Coral Reef ElementaryWe had a school wide Earth Day poster Contest. The winners of the Poster Contest will be announced. Winning posters will be enlarged and displayed around the school. The school is wearing blue, white, and green to celebrate earth day. Throughout the campus we are doing a collective energy conservation campaign. Each classroom will keep 1-2 of the light switches off and utilize natural sunlight to help collectively conserve energy. Students will be participating in a campus clean up activity during recess. Classrooms will be taking virtual tours and participating in virtual field trips from the SWA to learn about recycling. 4/22/2024

They asked all of our students to commemorate Earth Day by wearing green or an Earth Day shirt on Monday, April 22 and sign our pledge for sustainable living as they enter the school on Earth Day.

The Green Dragons will be handing out earth day stickers to all students who sign the banner and the banner will then be hung in our main student area for the day.

The students will then create a piece of work out of 'garbage' inspired by the coral reef. The students will then act as curators to put the school-wide work of art together to create a giant coral reef display. Students last year created a pollinators paradise area at school for pollinators had a safe place. This year they have been working hard at getting it back up and running ... they sold pavers to classroom to decorate to make a path way for people to go on and enjoy the garden. There are insect homes and plants such as milkweed and places for insects to stop and drink some water.

Once completed student will have a grand reopening to celebrate Pollinators Paradise , the plan is to have it near or on the actual Earth Day date.
