Q20 - Motor boats, including jet boats, are allowed on this section of the Rogue River. The state park system has no role in setting those rules. We are interested in allowing a local business to pick up and drop off jet boat customers under an agreement with the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. Is this a good fit for TouVelle? How could this affect your use of the park, or your use of the section of the river inside the park? What controls do you think should be written into the agreement to protect the river and neighbors outside the park boundary?

Jet boats traveled up and down the river. The walk-in access point was crowded with people using the jet boats, and I didn't see folks paying the daily fee it costs to attend or use the park.

Remove the commercial Jet boat operations and restore the park for the public to use. It has changed the river experience and has made me less likely to travel down and use the park, pay the fee, and spend money down in Jackson County.

It just seems that more often than not there is a different dynamic there. Littering, drinking, yelling,etc. People don’t get out of the way once they’ve put their boat in.

I am always against any motorized boats on our beautiful Rogue River so I guess that you know my opinion.

The new people that you want to bring are the rowdy action kind of people they’re not the pensive kind of people that want to have solitude so that ruins the entire river. Don’t we have enough yippie fun stuff that people can do somewhere else?

Can we not save any part of nature for just blending in with nature instead of making our mark?

The peace and quiet, trail and river access were easy, I could easily swim and so could my dog :)

I do wish that people who booked sites to have picnics would do a better job cleaning up after themselves. It should not be the parks responsibility to pick up after them, I think it is very disrespectful on the patrons behalf.

Otherwise I really enjoy visiting TouVelle.

I enjoyed the peaceful river habitat. Getting in the river for fishing makes a person feel connected to the river and habitat

Tables could be updated. I worry if jet boat concession is aloud it will take away or interfer with the enjoyment we enjoy there, the quiet, the wildlife, not a lot of people. We do not have many parks left that we can enjoy and with fewer people available to police the park people will get rowdy, drinking, loud music.

I just enjoy the park, it is well kept and as a native Rogue Valley Gal I have many memories in the park

I do wish that maybe there could be a fenced dog area toward the back of the park. I know there is one on the other side of the river at the boat launch but it is so covered In star thistle and burrs I don't like going there.

The Jet boat that now operates is quiet, well behaved and nothing like the jet boat experience out of Grants Pass where people yell and scream

We were fishing near the bridge and had to stop every time a jet boat went by. And as they came and went from the other side of the park. It was distracting, seemed to be causing extra erosion and disruption to the sides of the river at the shore due to the big waves.

I believe the tranquility of the park can be better preserved by not allowing the jet boats to have a concession at the park. There are other opportunities for jet boats in Grants Pass, and it does not serve the wildlife of the general community to have the tourist attraction ruining the park.

I think allowing a jet boat business to use the park for drop off and pick ups will overall negatively affect the park. By and large, the jet boats are a tourist attraction that, other than for that concessionaire, does not bring in other revenue to the area, probably puts a burden on the trash and restroom situation at that area of the park and destroys the peaceful and serene setting of the park along the Rogue. If the business is allowed to continue to use the park, a speed limit should be instituted within the borders of the park as large waves from the boats are destructive to the bank, wildlife, fishermen/women and families playing along the shore.

The paved path along the river was way too short, and in very poor condition. My son uses a wheelchair, and it was difficult

Loved the peace and quiet and watching fly fisher folk. Jet boats would destroy that, imho.

Touvelle is a beautiful spot to fish, and I often made the hour plus drive from the Applegate Valley to visit.

On many occasions, jet boats tear through the park, one after another, ruining the fishing opportunity. I can only imagine they're severely impacting critical marine habitat.

Parking fee is ridiculous. Hom3less camper vans are always there and creepy. Bathrooms locked.

Although I like the crew and appreciate their business I feel the boat activity is incredibly hard on the fishery. I have been observing the jet boats for 3 seasons now. The impact on the river is substantial. The boat activity is continues and a disruption. The disruption creates a constant turmoil to the river bed especially when running off the main channel up adjacent or parallel streams..the boats take short cuts for crowd fun and one should watch the outflow afterwards. Sport fishing is also part of our Southern Oregon Life style and I'm grateful to have an opportunity to foice this opinion.

I really enjoyed the quite and the sound of the River as it flowed by. I didn’t catch any steelhead but the main reason I fish is to enjoy the solitude and appreciate the natural environment.

I’d remove the pay booth. Allowing people to use the park (excluding groups) without fees would: 1) better serve and 2) bring new people into the park. I would also recommend expanding the trail network (including maps of trails in the adjacent Denman Wildlife Area) and provide more interpretive signs.

It was plesant day, but the fishing was not what it used to be. The river flows since Lost Creed Resevoir was put in have changed dramatically. Summer Steelhead used to come up the river and hold up in holes during the day them move up river probably at night. I used to fish those holes. Since the dam the river flow is kept too hign and steady and the holes have filled in with grael. Summer steelhead is just not as fun as it used to be. Before the dam I used to fish in shorts and teinnis shoes and could wade completely across the river in some places. I feel jet boats change the nature of the river. I am not in favor of commercial use of jet boats in the upper river.
