used layered imagery and symbolic elements like quilts, to represent traffic safety, unity, and care within the community. The process involved digitally blending visuals to tell a story of resilience and collective safety.https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tyNbr6BNVYdqRUmjvXN3xCKHbQ8iHXmh/view?usp=sharing

MeishaRobinsonrobinson.meisha@yahoo.com2851 Greggin DriveRoanokeVirginia24012anyI have come across a few drivers here in Roanoke that tend to show signs of distraction on the road. I believe through this traffic safety campaign more awareness with be spread, and people will learn to drive safer.I wanted to depict a scene of a mother returning to her son after a shopping trip. I achieved this through making three connected sequential drawings, focusing on color and expression to emphasize a feeling of peace and happiness as a result of safe driving.https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pQpWv-JfIiZBwZFyfU02Pv2aRzU6CUAA/view?usp=sharing

I live on a busy street in South Roanoke where speeding and distracted driving seems to be an issue. A child was hit and killed in our neighborhood last year, which was absolutely devastating and an important reminder to slow down and focus on the road. I also walk in our neighborhood almost every day so I recognize the importance of traffic and pedestrian safety. This digital illustration was inspired by my regular drive along Williamson Road and is shown from the perspective of a driver. It depicts a view I often see when heading home or into downtown Roanoke, where three of the city’s recognizable landmarks are ahead. This is a busy stretch of road where it is imperative that drivers stay focused. I created this piece using Adobe Fresco and an Apple Pencil on my iPad, and incorporated hand-drawn lettering for the “Focused Driving, Safe Arriving” message. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QKSrPialgf3wvaDq89UwSEIws9Mf_yRr/view?usp=sharing

CA91706anyNo experience as proposals have not been approved.I have been exhibited in different venues with a work that’s titled: Transparencies in Time: Cuahpohualli embedded in ethnopoetic language poetry:. I seek to expand this work into a comprehensive exhibit in a gallery and/or installation in 3D public art sculptures (i.e., three simultaneous monumental works that expand into multiple levels of perception and/or dimensions). . In this the sculptures came from dreams, it’s a refraction of our ancestors so you see a mirror in yourself, as naturally the visual art is transparent as its in films and sealed in acrylic/plexiglass to give it a holographic effect. Here concept is transfered into vinyl wraps.https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JMUa-OdV-tt6neryj6-3rucOb4yqd7Uh/view?usp=sharing

VA24175NWMy recent experience was with a mobility scooter driver who didn’t pay attention to the traffic while entering the crosswalk. Thank goodness I was staying focused and recognized his intentions which allowed me to stop just in time.My contribution to the art contest is an oil painting showing an older gentleman on a mobility scooter, crossing the road on a crosswalk. A car is waiting for the scooter driver until he safely crosses the road. Both drivers ( in the car and on the mobility scooter) need to drive focused. Their greet each other. This is a work in progress since I still am refining the details.https://drive.google.com/file/d/11KGeFayGR-XOge9kvY_UQ3jl8_Hvoqhu/view?usp=sharing

AugustaWillsroanokewills@gmail.com2229 Jefferson St SWRoanokeVA24014anyI like to ride my bike and some streets definitely feel safer than others. I would meet my friends and walk or ride to more places if the streets were less busy with cars.I imagined the stoplight being large in the foreground, where you could see some activities in the circles of the stoplight, with red (using phone when driving), yellow (watching carefully at crosswalks) and green categories of activities. I also thought the chickens crossing the road would bring a sense of humor to the topic. I would be fine with another artist doing a more professional version of my idea- I'm a rising 10th grader at PHHS and would not call myself a very experienced artist! Thank you!https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IkEzIOE7eVYLFUtKs5Y3DjlIegX-11sl/view?usp=sharing

It shows the beautiful blue ridge mountains in the distance. In front of the mountains is Roanokes beauty and peaceful and diverse community. There is a long road with connecting sidewalks and crosswalks. We see a man crossing the street in a suit, who will be holding a bouquet of flowers. We can also see a young pregnant woman pushing a stroller, seemingly walking to the park.Around the sidewalks and in between are flowers. There are also two other Roanoke goers who are enjoying their day with activities.Ignore the horrible pet drawing, that will be fixed. I can definitely spend more time on it here soon/if I’m accepted. The art will have plenty of color and way more detail. I just had to kind of rough it out to try something new and get it done in time! My apologies for just seeing the post yesterday evening.
They may seem silly to look at since it’s all on paper and unfinished, but my brain definitely sees what needs to happen!
