ANNUAL/PERENNIAL KEY
21
Annual = A Annual plants complete their life cycle, from germination to seed production, within a single growing season and then die.
22
Reseeding Annual = RA An annual plant that reproduces by dropping seeds that germinate and grow into new plants the following year.
23
Herbaceous Perennial = P Any plant that persists for several years, usually with new herbaceous growth from a part that survives from season to season.
24
Evergreen/Hardy Perennial = HP A plant that lasts three seasons or more, that retains its leaves throughout the year, and can withstand freezing temperatures in the area where it is growing.
25
Tender Perennial = TP A plant that, while capable of living for more than two years like a typical perennial, is sensitive to frost and cannot survive harsh winters outdoors in the area where it is growing. Usually treated as annuals in colder climates or protected indoors or in greenhouse during cold weather.
26
Woody Perennial (Deciduous) = WP A deciduous plant that lives for more than two years and develops a persistent, woody stem or trunk that provides structural support and remains above ground year-round. These plants are typically trees and shrubs.
27
Woody Perennial (Evergreen) = EWPAn evergreen plant that lives for more than two years and develops a persistent, woody stem or trunk that provides structural support and remains above ground year-round. These plants are typically trees and shrubs.
