|16t (Japan)||Sega||1991||Arcade||No, Round 8||3.5/10||15:47|
Same thing over and over, a bizarre platformer puzzler. Gets dull after a bit.
|3 Ninjas Kick Back (USA)||Malibu||1994||Platformer||Yes||4/10||1:30:12|
Below average platformer, not terrible. Can be a little frustrating at times. Reminds me of the Amiga.
|688 Attack Sub (USA, Europe)||Sega||1991||Sub Simulator||Kinda?||3/10||34:54|
So clunky and hard to manage, but could be fun if you're into that kinda thing. I beat a mission, good enough for me.
|AAAHH!!! Real Monsters (USA)||Realtime Associates||1995||Platformer||No||5/10||31:41||Just kind of average, hard to figure out, kinda unpleasant to look at/play||Spladderal|
|Action 52 (USA) (Unl)||Farsight Technologies||1993||Compilation||Yes||2/10||2:13:37||Not that great.||KateLibC|
|Addams Family Values (Europe)||Ocean||1994||Action RPG||No||4/10||1:38:03||Just kinda unfulfilling Zelda-clone. Funny dialogue at times!||RabbitDumpling|
|Addams Family, The (USA, Europe)||Ocean||1994||Platformer||No||4/10||42:20||Way too slippery and grueling, levels are too long.||GarbitheGlitcheress|
|Advanced Busterhawk Gleylancer (Japan) (Translated En)||NCS||1992||Shooter||Yes||10/10||1:00:07|
Amazing gameplay, creative and unique hazards and level design, cute and fun story, gorgeous graphics and music. An "average shmup" that goes above and beyond. Also the 100th game I've played!
Advanced Daisenryaku - Deutsch Dengeki Sakusen (Japan) (Translated En)
|Sega||1991||TRPG||No||1.5/10||20:27||Rather bad Fire Emblem-esque WW2 simulator, mostly just dull.||Lizstar|
|Adventures of Batman & Robin, The (USA)||Clockwork Games||1995||Platform||No||4/10||43:49|
Kinda drab beat-em-up, super difficult, kinda the same thing over and over.
|Adventures of Mighty Max, The (USA)||WJS Design||1994||Platform||No||2/10||47:27|
Shockingly terrible, very stiff and awkward, sound effects are laughable, graphics are laughable, gameplay is laughable, it's just bad. And VERY frustrating, sometimes, with the really really awful level design.
|Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends, The (USA)||Imagineering||1993||Platform||No||3/10||36:56|
Terrible controls, boring music and graphics, EXTREMELY rude and memory intensive gameplay. It was described as "I WannA Be The Guy", but with Rocky and Bullwinkle. The story and charm of the game is actually pretty good though, and funny.
|Adventurous Boy - Mao Xian Xiao Zi (China) (Unl)||Gamtec||1993||Shooter||Yes||6/10||32:00||Literally just a bootleg Fantasy Zone, but shockingly fun?|
|Aero the Acro-Bat (USA)||Iguana Entertainment||1993||Platform||No||3.5/10||47:01|
Frustrating, ugly, awful music, the controls and hit detection are atrocious, the double jump roll is so hard to aim, and it is VERY easy to die.
|Aero the Acro-Bat 2 (USA)||Iguana Entertainment||1994||Platform||No||6/10||52:04||A lot better.||GarbitheGlitcheress|
|N/A||6/10||1:30:00||A pretty alright, but hard to decypher Airport Simulator.||SuddenlyCassie|
|Aerobiz Supersonic (USA)||Koei||1994|
A pretty alright, but hard to decypher Airport Simulator. An upgraded version basically.
|After Burner II (USA, Europe)||Sega||1990||Shooter||No||7/10||7:00|
A little lacking in replayability, but it's a good port. Makes you EXTERMELY motion sick easily, though. Even people who don't usually get motion sick.
|Air Buster (USA)||Kaneko||1991||Shooter||Yes||8/10||27:58|
A little short, but very good, very fun, nice difficulty all around I'd say, and AMAZING music. Amazingly bad translation, it literally ends with a "congraturation"
|Air Diver (USA)||Asmik||1990||Shooter||No||3/10||7:00|
Couldn't play long, massive motion sickness. It's kinda bad Top Gun. Shoot at people for a while until a super ship comes that can easily get behind you and you can't maneuver to it. Turning seems to do nothing?
|Akira (Prototype)||Black Pearl||?||Action||N/A||N/A||31:05|
So not complete I can't give it a rating, Many parts are very impressive, it follows the movie really well, looks pretty good, but clearly unfinished.
