Families will be invited to bring their books and cozy blankets and read with their children in our gym. We will be serving cookies and milk. During the school day. Family Pajama Reading Night will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Chaparral Elementary SchoolChaparral will pair lower-grade stduents with students in the upper grades. Upper-grade srtudents will read 1:1 to lower-grade students from 2:30-3:00 p.m.2:30-3:30 p.m.

E.J. Martinez Elementary SchoolParent, teachers, the principal and community members will sign up to read in the classrooms during the day (adults/volunteers will be encouraged to bring their favorite children's book).Throughout school day

El Camino Real AcademyDia de los Niños y Libros will feature morning author visits and literacy programs and an afternoon carnival with a book/cake walk, games, a Pat Mora, poet, station, face painting, etc. We also have a "One Book One School" Celebration where we all read the same book. Each student will receive a copy of Ms. Mora's book Book Fiesta. Staff will dress as book characters.Literacy Events and author visits in the morning from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Afternoon carnival from 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Kearny Elementary SchoolOur Equity and Diversity team prepared two projects. There is a lower-grade project in which every child receives the book My Brother Charlie and every upper-grade student receives the book Wings. Both books deal with students with exceptionalities. All teachers will read the book with their class and do corresponding activities as created by our Equity and Diversity team. Throughout school day

Nava Elementary SchoolEach class will make and exchange bookmarks. Teachers will decorate "shopping" centers so students can pick a book from our give away. Once this is all done they will have time to read together.Morning, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Ramirez Thomas Elementary School
We will have a read-a-thon on the soccer field with parents. Students will read for 30 minutes and then write a book recommendation. These will be collected and posted in the hallway of the school. Staff and students will be encouraged to dress up as their favorite book character. We will have a fashion parade around the field, and have a raffle for those staff and students who participate in dressing up.9:00-10:00 a.m.

Sweeney Elementary SchoolAn evening of enriching entertainment and fun, which include instructional activities, all centered around the theme of providing reading strategies and promoting collaboration with our families and students. Each grade level will be responsible for creating an instructional activity at their table for the evening. We will also include one hour of reading during the school day. 5:30-7:00 p.m.
