Welcome to the Torah Studio Judaica Collection. As I try to build a Jewish life that is inclusive, equitable, just, egalitarian, and inovative, I've felt stuck in who I was able to buy Judaica from. I wanted to be buying books, ritual items, things like tefillin and kippot and tallitot, scrolls, and everything else I felt I needed to express my Judaism, from people who actually imagined me using it when they created it. Truly accesible and inclusive Judaism doesn't feel like the anxiety of trying on a Kippah or a tallit katan in front of orthodox men, or wearing tefillin written by someone who wouldn't want to sell it to me if they knew I was using it. And I wanted to celerbate a Judaism in diaspora, one where we can make this Judaism from where we are, where we chose to live. So here is a growing list of places, people, and companies that I would want to connect you to, or offer to you, when you want to fill your Jewish life with this art and ritual. Some notes: This list is growing, changing, and likely will never be finished. It's also still imperfect in wording and description. Specifically, I'm actively searching for more sofer/et and wearables. The Bookshelf will be a long project of also building a library of specific books that expand and create beautiful Jewish futures.
