Sample Student10/15/2021Mr. LourosI plan to research bats and their use of echolocation.I will create a website that includes voice-over and videos. The beginning of my presentation will include general background facts about bats and will introduce the sensory adaptation of echolocation, which allows bats to navigate in total darkness. This will be done with images of bats and voice-overs. I will create a video with puppets and will be about echolocation and how bats are capable of this behavior. I plan to show a figure of the bat’s ear muscles so my audience can better understand how the auditory system is involved in echolocation. This part of the presentation will also show a short video of a bat using echolocation using a gameshow format. The end of my presentation will include how scientists gather information about bat echolocation and what studies have been done to learn about this phenomenon in bats. In this video I will present a slideshow using screencastify. I plan to include research about the first discovery of bat echolocation and will end the presentation by sharing modern studies on bats.

1Bali10/4/2024Mr. SarmientoI want to make a website about Beluga whales and how they use echolocationMy plan is to make a website about beluga whales and how their melon body part helps their echolocation. This would show how the melon works, what it is, and why the echolocation is important for the beluga whale's saftey. Since the melon helps make the sound that the beluga whal uses for echolocation focus, I might add to the page a the sound of a beluga whale. The pages would include the melon, echolocation, and other facts. For my video presentation I plan to make a video that asked questions to the viewer and to pull facts from the website.Approved 10/8

Delilah10/4/24Mr. SarmientoI plan to research king snakes and how they are immune to venom.I want to make a website that explains how king snakes are immune to venom and for the fact that they can eat other venomous snakes. It would give other background information and make it so that the website is very informational. A part on the website explaining how they kill other snakes, and what makes the kingsnake immune to venom. My video presentation is going to be a movie/move trailer idea. It is like a documentary and I will just blurt out facts acting like I'm a scientist or an explorer who works in forests and deserts. All the information in the video will ONLY be coming out of my website. No extra (unincluded) facts.Approved 10/9

10Zurie10-11-2024Mr. Sarmiento I plan to reshearch the abillitiy of lynx on how their eyes and ears makes them keen hunters. My website will be mostly about the keen senses of the lynx eyes and ears and how it makes them such great hunters in the wild. At the home page in the middle there is going to be a slideshow where there is a lynx and if you press on either their eyes or ears it will show some brief information that is like facts. Some of them might be like how the lynx eyes can decect a mouse that is as far away as 250ft away or how their tufts on their ears is the thing that actually makes them hear everything more clearly than without them. As the home page will have some facts or little information on what I will be talking about at the bottom it will show all of the videos that I have used including that sources in case the person reading is getting more interested in lynx and wants to read more information on what I have talked about. Then there is going to be two more pages which is one for the eyes and one for the ears. Each of these pages are going to have videos that mostly talks about the topic that the page is about and diagrams showing how the ears or the eyes look like. There are going to be many more information than I had showed in the slideshow at the home page. There is also going to be many diagrams and at the end there is going to be a little quiz based on the topic that is on the page showing if the viewer does understand about how their eyes and ears make them be able to make them hunt even better than they have even without it. For my presentation I plan to do an animation where the narrator (me) and a lynx (also me) are talking about how it makes them such great videos. At the beginning of my presentation is going to be no dialouge at first and showing the lynx hunting for a mouse when the narrator suddenly jumps in makeing the lynx lose it's prey. This is when the lynx will soon talk of course mad that they lost their food and me and the lynx will be talking about what makes them such great hunters from using their eyes and ears. At the end it is going to be a quick summary on what I have been talking about when at the end the lynx finally gets their food and cheers, that's when the presentation ends.Approved 10/11

12Kilmar10/7/2024Mr.SarmientoI plan to research the Mediterranean House Geckos's ability to escape predators using its ability to remove its tail. I plan to create a website about the Mediterranean House Geckos ability to lose its tail. At the beginning of my presentation I will recapitulate the information of what I am going to try to inform the reader about key factors of the Mediterranean House Gecko's ability to lose its tail. Next I will do sections about this ability such as the body system that helps explain how the gecko is able to do this, presenting using diagrams and a video that includes a presentation skit. Next I will give information on how the Mediterranean House Geckos first adapted to do this and their ancestors to possibly find how they got this adaptation using diagrams and a video that would be about a evil scientist who traps a person in the garage and until the guy can say the information in the text (as if he already knew) and the scientist is eventually lets the guy out. And at the end I will add the reference to all the sites I got it from.Approved 10/8

