Distance Learning Tips // Informative Articles

Teachers Pay TeachersResources for Teachers & Parents: "At TpT, we’re committed to helping teachers navigate all sorts of new experiences. This includes moments like right now, when schools across the U.S. and around the world are grappling with the consequences of the coronavirus, facing potential school closures, and exploring the possibility of remote learning.

Over the last few weeks, we’ve heard from teachers that they’re being asked to prepare options for remote learning. To help teachers and parents who might find themselves in this situation, we talked to some experts in the TpT community who have experience with remote learning (which we define for this post as learning that takes place outside of the classroom for an extended period of time). They shared some of their tried-and-true strategies and tips for engaging students in alternative settings. "

3ZoomDepending on the age of the child...could you try an online play dates? You can set the kids up with crafts and let them chat and play or you can have one child "share the screen" and they can watch a video or educational show together. Maybe even have popcorn or a snack. Could you find a way for a few kids that are nomally in class together to have class "together" online? Maybe even a few mom's could share duties and 1 mom at a time can "teach" to a few kids at once giving the other moms a free hour or so?? I feel super creative about this. If you have questions reach out to ashley@ashleygrabertherapy.com and let's brainstorm this.

Arts Hub for KidsThis site has hundreds of how-to art videos, mostly drawing videos, but some painting, sculpture and even origami. It’s super engaging for kids, Mr. Hub and his family do the drawings themselves on camera so you get to see his version and the child’s version. And they draw everything from everyday objects to your kids’ favorite video game or movie characters. O has spent has spent hours on this site. The paid membership is optional and not really necessary. *Note: Sadly, there are ads that pop up, click the "x" on them as they pop up.

51
Drawing NowIt’s also got tons of drawing videos for kids but, I think it solves one of the problems that some other art websites for kids have…it allows you watch the drawing video step by step! You click a button to see each little segment of the drawing get drawn so you can really go at your own speed.*Note: Sadly, there are ads that pop up, click the "x" on them as they pop up.
