Wrestling meeting today

API Meeting
The first API meeting of the school year is on Monday, August 21st at Bethany Park from 4-5pm. If your interested in joining API or if you want to go to Kilusan, please come!
Schedule Change Request Window
Students must submit schedule change requests through the online form on the counseling website by August 24th. Requests will not be processed if made after the deadline.
Mascot Tryouts
Hey mustangs! Im happy to announce we will be holding tryouts for our mascot Maximus! FIDM Fashion Club is Coming!
Let's make this year a great year to join the FIDM Fashion club. Kiana Alvarez will be the next Club President and will be taking sign-ups. We are eligible for a grant if we sign up 12 or more students! The grant will allow us to buy supplies for projects. Stay tuned for more information on lunch meetings and day. Blood Drive
Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. If you are 16, you can help out at the MHHS Blood Drive on Sept 14. Get your permission slip from Ms Donna at the front desk or Ms Olson in Room C215. This is open to students, staff and the community.
Softball meeting
Attention Lady Mustangs, if you are interested in trying out for Softball, there is a Mandatory meeting on Friday, September 8th at lunch, in the large gym. Find out about conditioning, try-outs, and other important information.
Blood Drive
Did you know that a single car accident victim can require as many as 100 pints of blood? If you are at least 16 years old and weigh at least 110lbs, you can help out at the next MHHS Blood Drive. Get your permission form at the front desk from Ms Donna or from Ms Olson in C215. Sign up when you bring your signed form back.

Early College Meeting
All Cohort 3 Early College Students are to attend a MANDATORY meeting with Mr. Fobert and Dr. Boswell on Thursday, August 31st during SUCCESS. Please meet in the Office Conference Room. ASB Card Holders
Attention all students with an ASB card. For safety and security reasons, the Athletic Department now has a no Re-Entry Policy for all Home Football games. Take you ASB card to the ticket booth and you will be issued one ticket. If you leave the stadium at any point during the game, you will be required to PURCHASE a ticket.

Semptember 11
On September 11, 2001, 16 years ago, 19 militants associated the extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airplanes and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States. Two of the planes were flown into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, a third plane hit the Pentagon just outside Washington, D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Almost 3,000 people were killed during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Let us take a moment of silence to remember those who lost their lives.

Mental Awareness Week
1 in 5 youth suffer from a mental illness or disorder. Next week is National Mental Illness Week, and it’s important to create awareness and show your support for those who suffer from a mental illness. Each day next week, dress up in a color to represent a specific mental illness. We start Monday off with depression; so wear blue to show your support.

Did you know that 8.1% of youth aged 13-18 have experienced at least one depressive episode, while 64.1% of youth have never received treatment for their depression? There needs to be more resources for those with depression! Tomorrow, wear silver to show support for those with bipolar disorder.
LGBTQ History Month
Hello Mustangs! Did you know that roughly 10% of men identify as Gay? That doesn’t seem like much but if you were in a room with 300 men. Around 100 of them would in fact be homosexual. Always remember that a sexuality is not an insult! Be kind to one another!

Boys Basketball Conditioning
Conditioning will start Oct. 3, 2017, at 6pm meet. Interested students should meet in the lobby of the gym. Mandatory conditioning will be held every day for one month leading up to tryouts. If you are involved in an MHHS Fall team, you are exempt from conditioning. We will see you at the conclusion of your season. Good Luck and Stay Healthy!!!

Mental Awareness Week
Love seeing all the silver on campus, in support for those with bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder is characterized by episodes of mood swings that range from depressive lows to manic highs. This disorder is actually quite common, as it affects 5.7 million American adults, with symptoms of Bipolar Disorder arising during the late teenage years. Don’t forget to wear red tomorrow to create awareness and show support for those with ADD/ADHD.
LGBTQ History Month
Hello Mustangs! Roughly 1 out of 5 women identify as lesbians. The term Lesbian comes from a Lebanese poet named Sappho. She wrote about beautiful women and is one of the earliest historical lesbians. Always remember sexuality is not an insult! Be kind to one another!

Mental Illness Awareness Week
Hopefully, we all wore red to show our support for those with ADD/ADHD. Approximately 6.4 million children have been diagnosed with this disorder, while about 8 million adults are currently living with ADD/ADHD. ADD/ADHD is a disorder that causes attention difficulty, hyperactivity, and impulsiveness in those affected by it. Remember to wear teal tomorrow to support those with OCD.

Stigma Free
Stigma is when someone, or even you yourself, views a person in a negative way just because they have a mental health condition. Some people describe stigma as a feeling of shame or judgement from someone else. Stigma can even come from an internal place, confusing feeling bad with being bad.

The StigmaFree campaign is NAMI’s effort to end stigma and create hope for those affected by mental illness. Through powerful words and actions, we can shift the social and systemic barriers for those living with mental health conditions.

Complete your StigmaFree Pledge at on Friday. Look for the StigmaFree table near the cafeteria on Friday to show your pledge or confirmation for a FREE watermelon strawberry switch drink.

Life Skill Class Pop Socket
The Mountain House High School Life Skill class is taking pre-orders for MHHS Mustang PopSockets, for your cell phone and other electronic devices. To place an order go to room A151. Pre-order yours for $10 as quantity is limited. Once here, the pre-orders will be delivered with the remaining number sold in the Quad at Break and Lunch. Again, the PopSockets are $10 each. Check them out outside room A151. Remember to order them early or you may miss out.

Today we ask you to dedicate 5 minutes after the announcements to think about the LGBTQ+ youth who have commited suicide due to the harsh living conditions for Queer youth. For those of you who wish to participate, we urge you to spend most of the day without speaking. You can write instead of talking, and inform your teachers before each class. College Application Labs
Seniors- If you need help completing your college applications- counselors will be hosting open labs on November 2nd, 8th, 14th, and 28th. Please sign up for a time using the online form available in advisory and email!
AP Testing
All AP students, if you are planning to take the AP exam please sign up at the school bank or online at the webstore. The deadline for sign-ups are October 31st. Payment plan options are available at the school bank.

Glee Club Halloween Event
Come join the Glee club on the night before Halloween for the Disney-themed Broadway Princess Party! It will be a night of mysticism and musical talent as the Glee Club makes its first performance of 2017! You won’t want to miss it! Come and celebrate Halloween-Eve the right way with the MHHS Glee Club at the Broadway Princess Party. We’ll be in the MPR on Monday, October 30th starting at 4PM. Tickets will be sold at the door.