13Rayan10/21/2024Mr.SarmientoI plan to research how dragonflies adapted to use their unique compound eyes to see things in almost 360 degrees and multicolor!I plan to make a website about dragonflies and their unique ability to see with their compound eyes. I will make a video that will (maybe) be screen-recorded in Roblox as the background. It will include details about the dragonflies' ability to see in a 360 view and multicolor. If that doesn't work, I will make a regular video that is hopefully entertaining. The video will include some random stock images of people. These people will interview a dragonfly asking questions like: "what is it like living while having those eyes?" "What are their benefits?" "How is it being goofy?" Later, the dragonfly becomes angry and buzzes loudly into the "mic." I will make sub-sections that include the structure of the eyes, how it is a great adaptation for them and what their sight looks like. I will also probably add a special section that is just for fun. This section will include jokes and questions. I will also include credits for every site that I'll use for the website in a different page.Approved 10/11

14Vincent10/16/2024Mr. SarmientoI plan to research about the camel, which is a desert adapted animal that has different modified body parts, such as the structure of their paw, and the long eyelashes and thin, slit nostrils. I will first have an introduction, on a related fact about how the camel is quite cool, then there will be a page dedicated on the adaptations, with a presentation on the fact that they cannot drink water for up to 15 days. Then, I will have a skit or a puppet show about how the camel lives throughout the desert. The whole entire body of the camel has specific or modified body parts for a purpose, like the camel's hooves on the paw of the camel that is used to walk are very wide, so the camel cannot sink in sand, and thin, slit nostrils, as well a long eyelashes to protect them from sand that can get into their nose and eyes. I will also have a small little minigame, which is if you find all of the camels hidden around the website, then you will be congratulated. When you find a camel, it will state a fun fact about the camel. This is to help the viewer have fun while also learning about the camel.Approved 10/16

15Irene 10/7/2024Mr. SarmientoI am planning to reasearch on how sharks use electroreception, and how important it is for sharks. This includes how sharks use it and how it helps them out.I plan to create a website about the elecctreoreception of sharks. This website will include how electroreception makes sharks such a powerful predator, how it is used, and will have visual examples showing electroreception. This will also include how scientist found out about electroreception, and what electroception is. In this website will be a video of a short skit which demonstrates how electroreception helps sharks hunt for food. This website will be engaging and will inform you about everything you have to know about electroception in sharks. In the home page will have buttons to different parts of my website. For example, there will be a button and if you click it, it will bring you to a page about what electroreception is. This website isn't going to be boring, and will have some humor in it. 16Norah10/11/24Mr.SarmientoI am planning to reasearch the Virginia Possum, a misunderstood animal with a adaptation that lets them play dead to ward off predeators from attacking or eating them, this ability is called thanatosis which is a instinctive behavior adaptation.I plan to make a website on the Virginia Possum, a misunderstood animal with a reputation for being a filthy animal that digs through trash, that is actually one of the cleanest animals in the world. I will write a section on the website on their ability to play dead, but also make other sections on fun facts like how their blood makes them almost immune to rabies and lyme disease. I will also make a section on their opposable thumbs that help them climb trees and carry things. Finally I will make a presentation using puppets because I cant use a real possum obviously, to demonstrate some of their adaptations using the puppet, and how their body plays a part in it. I will also make another presentation using diagrams and pictures to explain some other adaptations and how they work. I will include some minor backround facts as well in my presintation but not too much.approved 10/11

