Leo left us peacefully at home, July 5, 2019. He was 13 years old. In the end, his body had failed him and he was skin and bones. Leo died from Acromegaly complications and small cell lymphoma.

In summary, he had throat and salivary growths which greatly impeded eating. The growths got progressively worse, especially in his last 8 months. His small cell lymphoma symptoms also got worse, including untreatable indicators in his white and red blood cell counts. The inability to eat much food, led to weight loss. The weight loss got worse, and was not reversable. His 18 pound frame was down to 11.5 pounds at the end. Despite all his health issues he was mostly mentally alert until the end. We declined an autopsy. The SRT provided him nearly 3 extra years of life, but we feel the Acromegaly and excess growth hormones contributed to his decline, especially in his last 8 months.

Leo gave us 9 lifetimes of loving. We will miss all the head butts, his gentle rumbling purr, which he shared so freely and the countless naps on our laps. There was no better diabetic patient than Leo. He would often come over and lay on the "testing" blanket without being asked. Oh my Leoberry, Daddy misses you so much. You were the very best.

Leo's diabetes and Acromegaly journey, including the radiation (SRT) documentation of his
trip from Austin, TX to Ft. Collins, Colorado in September 2016.
The SRT gave Leo 2.5 more years of life. We remain grateful to the CSU team in Ft. Collins.

During this week, 3 years ago in 2016, I drove round trip from Austin, TX to Ft.Collins, CO to get Leoberry the SRT (Radiation) for his Acromegaly. It was an expensive procedure. We always hoped Leo would have a much longer life. He was 10 years old in June 2016.
Then as his health declined we hoped for his 13th Birthday, which he achieved in June 2019.
And we hoped he would make it to the 3 year SRT anniversary, but it was not meant to be.

I'm missing on you Leoberry. More than words can convey.
Mom misses you too. You were a good kitteh.

Love Mom and Dad
