This class was too short. I wish I could take it again because I might retain more the second time. I wanted to learn more about RNASeq and miRNAseq

As you discussed in class, I definitely think that having the NGS part separate would be beneficial. I think it would be interesting to discuss what you do when you are presented with an imperfect data set (are there ways to correct for certain problems) and/or if you are planning a NGS experiment how do you best design your experiment (what coverage, sample size, etc, clearly the more the better but designing an experiment in a cost effective manner is important, too).

it is a very good intro course. It may be beneficial to divide it in several parts and expand each part a bit; students could follow all or only some parts depending on their interest.
Also, it would be nice if possible to have a similar course that goes 1 or 2 times a week only but for a whole semester, which would be easier to follow time-wise for research personnel; it is difficult to dedicate to class 4h/day every day of the week, even if it is for 2 weeks only.

NGS needs to be branched off. I'd like to get to know a single language (python) more intimately using biopython, etc than to use a lot of the extraneous tools for sequence analysis. You should make a 16GB system image with all of the necessary software preinstalled, it would save a lot of time and headaches.
