Traditional instruction with preparation for Blended LearningLimit density of people in school facilities to no more than 50% maximum occupancy
6
**Enhanced health protocols - including temperature checks and symptom screenings; added sanitation measures

Schools will operate on A-Week and B-Week scheduling. Grades 6-10 will be in clusters (using transportation zoning); juniors and seniors will do all assignments/activities remotely and will not be in the buildings. Elementary schools, including Pre-K, will split classrooms into cohorts so that one half of a grade attenda on A-Week, and works on assigments at home on B-Week, and vice versa.

FACILITIESNC DHHS Requirements for all plans - Cleaning and Disinfecting - Need proper schedules on paper?? (Maintenance/Custodians) NCDHHS Requirement:
● Teach and reinforce handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and/or the safe use of hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol by staff and older children.
● Allow time between classroom activities for proper cleaning and disinfection of high-touch surfaces Limit sharing of personal items and supplies in the classroom such as writing utensils.
● Keep students' personal items separate and in individually labeled cubbies, containers, or lockers.
● Limit use of classroom material to small groups and disinfect between uses or provide adequate supplies to assign for individual student use.

NCDHHS Recommendations:
● Arrange seating/desks to allow for physical distancing. NCDHHS recommends at least 6 feet apart when feasible.
● Assign seating to help track virus spread if a student/staff tests positive for COVID-19.
● Turn desks to face the same direction (rather than facing each other), or have students sit on only one side of tables, spaced apart.
● ***Install physical barriers, such as sneeze guards and partitions, particularly in areas where it is difficult for individuals to remain at least six feet apart (i.e., reception desks). (Desk shields will also be ordered.)
● Provide physical guides, such as tape on floors or sidewalks and signs on walls, to ensure that staff and children remain at least 6 feet apart in lines and at other times (i.e., guides for creating “one way routes” in hallways).

INSTRUCTIONSurvey families to identify and determine the number of families NOT planning for their child to participate in person instruction. (UNDERWAY NOW)
23
In-Person instruction for all; with ability to move into a more stringent plan, should the need arise (i.e., Plan B or Plan C). Remote instruction will be available for parents who choose NOT to send their child(ren) back to school; also in the event of another closure/shutdown, and/or in the event a student becomes ill.Blended Learning; with a combination of in-person and remote learning, made available on a week-to-week basis (A Week - B Week). Example: One week is in person; the following week is remote learning; instruction would alternate by week. Split all students into two cohorts which alternate participation in face to face learning and remote instruction a week at a time--all this in keeping buildings at 50% occupancy at all times.
Determine number of additional teachers needed to staff K-12 schools and identify how these teachers would be acquired.
Determine if any building or furniture modifications will need to be made to accommodate 50% capacity of students/staff in buildings.

*Special consideration for Bertie High School, which provides tables rather than separate desks for students.
Provide training to all teachers on enhancements to remote learning to improve the educational experience for students.
All remote learning - all of the time.

TRANPORTATIONSurvey parents to project transportation needs - Underway!
· Develop plans/routes/seating charts for each bus

Limit transportation flexibility at the school level (e.g., students will only be assigned to one bus for both the morning and afternoon).

***If a child is a car rider in the morning but needs to ride the bus in the afternoon, a place must be reserved for that child in the morning as well, so as to ensure that he/she will be accommodated that afternoon.
Drivers transporting meals will adhere to NC DHHS Requirements, and meal delivery will look like that which occurred from March to June.
34
Encourage carpooling when possible, in back to school information/communication.

Review and revise each school’s traffic patterns for arrival and dismissal to accommodate increased traffic.Identify drivers, attendants, and substitute drivers who are considered high risk for severe illness and develop a plan to address reasonable requests for alternate work assignments.

Identify staff that can be deployed to drive buses in the event of a large number of unavailable drivers.

**Local recommendation: If you hold a CDL, you may be called upon to drive a school bus.

Provide training on new practices and policies related to health, safety, and leave for all drivers and all substitute bus drivers. ***Need ATTESTATION PLAN

Screening at Bus Stops: Parents should complete and submit an attestation for every two weeks** for their child to ride the school bus. All persons entering a school facility will be screened further, daily, (i.e., temperature check and questionnaire) regardles of the attestation to ride public school transportation. Forms should be collected by bus drivers and given to school social workers for school records.SPECIFICS: No more than one passenger per school bus seat (considerations for family members to share one seat). No more than 2 passengers in a contracted vehicle. In order to exercise the above revisions as of June 23, face coverings WOULD be REQUIRED for all students and staff.
