Land Management Actions title 1Enter the land management actionsTime Controlled Rotational Grazing
17
Land Management Actions description 1Since 2013, Wilmot Cattle Co. has implemented time controlled rotational grazing at Wilmot Farm. In order to mirror natural herding behaviors, time controlled rotational grazing optimizes the number of stock in a paddock, matches the grazing period with available pasture, shortens grazing periods in each paddock, and follows these activities by long resting periods to allow the pasture to recover. When managed well, this grazing system increases groundcover, biomass, plant diversity, animal and plant nutrition, soil health, water infiltration and soil organic carbon. A more complete explanation of the science, monitoring tools and management practices is provided below.

Land Management Actions title 3Increas Stock Density
23
Land Management Actions description 3Carefully managed, high stock densities lead to evenly grazed pastures, nutrient recycling, increases in pasture health and performance by trampling (or recycling) a higher proportion of biomass, and evenly distributing dung and urine (nutrients).