|Aladdin (USA)||Virgin Interactive||1993||Platform||Yes||8/10||56:44||Great Platformer, very good music. A few frustrating parts.||Clareic|
|Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle (USA)||Sega||1989||Platform||Yes||3.5/10||55:49|
At first I was going to give a 5, because it's almost so average there's no point to playing it, but the boss fights are absolute dogshit bad, why am I forced to play rock paper scissors like 7 times, that's not engaging. Also the final level is REALLY bad, and REALLY long, for a game that's so incredibly short otherwise.
|Alien 3 (USA, Europe)||Probe Entertainment||1993||Platform||No||6/10||43:08|
This game has about as much to do with Alien 3 as Doom does, but, it's really not as bad as I've heard. It's a balls hard, high action collectathon. This version has 15 levels, while the SNES has 6 and a password system, so this version is more, but WAY overtuned for difficulty. The music is fucking incredible, though
|Alien Soldier (Europe)||Treasure||1995||Platform||Yes||10/10||3:00:00||Very hard boss-rush game, but very cfreative and gorgeous and good.||Gliitchless|
|Alien Storm (World)||Sega||1991||Beat-'Em-Up||Yes||7/10||29:12|
Lots of neat ideas, doesn't really overstay its welcome for a beat em up, the last level's map kinda sucks, but not bad
|Alisia Dragoon (USA)||Game Arts||1992||Platform||No||7/10||1:26:08|
Really fun game design and concept, plays well, but loses two whole points on a terribly designed level most of the way through that made me throw my controller in disgust and anger.
|Altered Beast (USA, Europe)||Sega||1989||Beat-'Em-Up||Yes||5.5/10||46:07|
People hate on this game, but I think it's not that bad. It's an okay arcadey beat em up, repetetive, but short, and very hard.
Weirdly unresponsive, and confusing about what the game wants you to do to progress at any specific point, but there's a glimmer of a good game in there.
|Arcade Classics (USA, Europe)||Al Baker and Associates||1996||Platform||N/A||3.5/10||35:00|
The original games are amazing classics, and for the most part these are just not good ports of them. The graphics are shockingly bad, the controls have weird input lag and... inertia, kinda? The cursor on Missile Command is BONKERS, and the physics on Pong are just straight incorrect. But, eh, they're still arcade classics.
|Arcus Odyssey (USA)||Wolf Team||1991||Platform||N/A||7.5/10||34:32|
Game crashed, passwords don't work, was having a lot of fun before it crashed, so that sucks. Kinda Gauntlet-y
|Ariel the Little Mermaid (USA, Europe)||Bluesky Innovations||1992||Platform||No||3.5/10||16:15|
Ecco the Dolphin, but with a fluctuating terrible framerate, terrible awkward clunky controls, and a collectathon. Music is nice, but VERY GEMSy
|Arrow Flash (USA, Europe)||Renovation||1990||Shooter||Yes||7/10||32:42|
A good shmup, just not quite exciting enough. Some levels are a tad dull, but, most of the game keeps you entertained for the short amount of time it's there. Good difficulty curve, cool gimmicks (the switching between ship styles and super attacks are neat!).
|Art Alive (World)||Sega||1991||Puzzle||N/A||4/10||1:00:00|
With a lack of mouse support, it's pretty rough. Some things are really hard to accurately place, especially with the pencil tool, but if you just use spraytool, you can do some fun stuff. I made some cute Bob Ross painting.
|Art of Fighting (USA)||SNK||1994||Fighter||No||2/10||27:24|
A shitty Street Fighter rip off, and Street Fighter is already a bad game. Unneccesarily difficult, cheating AI, shitty nuclear launch code attacks, boring palyable characters, the only time I was having fun is when I got to see the Lesbian King, King, herself.
|Asterix and the Great Rescue (USA)||Sega||1994||Platform||No||7.5/10||1:00:52|
Very cute, lots of charm, well made and designed, but the concept of fail and learn wears on you, and the levels are just genuinely really frustratingly difficult.
|Asterix and the Power of the Gods (Europe)||Core Design||1995||Platform||No||4/10||20:00|
Fraaaaames. Issues with my NTSC hardware. It looks kinda okay otherwise, maybe a bit boring? Just an average to subpar licensed experience, destroyed by lag.
|Atomic Robo-Kid (USA)||Treco||1990||Shooter||Yes||7/10||37:29|
A little claustraphobic at points, not incredible music, but still pretty fun shooty platformy flying game.
|Atomic Runner (USA)||Data East||1992||Shooter||No||3.5/10||33:14|
Frustrating and confusing controls that end up killing you, bad auto-scroller design with enemies you can't avoid or dodge.