18Shyloh and Angelee10/7/24Mr.SarmientoI plan to research about the leafy seadragon, and how their ability to change the color of their body and leaf to match and camouflage in their seagrass habititat.I will generate a website that includes sections or segments full of facts and information of the leafy sea dragons habitat and their plan of survival. My video presentation will first start off with me and my partner, Angelee, introducing what the leafy seadragon is and a brief explanation of their adaptation. We will present diagrams, examples, and videos about how they survive from predators. The videos or examples will mostly be about how they change color and how their leaves on their body help them camouflage with the environment around them. In the middle of the presentation, me and Angelee will show how they change color and flow in the sea current to look exactly like seagrass or seawed, which play a key role in survival. At the end of the presentation we will include a summary about the adaptation of the leafy seadragon, (this is the information). Angelee and I will do two separate videos, one video will be Angelee presenting a music video about how they change color and camouflage in their environment. The second video will be Shyloh presenting an interview using puppets. Shyloh will be the one interviewing the puppets about what they learned about teh Leafy Seadragon. Approved 10/8

19Aya10/8/24Mr. SarmientoI was going to research about how spotted salamander can amputate when in danger and can also regrow these limbs. My website will include different sections explaining how exactly the spotted salamander can self-amputate their limbs on command whenever they are in danger. We will show diagrams on how the limbs can fall off without damaging the animal, short videos showing the process of the tail growing and falling, and how the things the salamander does affect them. It will include things like how they can regenerate bones and muscles, something many animals cannot do. Facts on when this salamander needs to use their ability, how long it takes to regenerate other body parts, and other facts would be included. My presentation video will be presented as an animated video. I would have an animation of a salamander explaining its adaptations and describing "how it feels" in a first person way. The presentation will mostly talk about the process of amputating, while the actual website would focus more on how the tail can grow. The salamander would have a one-on-one conversation with the viewer with images showing a visual on what it is talking about. The slamander would have a moving mouth and I would be the voiceover of it.Approved 10/11

27Francis Tanaka (Hiro)10/8/2024Mr. SarmientoI'm curious to dive deeper into how the poison dart frog's adaptation really works. I plan on doing careful research about the adaptation where the poison dark frog uses the toxins in its skins to paralyze, or even kill other predators.I plan on constructing a website introduces one of the main adaptations of a poison dark frog, that adaptation would be about its ability to use the toxins in its skin to paralyze, and sometimes even kill predators. My website is going to mainly focus on this adaptation. I will explain how it is helpful in certain situations. I will explain the reactions and outcomes of what would happen when you get attacked by a poison dart frog. I also plan on giving information about what would happen when a predator consumes a poison dart frog. I will also, most importantly, give information and examples of the body system of this animal. Since I had inadequately researched about my animal, I will still address the pieces of information needed as I construct my website. My presentation would be a gamer formatted explanation presentation. This type of presentation has both the gamer and the game itself recorded. I will use this format for my presentation. Instead of a gamer, it'll be me in the presentation. The game that I'm going to be using for my examples is Roblox. I will record myself in Roblox showing examples while I talk about the poison dart frog. I will be seen in the presentation as well.

31Neina Manios & Mizuki10/15/24Mr. Sarmientowe will research about dolphins and their blowhole feature. We will make a website talking about why the blowhole is important for the dolphin. There will be a big title with images in the middle and videos on the side explaining basic facts about dolphins and their blowhole. I plan to add sections such as why the blowhole is needed for survival or why this is important, how it works and what each part of the blowhole is made of like muscles or skin. Neina's video presentation will be an animation mixed with an interview with me asking a dolphin question about its unique blowhole in which he answers. I want to make the video funny yet informational using facts that I have on my website. Mizuki will make a video where I ask a question. I will cut the video and pretend that I am an expert on this topic and answer all the questions using the information on the website.Approved 10/16

36Pepper10/16/2024Mr. SarmientoI plan to research on the dumbo octopus and their webbed tentacles, and how their unique tentacles help them escape predators like tunas, sharks, and dolphins. They live in the deep open ocean, around 13,000 thousand feet, and likely deeper. They can change colors to protect themselves from danger, and camouflage into their surroundings. I plan to have links, pictures, paragraphs written by me, along with exciting, informal videos also made by me. My website will be colorful, entertaining, and enjoyable to the people that need to learn about the adaptations of the dumbo octopus.
41
37For my presentation, I will be standing in front of a white/chalk board, explaining the adaptations of the dumbo octopus and how their tentacles help them to escape danger. I will write all of the info on the board, and will include pre drawn pictures to create interest in the presentation so that the readers will get involved in my presentation!
