1Provide IT and Enterprise Management with comprehensive, vendor-neutral information that will demystify major cloud-related concerns
(such as ensuring adequate security, framing service level agreements, impacts on staffing, and enabling rapid scaling up and down).

1GOALS (high level, specific & explicit tdistinguish CC STC from other communities/organizations; long term, not strictly measurable generic actions)
4
41. Develop and disseminate Cloud Computing knowledge.
2. Facilitate Cloud Computing information exchange.
3. Enable efficient access to Cloud Computing information.
4. Provide Cloud Computing technical guidance, supporting intelligent management decisions.
Note: To accomplish these we will:
(i) recruit volunteer SMEs, authors, practitioners, and researchers
(ii) coordinate Cloud Computing activities across CS Boards (EAB, PUB, SA, TAB, PA, MGA), CS TCs, and IEEE CCI.

29For Goal #1 (Develop and disseminate Cloud Computing knowledge):
30
301.1. Develop CC educational products.Develop Essential Sets12-Q3highEducationInitial document sent to staff by Don Shafer, waiting on feedbackdonePhone call with Don Shafer in November -- he's happy with the essential set that was published and considers that an adeuqate first set; Group could consider an update in a years time if appropriate.Don: Essential Sets – done by staff with no review from this group.
Dennis: Our original idea was to develop an essential set along the lines of the ones we did for software engineering - namely to include key papers and an annotated bibliography, since the Computer Society does not have rights to many of the essential papers.  {By includingthe annotated bibliography, you have a way to tell the reader about important papers and books that are not included in the essential set, thus making the essential set more truly representative of what is essential.} In our ideal plan, this was to be based on the cloud computing body of knowledge. However, an independent effort by publications (that we knew nothing about) has resulted in the publication of a cloud computing essential set in the more conventional format (papers only, no annotated bibliography).  The big advantage here is that it is out now.
Our appropriate course of action now would be to evaluate this essential set, perhaps get one or both of its authors to join the cloud SME team, and work toward a revision that includes the bibliography and has stronger ties to the cloud body of knowledge. This revision would not be produced until approximately 2015 because the cloud computing body of knowledge is unlikely to be available until 2014. Also, in that 3-year time span, the cloud literature is likely to have other importantpublications that should be included in the essential set, thus making the future release more timely.

37
371.1. Develop CC educational products.Undertake new marketing research once first set of courses are compeleted to determine next step13-Q2highEducationDiscussionsstaffDiscussing with education team1/10/2013Dennis: The biggest change we need is better input from the marketing staff on what is needed
in the cloud computing arena.
So far, most of our "market research" has been gathering the opinions of members of the cloud SME team. We would like to get better input from the Society's marketing organization. Among the other sources of such information would be feedback from the MAWs and other events where our cloud courses are taught, and of course whatever information can be gathered by the Cloud STC.
38
381.1. Develop CC educational products.Develop second set of courses and webinarsPossible idea for second set of courses and webinars: Security aspect of Cloud - use above as base 13-Q3highEducationDiscussionsvolDon: Not the case: the plan to begin looking at some of the EC Council SW Security courseware that is aimed at system and network defense - not Cloud.
Dennis: The security SME team discussed the need for courses on the security aspects of cloud computing and the cloud SME team saw such a need as well. We would hope in 2013 to get the two SME teams together to see if courses could be devised in a manner that would address both of our interests and exploit the resources of both teams.