|Awesome Possum Kicks Dr Machino's Butt! (USA)||Tengen||1993||Platformer||No||1/10||N/A||Gives horrible motion sickness||N/A|
Pretty hard, but very short. 10 levels, no continues. It's a weird flying flappy bird game, very samey collectathon after a whiel, but it functions and is fine.
|Ayrton Senna's Super Monaco GP II (USA)||Sega||1992||Driving||No||5/10||17:52|
Feels like its missing something for a racing game. I was told by chat that it looks pretty fun if you're into F1, but I feel there's no a whole lot here. Racers are real aggressive, draw distance is kinda short, but no lag or choppiness which is nice]
|B.O.B. (USA, Europe)||Chris Gray Enterprises||1993||Action||No||5/10||30:00|
A slightly charming platformer, but the charm and gameplay overstay their welcome surprisingly fast; it gets tiring after the first 30 minutes, a slog to get through the weird momentum and outdated jokes.
|Baby's Day Out (USA) (Proto)||Designer Software||1994||Platform||No||3/10||45:43|
Not as bad as I was led to believe! It's bad yea, but not THAT bad. It's a bad puzzle game with slippery controls, bad sound design, and not much else.
|Back to the Future Part III (USA)||Probe Entertainment||1991||Platform||No||3.5/10||39:39||Relentlessly difficult, controls are confusing, good presentation though.||Coralcola|
|Ball Jacks (Japan, Europe)||Namco||1993||Platform||No||4/10||10:29|
Good multiplayer, but 1st player is eh, like, it's a realyl cool concise concept for what almost feels like a fake sports game, but its just extremely frustrating to play.
|Ballz 3D - Fighting at Its Ballziest (USA, Europe)||PF.Magic||1994||Fighter||No||5/10||15:47||Not as terrible as people say it is.||Lunchonbreak|
|Barbie Super Model (USA)||Tahoe Software||1992|
The term "Walking Simulator" was coined way too late, it should have been put for this game. It's functional, it's not meant to be a lot, but it really should be more.
|Barbie Vacation Adventure (USA) (Proto)||Software Creations||1994||Action||Yes (?)||3/10||28:20|
Absolutely mindless and brainless, with none of the charm of other small kids games. Just a collection of not great mini games.
|Bare Knuckle III (Japan) (Translated En)||Sega||1994||Beat-'Em-Up||Yes||7.5/10||1:11:09|
Where to fucking start. First of all, it's Streets of Rage, so it's boring, press B a bunch, then wait for someone to get up, or off the side of the screen. Lots of waiting. It's a bit better than 1 and 2, because of the new special attack meter, its a bit more fun. I liked this way more than 2, until level 6, where the game decided to become fucking bullshit and boring. I softlocked myself in level 6, and got the bad ending. So I tried again, got the bad ending because the final boss is one of the worst fucking final bosses ever. And it's WAY WORSE in the American version. I'm ignoring most of that for this score, it's mostly a good game.
|Barney's Hide & Seek Game (USA)||Realtime Associates||1993||Platform||Yes||11/10||9:00||Impossible to overcome, simply perfection||Glitched_Goddess|
|Barver Battle Saga - Tai Kong Zhan Shi (China) (Unl) (Translated En)||Chuanpu||1996||Role-Playing|
|Batman - Revenge of the Joker (USA)||SunSoft||1990||Platform||No||4/10||41:00|
Really stiff gameplay, the weapon choices are ridiculous (some are just straight up worse than the p-shooter), bosses are far too monotonous, levels and gameplay is frustrating and too difficult, but at least you get unlimited continues.
A bit stiff, hard to aim punches sometimes, but good level of difficulty, fun throughout, and excellent music (as it IS a Sunsoft title)
|Batman Forever (World)||Probe Entertainment||1995||Platform||No||2/10||38:50|
Shockingly bad. It's intensely boring beat em up combat on top of a clunky to control character with famously confusing and convoluted controls.
