8/14/20155 (Summer) Look over more designs and went over some design symbols and what they mean. Read more books 1012/18/20153First started scaling a house to using AutoCAD. I only did the front portion of the house. Made the shapes and printed them out. And started to cut them out. 3

12/14/20152I did some of the basics today. File papers, shadow my mentor around the office and see what he does. He gave me blue prints and a sheet with labels with it. Told me to study it so I know what the blue prints are saying. 1212/19/20153As I was trying to piece them together, they werent fitting (sadly). My cuts were really off, my cuts were crooked so I had to redo the whole front portion of the house again. 6

12/15/20152I did more review of schematics and building designs. Then I started to learn the AutoCAD program. Played around with it for a while. 1412/20/20154Now I started to piece the front part of the house. Looking pretty good if you ask me. I had trouble with an arch that was needed as a door way. Had to redo this wall a couple of times. 10

12/16/20152I did a little reviewing of schematics. Then my mentor helped me a little of the basic functions of AutoCAD. Didn't tell me too much, wanted me to learn for myself. So I played more with the program trying to make what I can and learn more tools. 1612/26/20152I used AutoCAD to start scaling the different sides of the house and the scaling the garage. 12

12/17/20152Spent the whole day playing around with AutoCAD. My mentor gave me a sheet of paper with shapes on them. I had to redesign them on the program and make sure they are up to scale. 1812/27/20152I began to cut the garage parts and piece them together. Then I worked on the other sides of the house, cutting it out. 14

12/21/20154Spent half of the time on AutoCAD. Try to design something nice (was terrible). Then my mentor gave me a book about drawing. I need to know how to vizualize what I imagine and put it down on paper. So spent some time drawing. 2212/29/20154I put the house together with the other sides and connected the garage with the house with two walls. Then I began scaling the second floor of the house. 18

12/22/20154Did pretty much the same thing as yesterday. Worked on AutoCAD and worked on drawing. He also went over tools they have, like a scalor and a triangle thats used for drawing. 261/2/20164I put the second floor together. Came out better than I expected even though I messed up a little. The pieces didn't align nicesly so I had to make a few adjustments. 22

12/23/20154I did the same thing as the day before. I worked on AutoCAD and spent more time drawing. Visualizing what you think is not that easy. What's cool is that my mentor took me out to eat and we talked about stuff...architecture and stuff. 301/3/20164I did some work on the front side of the house. The steps and porch are tiny so it took a while. But I got it done. 26
11
12/28/20154I did the usual stuff as the previous week. Drew some buildings and art or at least tried to draw. And spent more time trying to figure out how to work AutoCAD. 341/4/20161.5I didn't construct anything, I planned out the roof and got pictures of windows for my building. 27.5

12/30/20154Again, it was a fairly simple day. Did the same things as two days ago. This time spent some time looking at design plans of a client's house. Helped my mentor with some modeling he was doing. 381/5/20164I cut out the roof and glued it on. Then I started cutting out the details for the house. 31.5

1/11/20162It has been a while since I have been with my mentor, so he caught me back up with what he was doing and gave me some papers to fill out. 401/8/20163I finished gluing the details on the model house and added a molding around the house.34.5
14
1/13/20163Now, since I am a littler cooler with my mentor now, he is giving me a little more work. He is giving me extra work to finish on his model he has made. Adding roof beans.43

1/18/20163Today was different. I had to sort out design sheets that my mentor wanted me to do. There was stacks and rolls of design sheets that I had to organize. 46Independent Component 2Extra Mentroship
16
1/20/20162I finished up organizing design sheets that are quite big, some you need to put in a cabiniet and others are needed to be rolled and stored someplace else. 48DateHours What I DidTotal Hours

1/25/20163Things switched gears for a bit, went out to eat with my mentor and while we were gone he took me around to describe the influences and design aspects of buildings. After, we came back to the office whereI wokred on AutoCAD.512/15/20162Mentor started on a new project and wanted me to follow him through it every step of the way. We began with the basic design and what the client wanted to be done. 2

1/27/20162Today was more of an easy day, I worked on AutoCAD helping with basic designs. 532/17/20164We've gone through a bit of sketching and I've watched my mentor and he created the designs and the dimensions. All the while, he gave brief explanations of what he was doing and why he was doing it. 6
19
2/1/20162I did prep for my mentor. My mentor asked me to make pieces for a new model he wanted to make. I started that and drew the shapes on a cutting material. 552/22/20164Rough draft was shown to the client and now we are working on some final details. 10
20
2/3/20162I did more prep for my mentor and did some extra work for one of his co-workers. He wanted to get something done for the model and I helped out with it. 572/24/20163Unfortuneatley, I cannot be there for all the meeting my mentor has due to his deadlines, so I came with him on a different meeting with his client. 13
21
2/8/20163I worked on AutoCAD about half the time I was at mentorship and then I helped out in the office. I did what I could. I made pieces for the new house model my mentor and his team was building and I organized more sets of paper for him. 602/29/20163My mentor introduced me to one of his friends that are also an architect. I stayed with him for a while and discussed my senior project. 16
22
3/2/20162Meet with my mentor's friend, and shadowed him when he was working. 18
23
3/7/20163Again, I went with my mentor and shadowed him as he had his meeting with his client, talking about their design. 21
24
3/9/20162My mentor was late, so I stayed at the office doing some work for him. Like my mentor hours, I used AutoCAD and did some organizing for my mentor. 23
25
3/14/120163I basically stayed with my mentor the whole time and we talked about my EQ and more of the basis of which I was going. gave me some information about my topic. 26
26
3/16/20163Did more work in the office, help out. I did more meaurments of pieces for model pieces. And I cut out the pieces too. 29
27
3/18/20162Iwent out with my mentor again and he took me out to a meeting with his client, from there they talked about finalizing the design and concern they may have about the structure of the building. 31
