REGIONGUESSING META LIBRARY

Regionguessing is an important part of Geoguessr on an intermediate and advanced level. If you are just starting out
or are still very much struggling to consistently recognize countries, this library is not for you (unless you just want to learn
a specific country for fun). As a beginner make sure to check out Plonk It instead.

Learning to regionguess a country - where to start?
5
In the past few years the GeoGuessr community really has moved past the point where simply recognizing a country would
be enough
to compete on a decently high level. The aspect of also getting accurate guesses within the country nowadays
has an incredibly high value. As a result players have put in more and more time studying certain countries, researching
clues and luckily also sharing their new knowledge.
It is hard to believe but in a relatively short time several hundred
resources
about this topic have been published and most countries have at least a few of them to help players step up their
regionguessing skills. Due to this large amount it is quite common that you remember seeing a resource somewhere but then
struggle to find it again.
Also, it is actually difficult to decide where to start being confronted with sometimes dozens of documents, infographics,
video guides and more when you want to dive into a new country. The amount of knowledge can be overwhelming and
often multiple resources explain the same things so you can easily end up spending way more time studying a country
than necessary by reading the same tips over and over again.
6
This library is an attempt to solve these issues by currently storing about 900 resources of all sorts in one place and
additionally giving a bunch of information about each one:
- author (with their Discord tag if known)
- type of resource
- time it takes to study it (estimated, this does not include time to memorize everything)
- description what it is about
- markings to tell you who the resource is for and how useful it is (for an explanation check the FAQ page)
7
Make sure you are in the Plonk It Discord server as a lot of links will link to posts in that server. There are no links to posts from
any other servers though.

This spreadsheet only contains country specific resources. They are sorted by continent through the different subsheets
and then alphabetically by country. Of course this is a subjective opinion but whatever I find the most useful about a country
will then be listed on top. However, area codes will always be the last link for a country no matter how important they are
to learn.
10
Since I can't study every resource in depth, I also rely on your help with this. Please let me know
- if you know of resources that are currently missing and should be added
- if you find any mistakes (wrong links, authors, inaccurate descriptions)
- if a resource is heavily outdated, inaccurate or got deleted
11
Have fun discovering, I'm sure you will find a bunch of stuff here that you haven't seen before.

Here are a couple of good links that can be helpful for most countries.

15
The Plonk It team consists of some very experienced players. They have put in a ton of time to create guides for
every single country.
For each there are many tips to identify it and regionguess within it. The information is always
easy to follow, there are good explanations, many examples and overall just a very professional layout. The Plonk It Guide
usually focuses on the most high yield metas. So while it often isn't the most detailed resource, you will always find the
fundamentals in it.

This website by @.flamby. has a similar approach like this library. It also links to documents but most importantly it's a great
addition
as it has links to country specific maps, quizzes of all sorts and challenges which I decided not to include here.

These two websites by emily are another incredible resource no matter which country you would like to study. Here you can
find map quizzes for most countries which are great for learning subdivisions, area codes and more. Additionally you can
practice new language scripts and there are coverage maps for all countries. Using these you can filter coverage by year
and month to figure out some useful patterns in camera generations, seasons and more.

Especially for Moving games it can be quite helpful to understand how the road numbering system works. This website gives
detailed explanations about this topic and can be worth a look.
