On 22 Aug 2022 I received an email from LDY saying my money had been refunded. The pending refund transaction the same evening that I received the email. The pending transaction was visible on my cc for around 24h then disappeared the next day 23 Aug 2022 and was not completed. I sent an email asking for the refund to be processed. No response other than an auto generated email saying my message had been received.

I ordered twice, because I realized I wanted to gift one to my sisters. My orders were combined. So on her website you can not see the actual total charged to my account which is $27.70, it only shows $16.10. I request a refund in July, and again in August when she sent the email requests. Originally I offered to wait for items with the exception of the Shonda Shawl kit that was offered by LDY to be refunded back in June when they could not fulfill the order. I just contacted them again to ask them to refund all outstanding items since they are unable to complete the orders.

I did receive the e-publication (in Dec 2021, three months late), but never the physical copy (which I paid extra for). Not only that, but when I pre-ordered, the listing mentioned that it would come with a tote—which I have not received nor received information about. I did get an email in March 2022 asking me to confirm my address for the book to be shipped, but no further information has been received.

She also announced in mid Summer 2021 that there would be a specific Canadian distributor for yarns and the print version of Candid & COLORFUL (Julie Asselin yarns). To my knowledge she also hasn’t received the print version.

The exact amount I'm due is unclear. I never received my initial confirmation email. It took a long to even be provided with my order number. I was missing patterns and project bags. The sticker included in one of them I found in the dollar section at Target. The box it's self was poorly put together and it didn't even included the standard tag with the yarn information on it. If I ever received responses to emails it beyond untimely.

Regarding refunds specifically, I received an emails stating it has been completed but I never received any funds. Responses to that were: that email was sent in error, you were over looked, there was a problem with square and then asked to fill out a form requesting the refund. Then it went on repeat of expect your refund during this time and reach out to us if you haven't received it.

Im a new knitter with plenty of disposable income who was thrilled to learn about a WOC right in Boston. I wanted to try out a small sample and had every intent to become a regular customer of a LYS so vocally promoting causes I support. I signed up for an in-person class that was to take place in Jan 2022 the shop was closed due to COVID and she never reached out about if the class was canceled, and I sent numerous emails, Then in February, she sent an email saying she would refund me and allow me to attend class when it was rescheduled. No refund…. No rescheduling. The class was $100.

Purchased the kit and the Winterpalooza box at the same time; received a shipment notification Dec 21, 2021 for the Indiana Sunset kit, but the package never came (and the tracking information never updates from "label created, awaiting package at USPS facility). I initially was very patient, but started to email the company in February to inquire about the package. I've repeatedly emailed them (probably 15 times now?) about it; most messages were not acknowledged, but I did receive some responses that promised resolution. As of 10/12/22, no resolution has ever come.

I received the Winterpalooza box in mid-April, and though one of the yarn bases I requested was substituted with another one, but I never tried to fix this issue.

I’ve been giving the benefit of the doubt on the Craftivist Club I signed up for, and I’m really hoping everything gets straightened out. I’m currently waiting on my Q3 box (still showing as “processing” when the latest email said it would ship 10/12) and I was charged for the Q4 box. I’m totally fine with being patient and supporting a small business that’s hit some unforeseen challenges, but I’m not feeling super great about the conflicting messages and I’m really curious about why I didn’t get the latest newsletter when I’ve been getting all previous communications.

She is one of the first black woman indie dyers I knew, and I am heartbroken and disappointed in what this business has become after 10 years. The first two collaborations I bought from her were delayed, but we got a prompt email, and a shipping notification from UPS with a tracking number. It seems like it got overwhelming for her and she dug a hole she can not climb out of. The best thing to do is honor all refunds and give everyone their items they paid for. Also compensate all of the pattern creator's for their work, and apologize for using their patterns if you didn't get permission from them. Do better, Diane. You did great work advocating for BIPOC creators and voting rights. Now is the time to turn that work inward and do what is right.
