2	The sources for this spreadsheet about sawlogs are Year Books, Annual Reports, and a table produced for the Timber Industry Inquiry in 1984.
3	Up to about 1934/35 the forest agency has relied on data from sawmillers (the sawn timber output) to track and pay for sawlogs harvested.
4	Converting this to a sawlog volume requires some estimate of the sawn timber rate of recovery.
5	The relevant calculations below assume a recovery rate of 50%, which is probably very optimistic, but it provides for a conservative estimate of sawlog volume.
6	Once sawlog volumes began to be reported it is assumed that any figures provided in super feet are Hoppus Log Volume - approximately 78.5% of true volume.
