We’re celebrating the first 100-days of the 117th Congress by calling on our Senators to strengthen our democracy––by passing HR1, DC Statehood, the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, & reforming our courts, and eliminating the Jim Crow Filibuster.

Join fellow Indivisibles across Washington State for a CALL RELAY to our US Senators, Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell! You will be making two phone calls—one to each DC office. Please leave a message if you don’t get a live person. It will take you about 5 minutes. The phone numbers are above, and the script is to the right.
SCRIPT for SENATOR MURRAY (please make ALL points in BOLD):

Thank Senator Murray for supporting:
• S 1 - For The People Act
• S 4 - John Lewis Voting Rights Act
• S 51 - DC Statehood
• Sponsorship of the PRO Act

My main reason for calling
• We must eliminate the filibuster to pass all of these bills
• We must do so by this summer to protect the 2022 elections from voter suppression

Some points you might make:
• We want the Senator to use her position in senior Democratic leadership to eliminate the filibuster entirely
• It’s not enough to carve out exceptions for democracy bills because other vital legislation would still be blocked by the filibuster
• Even Senator Murray’s own PRO Act would be blocked by the filibuster
• We are all counting on Senator Murray to use the influence she has earned to make this happen, and to declare her position publicly.
• I expect Sen Murray to stand firm on these issues, and as her constituent I stand behind her on this.
• Now, more than ever, we need bold, transformative change.

• I expect Sen Cantwell to stand firm on these issues, and as her constituent, I stand behind her on this.
• Now, more than ever, we need bold, transformative change.
