| 1. School Pride-School pride is about ownership. It is about belonging to something and feeling good about it. We demonstrate pride by taking care of our things and the people around us. We have a positive spirit about the well being of our school, family, and friends.
| 2. Personal Responsibility-Personal responsibility is when we agree to follow expectations and do what we are supposed to do. An example of personal responsibility would be following rules. Why do we need to follow the rules? Why do we have rules? What happens when we don't follow the rules?
| 3. Motivation-Motivation is the reason or desire we have for doing something. Our motivation usually depends on how we feel. How do you feel? If you cannot recognize and name your feelings, how can you become motivated?
| 4. Good Sportsmanship-Good sportsmanship generally happens in sports and on the field of play. It can slo happen in the classroom or on the playground. It means that we treat one another with respect and exhibit appropriate behavior. One sign of respect is listening when someone is talking. Listening is more than just hearing with your ears. We will learn how to be good listeners when we are in school.
| 5. Relationships-We need to build good relationships at school so we will be comfortable there. How do we build a good relationship? How do we meet people? What do we need to do to keep good relationships?
| 6. Community-Having a sense of community is also about belonging. Once we have created strong bonds with people at school, we have created a safe place to be ourselves and to learn. We can take pride in knowing that we are a big part of the school community and we are learning, growing, and making a difference.

| 1. Responsibility-students demonstrate the trait of responsibility by taking ownership of their lives and acknowledging their power to choose what they think, (including their attitudes and mindsets), say and do, and their accountability for the consequences of their choices
| 2. Recognize Emotions-Helping kids understand feelings involves recognizing their own feelings and others’, getting along with others, problem solving, and setting and achieving goals. Children learn how to do this by watching and talking with their parents, teachers, and other adults in their lives. It is very important to clearly show and tell students what we want to see.
| 3. Boundaries-Teaching kids about boundaries is crucial for their overall well-being, safety, and success in various aspects of life. It empowers them to establish healthy relationships, communicate effectively, and navigate the complex social world with confidence and respect for themselves and others.
| 4. Social Cues-Social cues are the ways in which we communicate without using words. These cues involve aspects such as facial expressions, how we move our bodies, tone of voice, our physical proximity to others, and any other way we express ourselves outside of verbal communication. While social cues tend to be similar among most people, they can be affected by many things, including a person's personality, culture, and comfort levels. Responsible communication includes checking for social cues.
| 5. Conflict Resolution-Part of conflict resolution involves exercising empathy. Empathy is the ability to put yourself in the shoes of someone else and understand what they are feeling or experiencing. Building an understanding of what others are feeling, how their own actions can impact others, and why someone might be experiencing feelings at a particular time, is a valuable life skill for children. It allows you to really hear the other person’s perspective and feelings so that you can understand where they're coming from. This gives the conflict a chance to calm down rather than escalate.
| 6. Choices-Learning decision making skills to make their own choices helps children be more independent, responsible, and confident. It gives them a sense of control over their lives, reducing anxiety and promoting resilience. Furthermore, it encourages self-exploration and helps them to solidify their values.

| 1. Respect-Respect is treating someone the way they want to be treated, in a way that makes them feel cared for and important. When discussing respect, it is important to emphasize different types of respect. There is respect for self, respect for others, and respect for property. The first step is getting students to think about their own beliefs and ideas about respect. It may look, sound, and feel different for everyone. But one thing that we do know is that respect should mirror kindness, being considerate, and having a positive growth mindset.
| 2. Goal Setting-Goal setting encourages a growth mindset. When we set a goal for ourselves we demonstrate self-respect. We are asking ourselves what we can accomplish and what is our plan. Creating a specific direction provides us with self-confidence and clears the path to success. By setting a plan in motion we can also learn to deal with obstacles and prepare ourselves for adjustment and change without having to feel overwhelmed and anxious.
| 3. Managing Stress-Stress is how our bodies react to certain things. It energizes and prepares for challenges. Stress can be helpful or harmful. It only becomes unhealthy when we hold on to stress for too long and our body becomes overwhelmed. Once we can recognize the triggers that create stress, we can learn how to cope and manage it.
| 4. Perspective-Perspective refers to a person’s ability to consider a situation from a different point of view. It can sometimes require you to put yourself in the other person’s position and imagine what you would feel, think, or do if you were in that situation. When you are able to imagine a situation from another perspective, you can exercise a growth mindset, gain a better understanding of yourself, or even sometimes choose to change your own behavior.
| 5. Communication-Communication is about sending and receiving messages. We can communicate through our words, through actions, through our writing, and through our expression in art and music. Respectful communication requires us to treat people, places, things, and ourselves with kindness.
| 6. Self-Respect-It’s important to feel good about yourself. When students feel good about themselves they have the confidence to try to new things. A sense of positive self-esteem helps children to cope with their mistakes. It helps kids know it's acceptable to make mistakes and to try again. This is the process of learning and growing.