|Batman Returns (World)||Sega||1992||Platform||No||3/10||42:28|
Awful controls, super stiff and confusing, combat is awful, your attack is always too short, and theirs are too long, so you take a lot of damage that's basically not possible to avoid, some bosses and level designs are just bullshit, I had to be told where to go in the mall level, and the ball rolling section is basically impossible, so heck this
|Battle Mania Daiginjou (Japan, Korea) (Translated En)||Vic Tokai||1993||Shmup||Yes||9.5/10||49:49||Only held back by flashing epilepsy lights||Horuhe85|
|Battle of Red Cliffs, The (China) (Unl)||Unknown||1994||Beat-'Em-Up||No||2/10||32:12|
Bad music, bad art, bad pizza, papa johns. Constantly juggled, their attack boxes are way larger than your terrible range (unless you're playing bow dude), its a bad port of a Saturn game. Bluh
|Battle Squadron (USA, Europe)||Innerprise Software||1990||Platform||No||5.5/10||31:08|
It's a pretty okay shmup, no real cohesion with the enemy waves, lots of bullet hell, annoyingly large hitbox for bullet hell shenanigans, pretty samey, it sends you back to level 1 at the end of every level which is odd, and ther's a single track. But it's okay
If it ran at 2x the speed it'd actually be kinda fun. But as it is, it's like herding cats, and killing everyone (if you're an orc). Assumedly it's a lot of trading and exploration for non-orcs, but that's boring, be an orc.
|BattleTech - A Game of Armored Combat (USA)||Malibu||1994||Platform||No||7/10||38:55|
Hard as balls, sometimes hard to tell where to go, but it looks and sounds great, and is a cool concept
Better than the NES version (except for the lack of pause beats). Better music, better graphics, better pizza, Papa Johns. But for real, it's actually very good for the first half, a fun but challenging game, and then as soon as you get to the steel spaghetti level with the sharks, it goes WAY beyond, and just becomes extraordinarily bullshit, with cheap kills abound. Also, hit detection is not this game's strong suit.
|Battletoads & Double Dragon (USA)||Rare||1993||Beat-'Em-Up||No||3.5/10||29:33|
Much worse than the original. The hit detection is really really bad. It's a very subpar bad beat em up, with interesting ideas, cute graphics, and incredible music. Several of those ideas just flat out do not work though. It's infamously difficult, more so even than the original, and not nearly as fun.
|Beast Wrestler (USA)||Renovation||1991||Platform||No||3/10||21:11|
Its a wrestling game, but with cute and strangely sexualized monster men, this game is very horny. But because its a wrestling game, you can't control it, and it makes no sense. I could kind of beat two people, but the third person was immune to all my attacks except two, and just barely, you had to position yourself perfectly. It made no sense.
|Beauty and the Beast - Belle's Quest (USA)||Software Creations||1993||Platform||Yes||5.5/10||45:57|
Mostly playable, a lot of minigames and "platforming"? Mostly just dodging animals and solving mazes. The horse riding section sucks ass, but the rest of it is kind of okay.
|Beauty and the Beast - Roar of the Beast (USA)||Software Creations||1993||Platform||Yes||3.5/10||55:56|
Really bad hit detection, terrible music, and kinda poorly designed samey boring levels. But its not THAT bad. Apparently these two were supposed to be one game but didn't get finished in time!
|Beavis and Butt-Head (USA)||Radical Entertainment||1994||Adventure||No||3/10||27:07|
Ugly as sin, frustrating to play, and a bad adventure game that gives no hints on where to go or what to do.
|Beggar Prince (World) (Unl)||Super Fighter Team||2006||Role-Playing|
|Berenstain Bears' Camping Adventure, The (USA)||Realtime Associates||1993||Platform||Yes||5/10||19:00|
Good for kids, I guess. Pretty dull platformer, slow and methodical with weird momentum physics involving your jump
|Best of the Best - Championship Karate (USA)||Electro Brain||1993||Fighter|
|Beyond Oasis (USA)||Ancient||1994||Action RPG||Yes||9/10||5:50:46|
Good Zelda-esque game, some very frustrating moments (The Nature dungeon boss, the final dungeon). Hit detection was off at times, but it's a beautiful presentation
|Bible Adventures (USA) (Unl)||Color Dreams||1995||Platform||No||2/10||32:00||Barely functions, controls like rancid butter, and aaaawful music.||Lizstar|
|Bill's Tomato Game (USA) (Proto)||Tempest Software||1992||Platform||No||7/10||39:58|
To be played in small bursts, really, otherwise it gets dull. Kinda liek the amazing machine or whatever, lots of small fun mini-puzzles. Pretty forgiving and cute
|Bimini Run (USA)||Nuvision Entertainment||1990||Platform||Yes||7/10||55:49|
Kinda funky, the hit detection is a bit off, but the general idea and prowess of it shines through, and it's a fun time, though it gets VERY hard to dodge attacks by the end.
|Bio Hazard Battle (USA, Europe)||Sega||1992||Shooter||Yes||7.5/10||1:31:00|
Good shmup, very interesting style and design, kinda gross, but I like the sting ray. Very unique. Pretty hard, but over all, fun.
|Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon (Japan)||Angel Studios||1994||Beat-'Em-Up||Yes||6.5/10||1:07:51|
An okay beat-em-up. Thankfully very forgiving on the continues. Being able to choose so many characters is nice. Mars has an OP fire attack that makes the whole game slow, but "easy", except for the final boss, which is a bonkers fight. Actually, most characters have this attack, except Mercury
|Blades of Vengeance (USA, Europe)||Beam Software||1993||Platform||No||4/10||1:03:28|
Unneccesarily hard, no continues (although apparently I unlocked one at some point and don't know how?), aesthetics are nice in a cheesy way, but it's just kinda frustrating to play.
|Blaster Master 2 (USA)||Software Creations||1993||Platform||Yes||4/10||2:45:00|
Not as bad as people say, though pretty awful at parts. Its a weirdly fluctuating experience. The top down areas are AWFUL, but the rest is survivable, barely passable.
|Blockbuster World Video Game Championship II (USA)||Various||1995||Miscellaneous||Yes||5/10?||10:00|
It's two games, NBA Jam and Judge Dredd, but time-limited, and you try to score as many points as possible. Similar to NES World Championships, it's not really meant to be played as a game.
|Blockout (World)||California Dreams||1991||Puzzle|
|Body Count (Europe)||Probe Entertainment||1994||Platform||No||2/10||20:00||Impossible and frustrating, maybe better with a menacer?||cl0wnpepe|
|Bomboy (China) (Unl)||Gamtec||1993||Action|
|Bonanza Brothers (USA, Korea)||Sega||1991||Arcade||Yes||7.5/10||36:20||Good classic Arcade fun. Great with two players!||Gliitchless|
|Bonkers (USA, Europe)||Sega||1994||Platform||No||6/10||26:34|
A collection of 4 mini games that slowly ramp in difficulty. They're alright.
|Boogerman - A Pick and Flick Adventure (USA)||Interplay||1994||Platform||No||7/10||57:28|
Not as bad as people say, looks great, plays well, sounds great, it's just disgusting.
|Bram Stoker's Dracula (USA)||Traveller's Tales||1993||Platform||Yes||5/10||6:08|
Strange design, but not terrible. Just average as a platformer. Has problems with I-Frames
|Brutal - Paws of Fury (USA)||Imagitec Design||1994||Fighter||No||2/10||32:00|
Obscenely brutal, strange sexualization, wonky special moves system, and just overall not good.
|Bubba'n'Stix - A Strategy Adventure (USA)||Core Design||1993||Strategy||No||4/10||47:50|
Good presentation and cute ideas, but its really frustrating and poorly explained. Its a puzzle platformer, but the puzzle aspects are kinda obnoxious and obtuse, the platforming isn't super fun, and the combat is actually pretty bad. But it has good ideas, it just needed a bit more. Its impossible to not get hit and just gets frustrating
|Bubble and Squeak (USA)||Audiogenic||1994||Platform||No||7/10||43:43|
A little incomprehensible, but fun! Very Amiga-y escort platformer, Squeak is solid and doesn't die easily which makes it better, and the music is incredible.
|Bubsy II (USA, Europe)||Accolade||1993||Platform||No||3/10||15:00|
Shockingly bad, I totally thought it would be better than Bubsy 1, but it made me extremely ill. Jittery, sickening, terribly designed, at least you have health I guess
|Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind (USA, Europe)||Accolade||1994||Platform||No||5/10||1:30:46||"Wow, you're still playin' this thing?!" - Bubsy, reviewing his own game||Rocksteady45|
|Buck Rogers - Countdown to Doomsday (USA, Europe)||SSI||1991||Strategy||No||6/10||1:10:00|
It's a Gold Box Advanced DND game, but with a Buck Rogers skin. Weirdly detailed, pretty good art, bad music, bad art at times, and just a tad dull, but if it's the kinda game you like, it's a good game in that genre.
|Budokan - The Martial Spirit (USA)||Electronic Arts||1990||Platform|
|Bug Hunt (World) (Unl)||Lazy Brain Games||2015||Action|
|Bugs Bunny in Double Trouble (USA)||Atod AB||1996||Platform||No||2/10||22:50|
Literally softlocked myself on stage 2. Some interesting ideas, looks alright, but gives bad motion sickness, frustrating as hell, slippery, and of course, the afformentioned softlocking in a "barely able to see anything" dungeon
|Burning Force (USA)||Namco||1990||Shooter||No||6/10||24:16|
Space Harrier 2 but good. No lag issues, looks good, depth actually makes sense, but it gets very arcadey-hard.
|Cadash (USA, Asia)||Taito||1992||Action RPG||No||4/10||40:00|
Brutally difficult, as all Cadash ports are. Kind of unfinished, missing a lot of features.
