ABOUT THE ARCHIVES
9
This is an imperfect attempt to chart out the unofficial governance timelines of 20 prominent daos in the Ethereum ecosystem. DAOs were selected based on several factors, including the length of their history and the relevance of challenges faced by the DAO. The idea was not to highlight “top DAOS” but rather to highlight DAOs that the entire ecosystem can learn from.
10
To the best of my ability, posts have been placed at the time an idea was first acknowledged by the community. In many instances, the first version of a proposal is highlighted, but subsequent versions aren't, as the intent was to identify when an issue was first raised and not each time a process occurred.
11
The passing status of these proposals is not usually indicated. Official proposals, rather than forum posts, are indicated by [] brackets in the title.
12
In most cases, proposals to use tools or services were only included when those proposals were not made by the team providing the product/service.
13
These timelines are not comprehensive and focus primarily on governance issues, with an emphasize on policy and process at the social layer. They run from token launch through December 2022.
14
Specific details and links to subsequent proposals can be found in comments in the associated cell.
15
This resource was created entirely using publicly available information. I am not an active member of any of these DAOs and therefore did not have an informational advantage in compiling this resource. However, I may also lack context derived from being a member of the day-to-day operations of these DAOs.

Tabs underlined in Red or no longer being updated. Tabs underlined in Orange will soon be updated. Tabs underlined in green have been updated as of the most recent update.

Note: Mapping out the long history and complexity of Makerdao presents a unique challenge. I've made a best efforts attempt to capture the major events, but more context will be required for complete understanding.

LIBRARY

Key resources from these timelines have been aggregated and labeled in an open-source library. Key documents can be sorted by dao, category, or sub-category. Click “Load more,” there are +500 rows.
