Willingness to attend the Basic Catechist course and become a certified catechist. Plan and lead a class of children as they grow in their faith. Background check and Safe Environment training required.Basic Catechist Class. Must be renewed every 3 years with workshops or classes taken in between. Safe Environments training required.Basic Catechist class: 42 hours if in person; 12 weeks if online; varies if hybrid
Class planning: expect to spend an hour a week to plan your one hour class.

Baptism Assistance[For baptisms NOT celebrated during Mass] Assist the Deacon in set up, during the Rite, and storing baptism items, as needed.On occasion, baptisms may be celebrated outside of a Mass, usually by a Deacon. An assistant or a couple will prepare the items needed for the baptism (candles, stole, holy oils, towels, and documents for the baptism), assisting as needed. They may also participate as readers.
