Overarching Goal: The goal of this project is to engage scholars in designing, building, and creating a scaled model of a facility for neighborhood/abandoned dogs in our community. Scholars will investigate how similar facilities such as ASPCA function, the various designs in different part of the country, and how they can be improved and redesigned to integrate the latest technology available today as well as provide additional services for the community such as socialization for elderly and disenfranchised individuals. Each team will receive crafting materials to sketch and prototype their designs, along with the resources to learn more about dog population in our neighbood and the people who might benefit from the facility. The teams must be creative in determining the aesthetics, feasibility of building it, and the practicality of it components.Color Codes

Teacher introduces scholars to project and project goals. Scholars will develop a plan for completing the project.
Scholars will create an initial sketch of what they envision the first model to look like.
Scholars will begin to create the scale drawing for their chosen design.
Scholars will complete the scale drawing. Teacher and scholars will review and make any necessary revisions.
Scholars will begin to create a physical and digital 3D model of their designs.
Teacher and scholars will review and make any necessary revisions.
Scholars will create a digital 2D sketch of their finalized design for laser cutting.
They will laser-cut, paint, and glue together their final designs
Scholars will finalize their final projects and present it to the class. They will also discuss the type of STEAM content they needed to utilize in order to complete the projectIndividual
