Full Scholarship List 8.0 Information
4
5
Thank you for purchasing the all new Full Scholarship List version 8.0!
6
7
This version has 4 tabs of scholarship information:
8
1.School-Sponsored Scholarships tab - This is the list of full-ride and full-tuition scholarships offered by colleges around the country (institutional merit scholarships)
9
2. State-Sponsored Scholarships - This is a new listing of state-sponsored full-ride and full-tuition scholarships that are based on merit (not need based)
10
3. Private Scholarship Programs - This is a new listing of private scholarship programs that offer full-ride and full-tuition scholarships based on merit
11
4. Colleges That Don't Offer Merit Scholarships - These are the colleges that do not offer any merit-based aid to incoming freshmen (they only offer need-based aid)
12
13
You will not find the following types of merit scholarships on the list:
14
ROTC scholarships broken out by college (these are now generalized on the Private Scholarship Programs tab).
15
Scholarships based on a student's location smaller than a state (scholarships for a particular county, city or high school).
16
Most scholarships where financial need was a significant factor - this list is designed for families who won't qualify for need-based aid.
17
I did leave some scholarships at expensive private colleges where need was considered along with merit.
18
Scholarships offered in amounts less than Full Tuition (although I do have a few that are marked "close to" Full Tuition).
19
20
For Version 8.0, all scholarships listed on the prior version were reviewed. I removed any that were no longer listed on the school's website unless I knew for sure they were still offered. I also found additional full tuition and full ride scholarships to add.

Tips For Using Full Scholarship List 8.0
22
23
Scholarship Type
24
There are 5 options in the Scholarship Type field: Automatic, Competitive, National Merit/Achievement, Talent and Valedictorian/Salutatorian.
25
If your student is not (or you don't expect him or her to be) a national merit commended student, semi-finalist or finalist, you may want to filter out this scholarship type.
26
Talent scholarships on the list are for music, art, dance or theater talent. If your student doesn't have significant talent in one of these areas, you may want to filter out this scholarship type.
27
If your student is not on track to be in the top 2 students in his or her high school graduating class, you may want to filter out the Valedictorian/Salutatorian option.
28
29
Automatic scholarships are the "gold standard" because you know your student qualifies before he or she even applies to the college. There can be a very fine line between automatic and competitive, so if you think your child will qualify for an automatic scholarship, make sure to check with the admissions or financial aid office at the school to verify this will definitely be offered to every student who meets the stated criteria.
30
31
In-State/Out-of-State Eligibility for Public Colleges
32
This field will tell you if the scholarship is for in-state students, out-of-state students, or both. If it really isn't clear, the entry is "unknown". If you see that, and it's a school/scholarship you are interested in, you should call the financial aid office to confirm eligibililty.
33
34
Yearly Scholarship Amount
35
Scholarships marked "full tuition" may or may not also cover fees. I chose not to differentiate.
36
If you see "plus", like "full tuition plus" or "full ride plus", it means it goes above and beyond to cover something additional. The plus might be a stipend, a study abroad term, books, a laptop or other.
37
38
Note that the tuition, acceptance rate and mid-50% ACT and SAT values come from IPEDS. This data source runs 1-2 years behind the upcoming application season, but is much easier to use than going to each college's website to find this data. It will be close enough for your initial research purposes. You can find the statistics for the current freshman class on most college's websites (they are sometimes hard to find though).
