7/25/20087-25-2008: Dan Dinges, CEO of Cabot Oil and Gas, reports this to investors: "To-date, we have drilled eight wells and we have three rigs operating in the project area. One of these rigs is currently drilling our first horizontal well (++) and we will be down on this first horizontal in August. " These statements are confirmed by the PA Spud Database, however Mr. Dinges reports eight, when it's really nine. (he may not have been aware the Ely 2 had just been spudded the day prior)

1/29/2009Based on the existing geochemical data set, we can conclude that the origin of the stray gases detec.ted in the Florentino and Sautner water wells (nine samples analyzed thus far: two stray gas, seven potential sources) is thermogenic in origin, consistent with natural gas from Devonian production. The gas found in these water wells is not consistent with microbial gas that occurs in some shallow aquifer systems. -- Fred Baldassare, P.G. Geologist Department of Environmental Protection43199

7/31/2009Craig Lobins, the DEP regional oil and gas manager who initially described the Dimock case as an anomaly in interviews with ProPublica, said he still believes the frequency of contamination incidents is statistically insignificant. Records show there are roughly 58,000 active gas wells in Pennsylvania. "We are just dealing with a very small percentage," he said in a follow-up interview.

I. Shortly after signing the First Modification, the Department became aware that several of the residents with Affected Water Supplies were not in favor of using a whole house treatment system as a permanent resolution to their impacted water supplies;

J. On May 4. 2010, the Department met with several residents of Dimock Township, including those with Affected Water Supplies, to discuss their concerns over the whole house · treatment systems.

K. Due to the dissatisfaction expressed by residents with Affected Water. Supplies over .the whole house treatment systems, Cabot requested an extension of the 30 day time-frame set forth in Paragraph 4.m. of the Modified 2009 Agreement to address the residents concerns (Source: COSA#3) ---------------

6/18/2010EPA Announces a Schedule of Public Meetings on Hydraulic Fracturing Research Study; August 12 Meeting to be Held in Binghamton, N.Y.

Release date: 06/18/2010

Contact Information:

(New York, N.Y.) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is hosting four public information meetings on the proposed study of the relationship between hydraulic fracturing and its potential impacts on drinking water. Hydraulic fracturing is a process that drills vertical and horizontal cracks underground that help withdraw gas or oil from coalbeds, shale and other geological formations. By pumping fracturing fluids (water and chemical additives) and sands into rock formations, fractures are created in the formation from which natural gas or oil can be more easily extracted. The meetings will provide public information about the proposed study scope and design. EPA will solicit public comments on the draft study plan.

The public meetings will be held on:

July 8 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. CDT at the Hilton Fort Worth in Fort Worth, Texas
July 13 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. MDT at the Marriot Tech Center’s Rocky Mountain Events Center in Denver, Colo.
July 22 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. EDT at the Hilton Garden Inn in Canonsburg, Pa.
August 12 at the Anderson Performing Arts Center at Binghamton University in Binghamton, N.Y. for 3 sessions - 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. EDT

Natural gas plays a key role in our nation’s clean energy future and hydraulic fracturing is one way of accessing this vital resource. However, serious concerns have been raised about hydraulic fracturing’s potential impact on drinking water, human health and the environment. To address these concerns, EPA announced in March that it will study the potential adverse impact that hydraulic fracturing may have on drinking water.

To support the initial planning phase and guide the development of the study plan, the agency sought suggestions and comments from the EPA Science Advisory Board (SAB)—an independent, external federal advisory committee. The agency will use this advice and extensive stakeholder input to guide the design of the study.

Stakeholders are requested to pre-register for the meetings at least 72 hours before each meeting.
